Friendly staff. Clean and is a No Kill shelter. Definitely consider adapting one of their residents! I recommend them!

never worked with this organization before, but we found a cat that we really liked. They work with PetSmart, which is great to get people to adopt. The facility is very nice and the ladies are extremely friendly and helpful. I especially wanted to thank Carol I will be supporting this organization in the future. They do great work in the facilitiy is very well run

We adopted a kitten this week and the process was a joy. Shelter facilities are notoriously underfunded, and a visit can be traumatic due to overcrowding, unsavory conditions and surly employees. Not the case with Florida Humane Society. The place is clean, not overcrowded and the folks there are great. The animals are well cared for and it was an overall great experience. Here's my black nosed beauty Susie.

First Class No Kill Animal Shelter! I had a wonderful experience adopting a cat named Dutchess at this shelter. The place is immaculately clean, well run, and a lovely volunteer staff. All Dutchess' needs were taken care of including testing, shots (up-to-date) and grooming. Each animal seems to have a personal relationship with the staff!! They know the personality and temperament of every cat and dog. They are well fed and have plenty of toys and places to rest. I highly recommend adopting from this shelter.

Florida Humane Society has an amazing staff and mission. Adopting our kitten was a smooth process with the volunteers and staff who helped us with first-time ownership questions and best practices. Filling out our application and going through the process of adoption was easy and quick. Having a vet recommendation with the first check-up visit provided by the shelter was also a reassuring aspect of the adoption. If we were to adopt in this area again we would absolutely go back to this shelter. Thank you Florida Humane Society for allowing us to meet and rescue our little girl, Toast! .

    Enjoying her new playground.....

Very nice place, the cleanest cat/dog shelter we have ever seen, Terry and MJ worked with us to get the perrrrrrect cat, and helped us to understand that this cat was a hurricane ian shelter transfer, she is getting used to her new home..... and we are getting used to her....thanks Again !!

Thank you humane society staff! (Especially MJ for being patient with my husband and I while we picked out our kitty!) She was so helpful with all of the questions we had and we are so happy to be adding a new member to our family!

Walking into this facility, it's obvious that the workers and volunteers care about what they do and the animals they care for. They give a small interview to get a sense of your lifestyle in order to match you with the best pet, and take their time while showing you all of the options and explaining the different personalities to you. We got our Lola (formally Caramel) about a month ago, and they just called us to check up on the progress of her transition into our home with her new big brother Momo. This was such a nice surprise :) it shows that they care about their animals even after they get adopted. I absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking for a new friend. A no-kill, very clean shelter with an obvious passion for saving lives and creating new families Thank you so much for letting us have our Lola :) she's the perfect fit

I just adopted a kitty from Florida Humane Society. I have been looking for a kitten for several weeks and visited several adoption places but did not find they were helpful or clean. My experience was excellent. MJ, Terry and Carol were all nice, polite and helpful in getting my application processed and my adoption complete. The facility is very clean and the cats are all well taken care of. Each of these volunteers knows about the history and care of the cats in their care. It is wonderful to see the dedication they have to this adoption center. My kitty is already moved in and we are having a great time playing together. I recommend everyone check out Florida Humane Society for an adoption.

We loved our experience with them! The staff is very professional, loving and make us feel welcomed. During the adoption process, they did a home inspection and we liked that. It shows that they are serious with what they do and don't give away the pups or kittens to anyone. Our pup was born at Rosie's. Her momma was surrendered pregnant. It was a litter of 9 perfect healthy beautiful puppies. Rosie and Wendy took care of them and momma until they were old enough to be adopted. They kept the "pet parents in contact" and every now and again we get together for puppy sibling play dates. Every time we get together we invite the ladies who took care of them and the puppies remember them! Every time time they see each other is all love, licked faces and wagging tails! We really appreciate you guys! Thanks for all you did for our little one and for all you do!

We recently adopted 2 sibling kittens from the Florida Humane Society and could not have had a better experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated their screening process to ensure the best care and placement with responsible owners. Lovely experience!

Stopped here to look for a dog to adopt. The front looks like a thrift store with stuff all over the place. Just an ok shelter that smells. Not a great selection of animals.

Often on weekends they'd bring in dogs for adoption. I saw a puppy online and fell in love with her, an hour later she was in the store and I got to have one on one with her. I put in an application that same day. Their application process is a bit lengthy, you have to put in an online application then that goes to a certain department that will reach out to you, they also reach out to your landlord as well as your veterinarian, then there's a zoom home visit and then you meet with the fosters and if everything all works out, you get to adopt the animal, this process took about a week. I was able to adopt my little girl who I have had for almost 9 months now. Her adoption fee was a little high, but I'm assuming because she's a very small dog and she's also a designer type breed, but I didn't have any issues paying that fee for her. Her fosters were amazing, and I could tell that they took very good care of her and that she was very much loved. The only issue that I do have is that the doctor that good karma uses cleared her, and said that nothing was wrong with her, however, my vet veterinarian said that she had a heart murmur. So I am keeping an eye out on that and will be sending her to a specialist. But overall, from start to finish, the process was easy and I was able to adopt without any issues. Everybody experience will never be the same when it comes to different companies so just go with your heart.

I came here by searching online with intentions of rescuing/adopting a feline friend for life. Initially I thought it would be easy to decide but the moment I stepped into the room my heart dropped. Having been a previous owner of a feline I knew what it was to care for one but nothing prepared me for this. All eyes were on me and ears alert as if to say..."pick me"..."take me home". Well, it's been about 2 mos. with almost daily visits and coming to know many of them by their name and I still haven't decided. Many people are telling me to let them pick you but I can't take a dozen of them! I'm open to suggestions but meantime I'll keep visiting and helping this animal shelter. I'm still visiting my feline friends & 99.9% sure with my decision on two felines "Duke" & "Tinker Bell"!

I went there after looking on the website at their dogs and seeing how long many of these dogs have been at APR. When I walked in on 5/8/26 around opening time at noon and expressed I was interested in adopting a dog and asked if I could see the dogs I was immediately met with a nasty attitude by the woman in the office. She said we are way too busy here for you to walk or play with the dogs and went on with a list of how they can't be bothered with me. First of all, I never asked to walk or play with the dogs - I simply asked if I could see the dogs to understand if I was interested in one that you currently have to know if it made sense to go thru the application process. I'm a professional that works from home and would love to rescue a dog that needs a good home and I was spoken to like a child being scolded. This woman was disrespectful, condescending, and down right rude. The stench and filth in this office matched with the nasty difficult attitude immediately made sense as to why these dogs are not getting adopted out. I hope the board for this establishment understands they need major reform. I would be concerned as a donor to this establishment thinking my money was going to get these animals homes only to find out the difficulties the community faces when trying to adopt here. Sad situation, this place needs to be investigated..

However, I visited this "rescue" today with my children, and I was absolutely appalled at what we saw! Wish I could give zero stars. Where do I begin.... For one- as soon as we stepped foot inside, we had to literally hold our breaths from the stench. The place is filthy-there is urine and fecal matter everywhere. And it only got worse as we walked around.. It's so overcrowded with way too many cats sharing small spaces. There is an obvious lack of necessary supplies like water and food -the cats are so skinny and clearly malnourished. The dogs don't appear healthy either and there are at least two sharing each cage, surrounded by urine and feces also. We felt so sorry for these poor animals and our hearts were breaking! :( One woman working there came to greet us. The other few staff/volunteers were either sitting down looking at their phones or in the back not helping. I wish these animals could all find loving homes, of course, but until then, it is the job of the shelter to properly care for them. The "United For Animals Rescue" is understaffed, under-equipped, and clearly do NOT genuinely care about the health and well-being of these needy animals! It's so very sad. I should have taken pictures, but the odor was so unbearable that we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. All the positive reviews are from years ago. We have visited there in the past, and I remember it used to be great. I don't know why or how it got so bad there, but something needs to be done IMMEDIATELY PLEASE to prevent these and any more helpless animals from suffering any longer!!! **HOW DO I FILE A REPORT FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS?!?**
