They had tons of hand sanitizer and stuff available for customers to use and a really friendly barista. This place is pretty awesome. I love how it's outdoors and best of all, there's a private parking lot if you decide to drive! It opens bright and early around 7am so for you early risers, it's definitely a great place to grab your cup of coffee. I ordered a caramel latte instead and was rather pleased with how it turned out. It was just the right amount of sweetness complete with beautiful latte art (see picture attaché to review). You're able to make it a single or double shot with no extra charge with the 12oz I ordered (medium size). Whipped cream is optional, but I chose to opt out not only because of the extra calories, but because I wanted to see the artwork on the foam. Although I didn't order any pastries, it was awfully tempting. The vegan donuts were practically calling my name. Everything on the pastry plates looked fresh and colorful (mostly the donuts). Lovely place, great coffee and friendly service. Dog friendly. Popular, so come early, especially on weekends, as they run out of some good pastries by around ten am. Suggestion: they should put out more small tables that have some kind of cover from the sun. Their long tables under the roof attached to the wall should be replaced by smaller ones, as no one wants to sit facing the wall. And, maybe put some small tables next to the long benches by the other wall on the other side. That's a minor point, otherwise great. read more

We stopped here spontaneously while driving by two weeks ago. The coffee was so good we came another time last week! Fellini makes a VERY tasty iced vanilla latte, mochas and regular lattes. We drink an exceptional amount of coffee everywhere and this tastiness is not a reality in too many other joints. Also, their vegan donuts and other sweets are alluring and worth it. Fellini - 5 Stars: stand up coffee shop on University Avenue in Berkeley. When most other places are closed or have shortened hours, you'll probably find this place open and doing a thriving business. You belly up to the window and place your order, and get your coffee and crumpet down the line. There is no indoor seating because there is no indoor. Plenty of seats outside and plenty of parking, this was a little jewel and they had great coffee. This is the kind of place that Starbucks et al have mostly put out of business...but not here. These guys do a really nice job with coffee/tea and eats, so much so that we think they can weather the competition. Very nice personnel...open at some hours you'd not expect...the main downside is rainy weather, since there is really no protection. We will be back. read more

Cute little walk-up coffee spot in Berkeley! I got a small 8 oz latte with a spritz of coconut syrup for $2.95 and it was delicious! The latte was very smooth and the coconut flavor just kicked it up a notch without being too sweet. I could see from the window that they have a bunch of syrup flavors so this is a good spot if you love flavored lattes! Prices are good, the staff is friendly, and they make a good latte. read more

My only complaint is how far away this is from me! The coffee here is way better than I thought. It doesn't taste burnt and the Mexican Mocha tasted like a horchata dipped in chocolate - which means I'm hooked. The prices are reasonable and they have a HUGE array of pastries. I got the banana muffin and cinnamon apple muffin and both were incredible. Seating is limited to a few tables and chairs outside (this is a walk-by coffee stand not a shop you can sit in) but I definitely will come back and bring people to show them Fellini! You can come to this cafe and talk to people. It's a real cafe with neighborhood regulars. It's rare to see people on a laptop as it's outdoors and I think that lends itself to socialization. If you want hand-poured single source coffee options, this is not your place. The coffee is good though and most of the neighbors are nice folks. read more

I love the idea of a fast and convenient coffee and pastry window. I am not, however, a fan of Fellini's actual coffee. I'm becoming a coffee snob. I work in the Mission District with cafes in the likes of Philz, Ritual, and Grand Coffee. By comparison, Fellini's coffee is decent at best -- not enough notes or body, but it will get you through. Prices are reasonable, but not cheap. I'm lactose intolerant, so I often pay 50 cents to $1 more than most people for lattes and the like. Places like Philz and Boba Guys have the price of dairy substitutes incorporated with their regular prices, so it's not an add-on. Depending on the drink, it's sometimes cheaper. I'm willing to try Fellini again, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I absolutely love the coffee drinks here. It's an adorable walk-up window attached to an Italian eatery (which I have yet to try). It's the perfect spot on a warm morning to grab a latte and sit outside at their little cafe tables with your pup. It's also convenient when you're headed to the 80 toward San Francisco or wine county. I enjoy their latte with amaretto flavor, and my boyfriend appreciates their cappuccino or dark roasted espresso. They have a small selection of tasty baked goods as well. There was secondhand tobacco smoke throughout the premises, so while waiting for my order I looked around the back and found a woman smoking whose response to my politely asking her to smoke further away was first to ignore me, then to hurl her hot coffee in my face. The employees were completely disinterested in my having been assaulted, in the smoke issue, and greeted the woman by name. We as a community worked hard for our ground-breaking smokefree protections, but without the business meeting us halfway we are vulnerable to addicted smokers who decide violence is their only option. Please help ask this business to put up appropriate signage and make sure smokers comply; it's simple to do, especially when you know them, as the Fellini Coffee Bar employees knew this "Juliette" person. read more

Better than Starbucks not as good as Peet's but the baked goods are better than both put together. Amazing, CHEAP (for berkeley) coffee and pastries. Huge selection of goodies and coffee is strong and smooth. Super nice staff, great community feel. I usually do a couple shots of espresso over ice, but when I have a sweet tooth, their chocolate frappuccino is heavenly while still being pretty caffeinated. Walking distance from North Berkeley station and a ten minute drive from UC Berkeley. Would definitely recommend checking it out--Berkeley visitors and natives alike! read more

Just went here yesterday with a friend. I ordered a caramel cappuccino and he ordered an iced chai. I will say they are really cheap. So there's that. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad cappuccino, but it wasn't the best. I got a 12 oz and it seemed to be primarily foam. They do have a parking lot though which is amazing for this city. I ordered a hot chocolate here and it tasted like milk with sugar. No chocolate flavor whatsoever! Who screws up basic hot chocolate!?!? To make matters worse....while I was waiting for my sugar milk a man walks up to the counter with a dog. The dog jumps up and puts his big nasty paws up on the counter where they set your pastries down etc. I was horrified! No sooner does he walk away from the counter a woman walks up with yet another large nasty slobbering dog. The barista reaches through the window and starts petting the dog. Hmmm...Then she continues serving pastries and coffee without washing her hands!! Just nasty!!!! I'm sure the health department would have a field day at this place. I drive/bike here all the time for coffee -- no parking hassle, and you don't have to wait for a drip coffee -- it is possible to make GOOD coffee by the urn, people. Don't get me wrong, I love Local 123 if I have some time to kill, but at Fellini's Coffeebar, you can order (and get) a coffee and then kill time while sitting in their ample outdoor seating area. Is it legal to leave your kids in the car if they are asleep while you enjoy a coffee? The lot is 10 feet from the out door seating, and this IS the place to go if your kids fell asleep mid-afternoon in the car! Baristas are always super friendly, BTW. read more
