I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the pork was very soft, what I appreciate is that it isn't drowned in BBQ sauce. So you get to sauce it to your liking. The smells that greeted us when we walked through the door let me know we were heading for a great meal. After perusing the menu, I decided on the brisket plate (moist and sliced) with potato salad, beans, and a tortilla. The brisket was everything Texas brisket should be--fork tender and so full of flavor. I added a bit of the sauce they keep on the table and it took up another notch. As an added bonus, they serve tea in quart jars. And it was strong and fresh. Service was outstanding. Everyone there was so nice. If I get back down this way, I'll definitely head back to 492.

I was in Edinburgh Tx. Decided to stop by this place instead of Rudy's BBQ…read more The server was friendly and knew the menu well. I ordered the 3 taco combo with corn Tortillas. One was brisket, pulled pork and regular sausage with a side of beans. I loved the smoke flavor of the pulled pork and all the meats were moist and juicy. The beans could use more flavor. It was supposed to be to be charro beans but was missing ingredients that could be the reason it was bland. Also ordered the strawberry lemonade and it was delicious. It is served in a large mason jar. Ambience is casual and yes it is a bit chilled inside but with this Texas heat it is understandable. I will not complain about that. Frankly I would prefer this place over Rudy's BBQ. Give a try and tell me what you think.

The baked potato is in the larger side and also came with a generous amount of meat. The meat was seasoned well, however with the size of the potato, there were not enough cheese or sour cream so I would say 2/3 of the potato can use more seasoning or more salt

I ordered the fresh made lemonade, which for me was the only real downfall. The "lemonade" had no lemon flavor. It's like what you would find at a fair, all sugar - no lemon. Definitely not worth the 3.75 I paid for it. For my meal I ordered the lean brisket sandwich. They make their own bbq sauce which is vinegar based, but just a hint on the sweet side. A really nice flavor balance! The sandwich comes with your choice of two sides, beans, rice, or potato salad. I'm not a fan of any of those, so I had a bag of chips. The sandwich was 8.75 - very reasonable for home smoked brisket. Over all, a good place to eat! I love supporting the little guys, and small businesses with good food. This place fits the bill!
