Anna's Is the Foundation for My Love of Food…read more I first walked into Anna's in 2007 at the old location on Three Springs Rd. I was a 21 y/o small-town Kentucky kid whose culinary range extended to chicken tenders and French fries. I had no real curiosity about other cultures through food. I wasn't looking for adventure. I just wanted dinner. Then I took my first real date there. We ordered the lamb gyro, saganaki, and tzatziki. I still remember that saganaki arriving and the server screaming "OPA!", as it hit the table. That meal changed something in me. It was my first true cultural food experience, and it expanded my imagination in a way I didn't even understand at the time. From that point on, I went almost weekly. Everything Anna touches is gold. There is intention in the flavors, pride in the execution, and warmth in the experience. One night around 2010, I was the only customer in the restaurant. Vilson was serving me. I confidently ordered a White Zinfandel. He laughed and said, "Oh, some sweet tea with a bit of alcohol in it, eh?" Then he brought me a glass of Greek wine on the house instead. That small moment meant more than he probably realized. It was my invitation to GROW. I live in Seattle now. I've become an Elite Yelp reviewer and spend much of my time exploring restaurants, chefs, and cuisines from all around the world. I seek out bold flavors. I travel for food. I write about it constantly. And yet- twice a year, every year, when I return home to Kentucky, there is one place I always make sure to visit: Anna's. Always. Because this is where it started. If you read my Yelp bio, you'll see that saganaki from Anna's has been listed as my "last meal" choice since the day I created my account. That isn't nostalgia. That's impact. Anna and Vilson didn't just open a restaurant. They ignited a lifelong passion in a 21-year-old country boy who didn't know what he was missing. Some restaurants feed you. A few change you. Anna's changed me. Forever grateful.

finally a Mediterranean restaurant in Bowling Green! It was really amazing food…read more We had the hummus, whipped feta. Both are amazing, comes with side of fresh pita bread or veggies. Falafel signature warp is good but lacked hummus in it, so had to dip it in the hummus. The veggies signature wrap with cabbage, hummus, tahini, cucumbers etc is amazing. Very good customer service also.

Food: Dry, very dry. Ask for extra whatever - hummus, Taziki sauce, ... The meat is dry, the rice…read moreis dry, the bread makes it drier. I was really looking forward to this pace after my friend posted a notice about the opening in Bowling Green, KY. My husband and I came down today for a soccer tournament and stopped in to eat prior to the game. He ordered a beef & lamb pita sandwich and I got the Original Bowl with beef and lamb. My bowl came with greens, tomatoes, their onion "salad" (I don't know what it's called a salad, there's no dressing on it. It's just sliced onions and maybe a little parsley.) and rice. It also had a container of the taziki sauce in the bowl. I poured every drop of it onto my bowl and it was still dry. Also know that if you get your food to go, they do not have salt and pepper packets so stop and use the table containers. We also got a side falafel and to round out the experience, we ordered a baklava crepe. Ok so now that we have established the dry entrees, let's move on. The falafel is good. The outside is crispy and the inside is good, not as dry as I expected after the entrees. The crepe however was awful! If you want to feel like you are eating perfume, order it. Otherwise I'd try one of the other options. All in all, it was expensive and definitely not worth it. Would I try it again? Yes, IF it was free. Then if it was more moist and a different crepe was better, I would update my review. I want to say again how much I was looking forward to this meal and maybe that's part of the disappointment. :(
