Do not let your excitement to adopt a puppy cause you to overlook red flags! JAMES the CON MAN owner- had no record of puppy parent weight- I needed a doggy whom I could carry everywhere- he lied about expected weight. He was so convincing, I did not suspect he would be SCAMMING ME. "Fonzi's" health certificate EXPIRED the day after I paid for her! You sign in at the front desk and then freely roam to look at animals. I didn't explore the dog areas, but there are several areas of cats, separated by fosters, kittens fresh from getting spayed/neutered, and older cats. Beware: you will want to take all of them home. There wasn't that many people there when I went, so I was able to spend a lot of time getting to know the kitties. I fell in love with a little tortie, but was worried when I saw that she had enlarged mammary glands (her lil tummy was shaved from her recent spaying). A worker in the cat room went above and beyond to help. She explained that the cat had probably recently had a litter and her milk hadn't dried up yet. But, just to make sure, without me even asking, she took the kitty back to get examined by their doctor. After confirming what I had been told, I scooped up that lil girl and adopted her ASAP. The adoption process was easy. Just a head's up: if the address on your ID is different than your current address, bring another thing with your current address on it (I used my car registration). When I went, the shelter had a promotion going on, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation, so the adoption was free. Plus spaying/neutering, Broward County pet registration tag, microchip, and all necessary vaccinations​​​​ are always included here when you adopt. I also got a cute "Gotcha Day" certificate and a free cardboard "cat-eau" :D Overall, I had a great experience adopting a new kitty from Broward County Animal Care and highly recommend that you check them out if you're looking for a new animal baby :)

Sketchy place and the worst people, so cold and heartless…read more We came in looking for our lost cat. On the first attempt, they were closed because of a meeting, so we couldn't talk to anyone. The security guard told us to come back another day through the closed gate and mentioned there's a lost pet binder. On our second visit, we parked in front and lost and found, and there was a sign saying to stay in your car. After we arrived, there was a couple who found a tiny orange kitten and tried to surrender it, so they got out of the car. The security guard yelled at them to get back in the car. They asked why, and he snapped, "Can't you read the sign" while pointing to it. They asked why again, and he didn't answer, but just ignored them. We waited for the lady to come to our car window. She asked if our cat was ours or a community cat, when we lost him, and what he looked like. We said he was a tabby, and she rolled her eyes, saying the majority are tabbies and we're probably not going to find him. We asked to come in and look, and she said no. We asked how long they keep the animals. She said usually 24 hours, even though they're supposed to keep them for 72 hours, they usually don't. We asked why. She said too many. I asked what happens to them. She said they take the address where they're found when they come in, and they release them to the same address. To me, that seems unbelievable if someone is bringing in a stray cat or lost pet, that they would just put them back out on the street. What's the point? I asked if they euthanize animals. That's when she said yes, in those 24-72 hours, if the animal is sick or can't be saved, they will put them down. I asked how it's determined, and she didn't say. We asked again to try to find our cat, and she said there's no point. I asked about the binder with pictures that the security guard told us about the first time around. She didn't want to let us see. She said the pictures are tiny and hard to see, and that it's a huge binder. We said we drove all this way that we wanted to see. She said they distribute the pets to various animal control facilities, so he could be anywhere. We insisted, so she brought the binder to the car. We did not find JJ. The security guard just grabbed the binder back from us and didn't say a word. The main lady was rude to the couple with the orange kitten. We left before we saw the outcome, but it looked like she refused to take it and gave them a pamphlet. They're better off taking it to the humane society. There was a 3rd employee in a grey shirt, along with the lady in the blue shirt and the security guard. They all made faces, rolled eyes, used huge gestures, and had terrible attitudes. I'm not sure what their problems are, but they shouldn't be working in customer service, let alone a tough job like this one that requires sensitivity. The whole thing was really shady.

At Breeder Luis Gonzalez's location a puppy was found "lethargic and cold to the touch," another dog was underweight with his ribs and spine showing; the facility had over 500 dogs." I am beyond outraged by the inhumane and negligent treatment of these animals at Forever Love Puppies in Pembroke Park. We purchased two puppies: a 3-month-old Chihuahua and a 2-month-old Pomeranian. They came home sick. No family should ever experience the fear and financial burden of bringing home a puppy only to find out it is already ill. The so-called "complimentary" veterinary visit that this store "gifts" buyers to use is completely misleading. Our puppies were never examined by a veterinarian, yet we were assured by a staff assistant that they were "perfect" without any tests or physical examination. Side note on this fraud of a clinic: When I walked out of the examination room, there was a dead dog on the bench next to a lady in the waiting room. Such a level of unprofessionalism or disrespect is unbelievable. The attendant called someone to "come get the body". Didn't offer a room for the lady to grieve and choose the urn made her pay and choose in front of everyone with her dead dog on the bench behind her. Days later, our Chihuahua puppy ended up in the emergency room severely dehydrated with signs of Ataxia, a neurological symptom. The result? Over $1,200 in emergency veterinary bills and weeks of emotional distress, all of which could have been avoided with proper care and honest medical screening. We were told that a simple fecal test would have immediately detected Giardia. That basic test was never performed, even though the paperwork states otherwise. We took our boys to our private veterinarian, and both were diagnosed with Giardia. Even more disturbing is the breeder listed on our paperwork. A quick search reveals serious public concerns tied to this breeder. When we looked up the address ourselves using publicly available satellite imagery, the location appears to be a barn-like structure with no visible evidence of adequate shelter or proper housing facilities. At the time, temperatures were around 32 degrees. The thought of vulnerable puppies being housed and possibly transported in those conditions is horrifying. The fact that this store continues to source from breeders surrounded by red flags demonstrates either a shocking lack of due diligence or a complete disregard for animal welfare and consumer protection. There is also a publicly available news report involving the owner's son, Larry Master, which every potential buyer should watch before considering a purchase. Reports and documentation show that puppies are transported in freezing temperatures, with hundreds crammed into trucks and distributed to pet stores across the country. These are living, breathing animals, not merchandise, not inventory, not commodities. This entire experience was irresponsible, unethical, and deeply disturbing. If you care about animal welfare, please do your research. Seek out truly reputable, transparent breeders or consider adoption.
