So we went here for oysterfest and have to say yhe location and the service was fantastic. But the food was less than what was expected. We got the grilled oysters and the BOLT sandwich for oysterfest and an order of calamari. The calamari was lightly fried and tasted great with the sauces. It was tender and not rubbery. The grilled oyster tasted, honestly like nothing. It was our first time eating oyster and there was no flavor to them. The bolt sandwich, which was bacon, fried oysters, lettuce, and tomatoes tasted like a plain blt sandwich. I am use to tasting flavors in my food and sadly i didn't get it with this dish. I do not recommend this place. The food is overpriced and mediocre at best. There a much better places to eat at. This is essentially bar food. Anyway, I ordered the ribeye, which was on the specials menu (I know, never order the specials - I was feeling risky). I always get my steak cooked MR. However, when I got my steak it was still mooing. There were barely char marks!!! We told the waiter, who was excellent btw, and they only took 50% off the steak meal. Not a good restaurant for vegetarians. Ended up getting the avacado blt without bacon. But the avacado was fried and it made what could have been a healthy sandwich really unhealthy. Somehow having lived in the state for a while I had never visited the state capital. We had decided we would get brunch at Miss Shirley's and then go to the waterfront area. Miss Shirley's was a no go (1.5 hour plus line sadly) and we were hungry. So Federal House it was. It was packed but there was room for five. Pretty much everyone in our party gravitated towards the crab melt and the crab soup. When you call something on your menu 'Award winning' crab soup, it warrants ordering. The soup actually was really good,somehow managing to not be too heavy but still filling. There was enough pieces of crab in it for it to warrant the heftier price point for the cup size I got. Is it the best crab soup I've eaten? Possibly. I haven't eaten a lot to be able to compare. (Challenge accepted.) The crab melt was also good and a pretty good portion size, but somehow I enjoyed the soup more than the melt. My husband and I wanted to enjoy a fun day with our new baby and our dog towards the end of our maternity & paternity leave so we ventured out to Annapolis. Our journey took us to the dog beach and a really nice dog park so that we could get some fresh air & our dog could stretch her legs after being cooped up with us for weeks as we adjusted to parenthood. I was craving some good food for a late lunch/early dinner and we needed a pet-friendly spot. This came up on our radar and we decided to check it out. Best decision ever! They even had a dog menu for our furbaby with dog jokes! We got her the bow wow burger and bones which she thoroughly enjoyed. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips and I enjoyed my crabby patty with steak fries. It was SO GOOD! It was so much that I took half home and enjoyed it for dinner later that evening. We had such a great time and loved their patio seating. Service was fast, efficient & friendly which we appreciated for our first time out with our new family member! We'll definitely be returning next spring once the weather is nice again. read more

Really frustrates me because I love promoting small businesses in my hometown. I am giving a review with two stars for many reasons. I am a longtime customer and this is my favorite restaurant. We eat out maybe twice a month and most of the time we get takeout here. One of my family members has trouble with loud noise so I almost always get takeout...but the last four times the order was wrong, I chalked it up to an inability to hear me, and started bringing my order in on notepaper to the bartender. Sometimes it still wasn't right, but bartender always made an effort to get it fixed...so I tipped well. I worked for a long tume in restaurants so try not to order takeout Thurs-Sat. Today we were told the menu had changed even though the web menu was the old menu. Ok, supply and demand, I get it. The one specific item I always get was removed. Annoying but inevitable. They said they did not have an alternative to the bison burger and there was not just a plain cheeseburger. So I ordered a Hangover burger without egg, well done. I received a salty medium well burger with cheese half on, and a well done roll. Clearly the oats on the roll were grilled too long and it was inedible. I don't ask for much and I have tried many burgers in the area. I could look past being medium if the roll was soft. I understand the irony of ordering a burger with less fat, so I understood why they got rid of it. Maybe a lettuce wrapped burger might be an option? Help me out here, I hate complainers and my favorite spot turned me into one. Not coming back for a while, sorry for the staff's missed tips. read more

Delicious food and nice location. The hostess helped my group find a table shaded from the sun which was nice of her. Our server, Henri, was nice and accommodating as well. In our party of four, two of us had the crab mango salad the other two had the salmon BLT, both yummy! The iced tea is really bitter (probably just that batch) fyi haha but add some sugar and water and it will taste a bit better. Our hotel shuttle driver recommended this place for lunch and we're so glad he did! We were in town for a basketball tournament at the naval academy so we wanted something that would be within walking distance. They have a very nice, full bar area with plenty of seating. We decided to start with the crab dip, a must-have if you're in Annapolis, and it didn't disappoint. It's served with tortilla chips and baguette bread and it's more than enough for 2 people. Everything on the menu sounded so good that we had a hard time deciding what to order so we decided to split two meals. We went with the boom boom shrimp sandwich (served on a hoagie roll) and the bacon jam burger. The burger was AHHH MAZE ING! The shrimp sandwich was great and the boom boom sauce was absolutely delicious. It was a little difficult to eat on the hoagie roll (and I didn't need all of that bread anyway!) so I just ate my shrimp off with a fork. The shrimp is HUGE! Mike, our waiter/bartender was wonderful. He asked if we were splitting the meals and made sure everything was already split/separated when it came out of the kitchen. We had the pleasure of eating here for a event Tuesday 4-16-24 and we had an absolute blast. Jessica was our waitress along with a young man who's name I did not catch. We had a party of 17 including 2 toddlers. The atmosphere was great, the food was damn damn good and Jessica and her colleague made sure we were takin care of for this special event. The food, everyone was very pleased!!! Just to mention a few, 2 of us had the hangover, crab cake, crab salad, chicken fingers, tacos, stuffed shrimp, sweet potato fries and more. We were across the board with the menu and not one complaint except the crab cake was a little over priced but other than that everyone said that was really good!!! So, daughter and new son-in-law made a great choice after the event (hint hint) This event is a secret until the big one lol. Decided to dine here tonight (the outdoor fire pit got me!) and omg it was so worth it. The pot roast was tender and packed with flavors along with the squash and potatoes. My mom had the seafood pasta. The shrimp was huge and sauce was so flavorful. It had that seafoody taste! Actually better than some of the restaurants that specialize in pasta. This place is great and I have so many awesome memories here. Delicious pub restaurant in the day and early evening, and dance lounge at night. The DJ starts going and the dance floor fills fast. I have enjoyed the food and drinks here every time. The food is actually really good for a casual pub. Last time I came here I had the crab cake dinner and the chowder. Both were delicious, and a good portion for a good price. The bartenders are super cool and good at their so attentive. I was very disappointed when my husband, puppy, and I attempted to sit outside and enjoy some beverages on a Monday evening. With plenty of tables open, we were told that sitting outside was only for customers ordering food and that if we only wanted drinks, we would have to go inside. When we pointed to our puppy and the fact that we couldn't go inside, the hostess agreed to seat us. A manager soon came out to deliver food to a nearby table and when then hostess asked the manager about our situation, he told her that we could not stay. I understand the policy if all the tables are full but with more than half the patio empty, it's a shame that you forced customers to leave. read more

My husband and I had our first date here almost thirty years ago when it was still Griffin's and he was a midshipman at the Naval Academy. We are in town for our anniversary and decided to have lunch here. What a treat! Our server, Cheryl, was friendly and her suggestion of the Trash Panda IPA was spot on. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The batter on the fish was not too heavy and the ratio of the fish to batter was perfect. The fries were so good; nice and crispy and not overly salted. My salmon salad was fresh and light and the berries were ripe and delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked, a little pink in the middle just how I like it. It was a beautiful day but cool and a little windy. We sat outside under the tent and had our own personal tabletop "firepit" which helped warm us up. Our waiter Greg gave us great service, answered all of our questions and made a couple of recommendations. They shared the sirracha bourbon oven roasted wings. We also ordered individual meals: crabby patty, fish tacos and fish & chips. My fish and chips hit the spot. When Greg came to check on us he noticed tarter sauce didn't come out with my meal. l didn't even notice - talk about attention to detail! We also tried a few different crushes. My sublime crush was prefectly tart as l do not care for sugar. Overall a really great lunch experience. I believe the only meh was the black beans and corn that came with the tacos.
