Armanda Keci PMHNP is an excellent provider. She listens to her patient's concerns, work her schedule with her patients (even off hours), very approachable and provides honest feedback. Armanda is knowledgeable regarding her patient's psychiatric and medical needs. She explains the medication use and side effects to her patients and makes sure the patient understands the treatment plan, goals and expectations. She collaborates with other providers, such as the therapist and PCPs to address her patients needs. She follows up with her patients on a regular basis and promptly replies to their messages. I highly recommend Armanda and BZA for providing excellent support and care to their patients. Coming to BZA is like having a friend and shoulder you could count on.

I am writing this review because of the positive experience I had as a student while at BZA. The facility is very welcoming and esthetically pleasing. Another strength of BZA is its team approach. I have enjoyed observing my preceptor, Armanda Keci, interact with her patients/clients. She is thorough, personable and most importantly genuinely professional. She is an excellent role model for the psych and mental health profession. She is prompt is responding to her patients' needs whether online or in-person. As a student, she gave feedback on a daily basis, was available and responded to my needs within minutes to hours and my required clinical documents were submitted in a timely manner which truly helped to alleviate my stress level. I feel extremely honored to have had this opportunity to learn under Armanda's guidance. I highly recommend her to patients experiencing mental health issues any student pursuing a degree or certification in Psych and Mental Health.

I'm a graduate of Northwestern University and was distraught over my outcomes with other psychiatrists. I felt like I didn't suffer through that school to be on disability. Susan is a breath of fresh air. While she isn't in-network with any insurance company, her prices are reasonable (she's worth every penny), and she will work with your insurance on things like getting your prescriptions covered, provide you with documentation if you have out-of-network coverage, and fill out any sort of job-related paperwork that may be needed. I think it's saying something that she keeps her patient population functioning so well that they can continue to see her, even in the rough times. Unlike so many other psychiatrists, to the best of my knowledge Susan doesn't have patients in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, or regularly in an inpatient setting. We're all contributing members of society and she keeps us that way. As psych patients, I believe that's the most we can ask for: to be indistinguishable from people without mental illness. Susan ensures just that. If there's one thing you should spend a little extra on, it's your health. Take my word for it. Make your mental health a priority with Susan Bank. You'll be happy you did!

What happened since then was more and more medications were added to his care. Five medications and the PA wanted a 6th, which my son had already tried and it didn't help! He gained lots of weight from these meds. My son is now with a new practice and a psychiatrist who just weaned him off one med and is adjusting another. He is looking to discontinue another medication eventually and begin therapy. This is how to practice psychiatric medicine! One other thing - many times the office staff was rude and completely focused on payment - not my son's care. When billed, my son paid them immediately but often they wanted money before an appointment or even a discussion. I think they felt they had the upper hand with dealing with patients similar to my son - who have emotional and/or mental issues and probably don't have advocates like me sticking up for them. Sad.

I don't even live in the state of Illinois, and he thought it was a good idea to keep me in the hospital for two weeks. His decision cost me my job. He also demanded that I start taking medicine that I didn't need and that essentially turned me into a nonverbal three-year-old. I am guessing he did this to stop me from complaining to authorities about him, but, unfortunately for him, I am in the process of filing a 10-page complaint with the Illinois state medical board. At discharge, he stole a prescription of Adderall from me and attempted to steal $700.00. I had to have a lawyer call and threaten to file a police report in order to have the money returned. I didn't get the medication back. I am guessing he took it, and I don't blame him, because he may need it worse than me. I am hoping that in doing so he was able to provide his other patients there with something other than the far-below substandard care that I received. Unless you want a nightmare horror movie experience, stay out of this hospital. It is the worst. Not only are the doctors ignorant about developmental disorders, but they actively abuse and take advantage of the vulnerable people who have them.

This crook kept me for an additional day at the hospital because he said a Dr. had reported they heard me making statements indicating I was homicidal. I was not even suicidal much less homicidal. He was trying to railroad a mental health nurse to inpatient care because I guess maybe he was behind on his car payments. He asked me three times during the first interview what I did for a living. You think he would remember if someone told him they were a mental health RN but not this genius. I was in for pain and CMH did a mental health screen and cleared me. Then the NP later told me since Mark assessed me he could override the CMH recommendation. Of course they did not tell me this prior to seeing this liar. I will never step foot back in a McLaren as a patient. I will be going to Munson in Gaylord or Traverse city. I find it hard to believe this guy has so many good reviews, I question the veracity of these reviews. They cannot possibly be real. He provided substandard clinical performance with clearly questionable medical judgement and honesty to be frank. He was dismissive of my statements and he talked at me more than to me trying to build his BS case for homicidal ideation. He lacked professional conduct as his approach to medicine was highly questionable and unprofessional, he actually called me a liar when I denied homicidal ideation and told him he was a quack. He yelled it as the nurse was pulling the monitor away from my bed. His dismissive attitude and unprofessional conduct compromised the patient-physician relationship. It was all BAD, it is as simple as that. I honestly cannot say one good thing about him. I only saw him twice but he made and cancelled multiple appointments throughout the day and I saw him LATE. UNACCEPTABLE! Even my nurse said he was horrible. The NP that was caring for me overrode this MOMO's recommendation and I was discharged to home at the end of the second day on the trauma floor. I have patients on the behavioural health unit I work on tell me that ER nurses and doctors as well as psychiatrists and CMH screeners lie about what they say all the time, I was skeptical regarding this possibility but now I know this definitely happens. What is way more common though is the patients telling me that ER staff tell them they can either get out after 72 hours or they can leave whenever they want. Then once they get on the unit they find out the truth. This is exactly what happened to me. I was told I would leave the next day after a MRI was performed but this was not the case. This experience has made me change my specialty in nursing as I refuse to work for a behavioural health unit, I do not want to be any part of the broken mental health system in this country. You have been warned.

TL;DR: Seek other options. Dr. Mills is inappropriate, manipulative, dismissive, degrading and…read moreshould not be providing care for people who are seeking mental health support. A formal complaint has been filed with the state regulatory board. I was a patient of Dr. Mills for over 6 years. During my last appointment, he felt it was appropriate to share his personal feelings on DEI and expressed that he is pleased with the way that things are shifting away from DEI to being "merit-based" because DEI was discriminatory to white men and people who are not LGBT+. As a woman who identifies as part of the LGBT+ community, I became very uncomfortable, told him that this was an inappropriate subject, and stated that I would be seeking a new provider to continue my treatment. He reacted appalled, and couldn't understand why I would be offended. I moved on and tried to go back to the purpose of the call: to assess my treatment and medication (am I eating, am I sleeping, etc). At the end of the appointment, I declined to schedule a follow up and immediately found a new provider. Three weeks later, I received an email from Dr. Mills with the subject line "termination". See below for full text. He attempted to terminate a relationship that was already terminated, acting as if I owed him an apology for standing my ground and expressing my discomfort while calling me "reactive and illogical". This rhetoric from a certified psychiatrist is not only inappropriate, it is abusive and damaging to patients who are seeking help. He is unable to manage his own emotions when a patient expresses discomfort on a subject and should not be trusted with providing support to anyone who needs mental health support/treatment. Avoid at all costs. Email text is as follows: Good morning Amy After thinking about our last conversation on 9/24, I have decided it is in my best interest to terminate our working relationship. I did absolutely NOTHING wrong by explaining that some folks are pleased with the shift away from DEI to a merit-based system. That is not even an opinion...it is REALITY. Your stated intention to fire me for saying something that is entirely FACTUAL was out of line and disrespectful to me and our working relationship over the past 6 years and I am not able to work with someone who would be this reactive and illogical in their behavior towards me. You've had 3 weeks to consider your words and apparently you feel no apology or explanation is owed to me and I find that unacceptable. Your last Rx will be released on 11/9 and, after that, I wish you well in your search for a new provider. Regards, Dr.Mills
