They said that our teenager didn't present with ADHD symptoms during their tests, even though they were ON their adhd medication during testing (which we told them)! It's like saying I don't have diabetes because my blood sugars were normal at the doctor's office because I take INSULIN! And they said it was a different medication, but Focalin XR is just the brand name of dexmethylphenidate ER, the same meds! We left multiple messages with 4 different people at the office without a single call back. We suspect xenophobia as the psychologist had some questionable things. We should have changed then, but we have had a lot of stress since my husband was diagnosed was stage 2/3 leukemia and needed weekly treatment immediately as he has the more aggressive version that spreads rapidly and can be resistant to treatment. We talked with one person at the front desk saying they were meeting on this, which had gone for over a week! Only after over a week of not having their meds, did we get any with someone else's help. Then our child apparently was very upset in the stall and a couple of kids were playing the "wake up" games (so sick of these sophomoric Tik tok/social media games) and our teenager came out so angry (due to not being on meds as that's one of the reasons they are on them) and hit one of the students today. Now, physical violence is inexcusable, and they are suspended for the day. But I do feel this could have been prevented somewhat if they had their adhd meds. This is the first time our child has ever acted out, although they do have some mental health issues with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. This should have motivate their psychologist to be even more urgent with our request, but they were the absolute opposite. Avoid these people at all costs!! They do not care about their patients, and they are immoral at best and incompetent at the worst. Or maybe both. Especially when it comes to mental health issues, life is hard enough. You don't want to deal with these people (Kerns and Associates in downtown Barrington) because they will make your lives even worse!

I was at my wit's end after seeing at least 4 other couples therapists that offered standard "vanilla" advice with no change. I assumed this was like any other couples therapy but with 2 professionals instead of 1. With nothing to lose, my partner at the time and I went in for what I affectionately now call "spiritual boot camp." Jean and Ray have a unique approach to their therapy backed by a mix of data, psychology, history, Kabbalah, and what I can only assume is MAGIC. They have an uncanny ability to read people and see thru B.S. allowing them to get to the root of issues faster and without judgement. If you're a fan of Brene Brown, Jean refers to this concept of eliminating shame (both within yourself and for those around you). I've been going to Lighthouse for 4 years now--even after moving 30 miles away & 2 failed attempts to get my advice/healing elsewhere. Sometimes I still leave sessions upset (because I know Jean is right and has hit a sore spot) but I ALWAYS have a sense of clarity and peace afterwards. It's not easy work bc they will push you if change is really what you're looking for--but well worth it!

My experience having been treated here was relieving at first as I really needed serious attention…read moreand help, but slowly became unprofessional. This is not the location to choose if you are looking for long-term healing. The advice and insight I've been given felt like a bandaid compared to a lot of the complex and deeper issues I was struggling with. I didn't feel care or empathy at all from Katarina. The office started ghosting me, and have not gotten any response from her. Coming out of my sessions I felt unimportant, I felt like my issues and struggles didn't matter. This place didn't feel like a lighthouse. Matters got worse when I was asking for a note, or signing papers for work. The attitude towards me became cold. If it was out of their capabilities, I wish they tried referring me to a different location, helping me reach out to the actual help I needed. I felt so lost and stressed especially in the state I was in already. I felt threatened to have a session or not. Please, take the time to listen, be patient, understanding, responsive, and act with care as all these patients are going through tough times. Edit* After writing this review, I experienced an unsavory set of actions in order for me to take down this review, thus slowing my healing process. I have no doubt they have helped individuals before, but the unsavory actions indicate large red flags for this business. I advise caution. After every session, Katarina would just walk away like time was up that's it. I just felt like a stranger that she had to talk to for one hour and then that's it. Being a social worker, I felt it lacked the empathy and warmth. I've never felt as if she tried to understand me. I switched to my old psychologist and after just one session with him I felt hopeful. I expressed my concerns and he showed me empathy and a willingness to work things through.

I had an appt but was in the hospital, really sick, so I called ahead of time and rescheduled. Then, the SAME DAY of my appointment, I get a phone call saying the provider didn't think he and I would be a "good fit" (WTF- he never even met me). He feels I'd be better suited with another provider that best fits my "physical and emotional needs" he's a damn psychiatrist! I utilized another psych provider in that practice for years and utilized a neuro psych in that practice. His practice. This was beyond the pale of unprofessional. When I booked the appointment I asked if this provider was religious based because my previous provider was. I was told this was not a factor but I fully believe it is given my previous provider was a PA and wrote scripts under the main providers name so he should have been familiar with my name. This was the most unprofessional behaviour from a doctors office I've ever experienced and if you're thinking of making an appointment there, I'd honestly think again because a provider who would casually drop you same day is not taking into account the mental health of a patient. It's honestly disgusting. I would not recommend this place to honestly, my worst enemy.

I left a bad review and they called saying that we get a 30 day supply of meds, and we then needed to find a new doctor? I said we because they cut my husband off also. The reason given was that Dr Rachman does not have a license to practice in CO which is where we're are. They are in IL we are in CO I get it, except we moved here 6 years ago and they finally decide the day after a bad yet very accurate review that this is an issue???? The front desk over the years has yelled at me, belittled me, made me cry, told me a mentally ill person that I was taking to much medicine and they were going to talk to my doctor about me crying?? I am mentally ill, yes, which is why you don't hire rude, impatient, controversially, insensitive, etc, etc, etc people to run the front of the house. Actually one of those unkind ladies is the owner wife. I always forget that part. She likes to leave 5 star reviews for their practice. I have nothing to say about the doctors or therapist that work there. But they need to know who is dealing with their patients. Although Dr Lendvay, the owner of the practice must know his wife right?? Which means they don't care about patients because why would he ever let her deal with the public, let alone mentally ill yet vulnerable people. It is hard enough to ask for help and then be verbally abused by the front desk? Please if you read this and need help, please don't stop here. 10yrs I was with Dr Rachman and like that the front office cut me off, not the doctor. Look me up I have left 4 reviews in my life, 3 of which are about Proactive Behavioral Services. I didn't get out of bed for days when you refused to refill my prescription one time. That is the care they provide.

I then couldn't sleep that night and was blow drying my hair and making brownies at 2:30am. I still don't know if I did the right process or not. I know the scans go off of blood flow and I didn't get a good sleep that night so I am not sure. It takes a while to talk to the actual doctor about this but am eager to hear the results and see if I need to update my supplements with them. :)
