I had many referrals from local friends, but everyone they recommended were either booked or not suited for a small dinner party. With 8 days left, I did what I should have done in the first place and checked Yelp. Mint was highly rated, had excellent reviews, and seemed to do smaller events. I sent an inquiry overnight, explained what I was trying to accomplish -- hire an in-home private chef, to cater dinner for 4, and included the list of food allergies. I woke up to an email from Angela -- it was very courteous, succinct, with an attached 1-pager of pricing AND a of list items to choose in each course (4 courses / 1 item each). Folks: this is how you do business, it make as easy as possible to say yes. Nobody else I communicated with was this responsive, and this easy to work with. The type of cuisine (to me: fresh / farm to table / New American) was what everyone would enjoy, with great options in each course, and their pricing was in-the-ballpark. I replied with my choices, they sent a link to contract and pay by credit card, and we were booked/confirmed in 3 emails spanning a couple hours. We had a premiere party at Castle Green in December where your only choice for catering by contract with the building is Little Lily's Kitchen. Kari and Booke were very nice, but their prices were insane for what we needed. In any case, we moved forward with an 8K invoice for a "finger-food" order for 250. When we found only 70 had RSVPd, we obviously had to honor our non-refundable contract for the 8K, which we did in good faith and ahead of schedule. But since we were at 1/3 capacity, I asked for an additional choice of finger food, which they did. The problem came in the fact that we paid for 6 servers and received 3. The food didn't begin circulating (by a very sweet wait staff) until 45 minutes after guests arrived and then it was very intermittent with many never receiving food. For 8K I expected non-stop food for our 70 guests, instead what I got (and didn't find out till later) was a lot of hungry people. On top of that, we had 16 guests report stomach issues the next morning - the commonality being goat cheese. When I addressed this to Brooke and Kari, I was not looking for a refund - after all, maybe it was a stomach virus that circulated within 24 hours, but I was dismayed by the fact that they didn't respond at all- zero, zip, nothing, not even a thank you for our business. It was the BIGGEST ripoff I've ever experienced with a caterer. For anyone having an event at Castle Green that doesn't involve a very large payout for the owners, buyer beware.

We paid a deposit to secure the date. He checked in a few days before the event and day-of kept a good line of communication with us, providing ETA. He was quick to set up in our kitchen and then the magic started. He brought his own table lights, dishware, utensils, cooking supplies/pans, etc. He offers tablecloths as well. When dinner was ready, he announced each course, sharing how the dish was prepared. The food was awesome. Just simply awesome. Pictures won't do justice, especially since I forgot to take some as I was enjoying the food too much. He buys the fish fresh that morning and you can appreciate the quality of it. And by the way, he prepped separate meals for our young children :) Afterwards, he took care of all the cleaning, cleared the tables, packed his supplies and graciously bowed out for the night. Before the surgery, I sent her my doctor-provided list of foods I could and couldn't eat along with my personal preferences. She immediately created a rough template for 3 meals a day, plus snacks. Each morning, she brought my food for the day, and at night after I had finished it all, we would talk or text so that I could give her any feedback. She would adjust the next day's meals, and we did the same process each day for about 10 days. Her food was delicious, made with quality ingredients and packed well. But just as important, she was so easy to work with and, frankly, so accommodating to my smallest feedback. She was also always so quick to respond. Literally, I could text her, see the Read notification, then see her typing within seconds. This happened most of the time. I don't think I ever had to wait more than 10 minutes to get a response.
