He has a really good balance between creating lots of space for me and my "stuff" while also contributing to the discussion in meaningful ways. I have been seeing Dr. Luce for a few years now and all of the initial issues i came to therapy have been mostly resolved. Overview: When I met w/ Dr. Subhani for the initial visit, she did spend a decent amount of time w/me but seemed uninterested in hearing what I had to say regarding my acne. I asked her to do a hormonal blood test and her attitude said that was a waste of time. She had already determined my hormone levels were normal because I'm not fat. But she did a blood test anyway because that was the main reason for the visit. She didn't want to give me any type of solution either for the acne. I had to ask her for antibiotics or something to start working on the problem. The blood test results took a couple weeks. The staff called and quickly stated the results are normal and hung up. I have no idea what they tested for. What did I pay for? When I called back to get more info on the test and maybe get a prescription, the staff didn't know what to go over or what to say nor would get the doc on the phone. Days later, when the doctor finally called back like I asked, she too had nothing to say and seemed hella irritated. Maybe I had to pay another $150 for her to talk. They were surprised I got billed because things weren't sorted, however, they did say I got billed for two visits on the same day. I thought that was a mistake, called Dr. Roystons office and they were like, if you had ANY complaints, that would fall into a second visit. I said, no, I literally had no complaints. Last year I had a problem with my neck, so maybe she just pulled over last years billing? Nope, she billed me for conditions she's not even managing. In my notes, it literally says managed by other physicians. I went in to speak with Chris Fuqua, he said he couldn't do anything, but because she put those diagnosis in, it's a separate visit. I was like, so I'm not suppose to inform her of my conditions other doctors are managing? Isn't that important for your PCP to know your health HISTORY? He basically was like, I cannot say anything. His silence spoke volumes. Not to mention, I was telling Dr. Royston during my visit that I would prefer vitamin B12 shots over her recommended vitamin B12 pills because I struggle with taking them and she was like... no. I was like, why? She said, the pills work, if it didn't work, then you can do a shot. I spoke to someone and they were like, you can go to minute clinic and it cost less to get a B12 shot then go through insurance anyway. She was dismissive and she's billing for conditions she literally is not treating. Just beware.... You will get charged for your medical HISTORY when speaking with her.

I used to have ongoing sinus infections or chest congestion after colds I couldn't shake, and she always took it seriously and had quick and helpful remedies. In my past experience, most doctors shrugged those symptoms off or were at a loss for solutions. She is also great for preventive care. I recommended her to a coworker. Upon seeing her for just a routine visit, Dr. Royston immediately noticed a troubling skin lesion and correctly diagnosed my coworker with skin cancer. With me, I always feel like she is on the case looking to prevent future issues: getting my oversized thyroid checked out for possible cancer, listening to my complaints about swollen hands and getting me tested for rheumatoid arthritis, checking to make sure I am scheduled for a colonoscopy given my age. She delves into family medical history, and she asks about my exercise routine (or lack of). I just had my annual physical with her and came in with 8 written questions, thinking she would never have the time for all of them. It is Northwestern, and regardless of which department you are seeing, at some point you may feel like it's a bit of a factory pushing people in and out. But she had time for all 8 questions, and I'm glad I asked. Some of her answers were surprising and in a good way. The office is also very efficient. I've never had to wait to get in. I actually got there early last time, and Dr. Royston saw me right away. Even though it is downtown, the practice feels like a family practice. I noticed I've been seeing the same nurse there for over 10 years. The nurses have given me good tips, like after a flu shot, and I've never had a painful blood draw in their labs. I can't recommend this practice highly enough. There may be a time or two when you feel like things are going quickly, but then just let the nurse or Dr. Royston know you have more questions. They will listen.

I tried two different clinics, each with their own horror story, I had yet to actually see a doctor. I made my appointment about a month out. The next day the clinic called me to reschedule - and low and behold I could get the first appointment. So, the day before the day, I was called like normal to be reminded of my appointment and could I please arrive early. No problem. I get there at 7:15. They take me back for my weight, blood pressure, etc. They take me to the room and advise me to stay dressed because since I am a new patient the doctor will want to talk to me first. No problem. I it now 7:40 or so. I wait. And, wait. a little after 8:00 the nurse that took my vitals advises me that the doctor "is on her way" and that it should be only a few more minutes. No problem. Now, it is 8:15, no doctor. The nurse comes back again, and "the doctor is on her way, she is very sorry that she is stuck in traffic". I'm thinking, "well, you live in Chicago, you know about Chicago's traffic, you should have planned for this". But, okay, no problem. So I sit. And sit. And sit. Now it's 8:55 and no doctor. No check in since the last check in, and by now I'm livid. I have been sitting there for an hour waiting. All I could think of is why in the hell didn't this doctor say that she was going to be too late and reschedule me instead of making me wait? Or, why doesn't the clinic have another doctor that is there come in and help me? Neither of which happens. So, I leave the room, and walk around trying to find someone to find out where in the hell this doctor is! And, I'm met with the same excuse, "the doctor is on her way". I asked for an appointment the same day - specifically I asked for an appointment an hour after the doctor's last appoointment to see how she likes to wait around for her patients. Livid doesn't begin to describe tmy anger at that time. I went back to the room to calm down a bit and another doctor (finally!) comes in to apologize and offers to conduct the physical. At this point, I cannot because I had already spent the amount of time that I had allotted waiting for the doctor to show up! This doctor never apologized to me. Never called to offer an apology, an explanation. I cannot believe that she was recommended to me! I understand that this was a one-time event for her, but this was my introduction to her, and it left more than a sour taste in my mouth. I would NEVER go back to this doctor again. Unprofessional. Very unprofessional.

I try to keep healthy but I'm not perfect. Anyway, Dr. Pearson was the first doctor I've been to who treated me like a real person & listened intently to my concerns. She spent over 30 minutes with me (again, this was just a proactive check up) and by the time I left I felt like a VIP patient. Then within a few days after the appointment, she personally called me to deliver my test results (all positive) and patiently walked me through each section, explaining areas I did not understand. Moreover, she talks to you in layman terms, translating the medical jargon into coherent facts. I'm actually excited that I have such a wonderful regular physician!
