sirloin steak, bacon-wrapped prime rib and sausage

We made the trip out to Astoria, and I'm really glad we did. We ordered the churrasco combo meant for two to three people, which included sirloin steak, bacon-wrapped prime rib, plus sausage, all cooked perfectly. The portions were generous (for 2 people especially), the meat was flavorful, and everything came out just right. I also ordered a margarita, which was tasty and well balanced. The modern, clean decor paired with exceptional service made this a new favorite for me, and I'm already looking forward to going back.

Nice place to stop by for some churrasco in Astoria. We came on a Tuesday night and the place was fairly empty. We had the mixed plate with skirt steak, picanha and sausage, and the bone in beef rib. My favorites were the picanha and skirt steak. They also came with a little yuca flour and a vinaigrette to sprinkle on top of the meat. The beef was didn't have much taste and seemed a little pricey for the portion size. I had a red sangria which I thought was way too sweet, but my husband had a caprihana and enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and service was great.

Brazil is my favorite country that I've ever visited, and I can count on one hand the number of restaurants that serve moqueca in NYC. So I was stoked to check out Favela Grill on a chilly night and chow down on some seafood in palm oil stew. Sadly, Favela missed the mark on this dish--and on most of their dishes. - Caldo Verde: This was our best item, and it came piping hot and delectably creamy. But Caldo Verde is Portuguese, not Brazilian...so it's odd that it was on this menu - Salgadinhos Sortidos - Trio of fritters. The Bolinho de bacalhau (codfish) was easily the best, while the Coxinha de Frango (chicken) was disappointingly dry and the Bolinho de aipim queijo (yucca with cheese) lacked seasoning - Bife à Palito: Big portion, yes, but completely bland. How do you screw up grilled sirloin at a Brazilian restaurant? I was drowning each piece in green sauce to give it flavor - Moqueca de peixe com pirão: Sigh. Where to start? First off, this dish was $34 with just fish, and they make you pay an extra $6 if you want shrimp. I've never had moqueca that didn't include both, so to have to pay extra was a disgrace. Second, the vegetables were severely lacking: moqueca should be loaded with onions, colorful peppers and herbs, but we got very few onions and no peppers of any kind. The overall portion was also rather small, which just made me long for my days in Rio even more A bad service note: We ordered two orders of Pão de Queijo (10 pieces x 2) to go when placing our dinner order. We confirmed the order twice with our initial server, then again with another server halfway through the meal--so three times in total. We needed these ready by the time we left as we were bringing them immediately to a party afterward and were already running late. By the time we had paid our bill, the buns still hadn't arrived. We escalated this to the manager, who insisted we never placed this order--leading to a tedious back-and-forth argument. The manager finally decided the order must've gotten lost between server rotations, and we ended up having to wait an additional 22 min after paying in order for the pastries to be ready. Not nice. To his credit, the manager did give us a complimentary mousse-type dessert to make up for the trouble, but we never got to try it. Think I'll stick to West Village's Berimbau for my moqueca fix. Or maybe I'll just bite the bullet and go back down to Bahia.

Writing overview after two visits. Both times food came relatively quickly. Grew up going to a lot of Brazilian steakhouses and this spot hits the craving for me. We did regular à la carte and ordered multiple things on the menu. Pastel + coxinha were good - 6 piece come in an order and you could mix & match. Got the pao de queijo and it does take a bit for it to come but worth the weight. They are all small/a couple bites compared to the bigger versions you will usually find. For the pastel, it comes in the form of a empanada versus the classic style. Obviously, got the picanha. There was a decent amount of fat on it but easy to cut off from the steaks. The way that it was presented is different from how you get it at other churrasco but still good nonetheless. Cleared off the flan leche to top it all off - sweet, creamy, thick delicious goodness. Got a guarana and caipirinha to wash it all down. To me, Brazilian food was a treat at home for special occasions so I appreciate that there is a spot in the neighborhood with solid options.

I took my bestie to Favelva Grill for her birthday celebration after seeing this place on Instagram and it did not disappoint . The food was scrumptious, live band give the place a warm atmosphere and the staffs are amazing. We will definitely come back!

My friend and I came here for an early dinner and had a great time, and leftovers! Portions are delicious and quite generous. Service was good and the restaurant itself is very cute and in a very good/convenient location for travel. My friend studied abroad in Brazil and said the food was true to form. Would definitely recommend for any occasion!

Excellent Brazilian restaurant located well away from Little Brazil in Astoria. Favela is located on 28th Ave near 31st Ave on a quiet residential block nestled with trees. You would not know that a restaurant is in the neighborhood and is very low-key. We found a well-laid-out restaurant with a bar and TV playing soccer (football) games when we entered. We selected a table in a quiet area towards the middle o the restaurant, and everything clicked immediately; the ambiance, atmosphere, and service caught our attention immediately. We ordered octopus, camarao alho oleo, amongst other items, including dessert. We are fans and will be back!

Came here with a group of 5. They are able to accommodate large groups and they take reservations. Their drinks are strong (good) and the food was on point. We even had leftovers enough for another person. Parking was easy to find as well. For drinks we had a pitcher of Cachaca and Passion Fruit Cachaca. I recommend the regular one without flavors. For food we had Calamari as appetizers, 2 orders of Churrasco (Mixto 2) which came with rice and beans (black or red), and mash potatoes.

Great food and great service all in Astoria. My friends and I were just roaming around to find a bite to eat and we stumbled upon this restaurant and it completely blew all our minds. The portions of the food are massive -- I don't think any of us finished our food and ended up taking home some leftovers. Many of my friends have never tried Brazilian food before, so when we walked in I knew I had to make them try the Brazilian cheese bread. These are a must!!! They came out incredibly fresh and they were amazing. I also recommend getting the cashew fruit juice! It's a drink that's so hard to come by, so I'm glad I was able to order it at this restaurant. Our table ordered Tutu A Favela(pork), Bife Acebolado Com Moldovan Madeira (beef), and Moqueca De Peixe Com Pirao (fish). All dishes were incredibly delicious. I would get the beef and the fish again. We also got both mousse's for dessert -- these were a little bit too sweet for my taste.

Always a great time. The skirt steak was great. My wife had the sirloin which was also good. Service was fast and efficient.
