Yay, a new restaurant in the neighborhood!! Our friends told us that the pizza here is excellent, so my husband and I decided to have a date there last night to check it out. I'm a bit worried about the success of any restaurant with such an obscure address- untere weißgerberstrasse isn't exactly bustling with pedestrians.
we were seated in the non-smoking section of this quite small restaurant. the first thing we noticed was that the waiter and cook were actually communicating in Italian. then we were given champaign, brushetta and olives to celebrate the opening of the restaurant. so far we are impressed. then we ordered our pizza. I ordered one with cherry tomatoes, parmesan and rucola. it was delicious and the amount of parmesan was more than generous. ( next time I'll take a picture). my husband had the pizza parma and was also more than happy.
the only flaw I could report is that the tv was on, playing an Italian station. I thought that was a bit too much, even though it wasn't very loud at all. An Italian girl at the bar was watching it. the restaurant is also dog-friendly, there were 2 dogs in the smoking section but they didn't bother us at all. The separation between the smoking and non-smoking section is also not that great. The rooms are separated by a doorway (without a door) and with time the whole place will probably start to smell like smoke.
All in all, this place is a GREAT addition to the Weißgerber hood!!! read more
