I have been a patient/client of Jill Nelson for two and a half years. I came to her during a point…read morein my life where I had hit rock bottom with a long two-year struggle to the surface again, and candidly still climbing. Her time and dedication to bringing me back to life and improving my mental health were unmatched. She has always been available through text/email and even last minute sessions at the very end of the night where she had already had a full day. Our first year together was a battle. I was very stubborn in my viewpoint and we would consistently butt heads in the therapeutic process until one day - it just clicked. All the whiteboards images, and walkthroughs, all the examples and stories it just became so clear. So clear and now ingrained that if I try to go back to my old way of thinking or processing a literal cramp goes through my brain as if Jill was there with an electric shock button correcting my course of action. The closest people in my life have seen my growth and are envious of therapeutic relationship I have found with Jill. I, unfortunately, am leaving Chicago and was terrified to lose what we have built together that once again she has taken the extra step to enable virtual sessions so I can continue my progress and keep up with my new healthy lifestyle. If you want a change in your life and are willing to do the work even when the sessions make you want to relapse, go back and keep pushing. It's hard. Mental health is like exercising. It hurts but it feels so good when you accomplish a great session. Jill will never give up on you, but you must not give up on yourself.

She was complaining to me about another patient, asking me questions irrelevant to our discussion; I found this unprofessional. She then wanted to start me on high doses of medications which had side effects, when she could have started at lower doses, as common sense would dictate. Instead of answering my phone calls regarding side effects, she texted me. Then proceeded to tell me texts were not preferred due to liability reasons. Needless to say, as a healthcare professional, I did not find her competent. I would not recommend wasting time, energy on this MD. Get a list from your insurance company of many!
