I recently had my 2018 STI with only 350 miles serviced at Faulkner Subaru due to being misaligned from the factory. Upon return of my vehicle, I noticed my trip meter had registered 15.7 miles, my boost gauge's peak PSI had been reset to zero, and the SI-drive system had been switched from intelligent to sport mode. The mileage is the least of my concern as I can understand the need to thoroughly test the alignment. But the other two indicate to me that the vehicle had been driven hard and/or carelessly by a technician during the recommended 1,000 mile break-in period, with the boost gauge being reset to hide the peak that it hit while driven in sport mode. I contacted both the service manager and my service advisor to discuss the situation. I was told by the service manager that the technician denied changing these settings and may have 'accidentally bumped a button'. For one, is the technician really going to admit that they did this? Not likely. And also, both of these items require intentional actions to reset (the boost gauge is a press and hold for approximately 3 seconds and the SI-drive mode requires turning a knob by hand). Neither one, let alone both, are likely at all to be set accidentally. It's extremely disappointing to have custom-ordered my STI, waited two months for it to arrive, and followed the break-in recommendations religiously... just to have someone else treat it carelessly in the first few hundred miles. Now I have to be concerned about issues that could arise in the future from that sort of treatment. I've purchased 2 vehicles and have had 3 of my Subarus serviced at Faulkner Subaru, but needless to say I will likely be taking them elsewhere from now on. read more

I made appointment for oil change and tire rotation. It took them 2.5 hours to complete. Found the service associate rude and condescending. Won't go back. I bought my Subaru Outback in a different state and every Subaru dealer I have had service has given outstanding service. Not Faulkner. Steer clear if you can. Three strikes and you're out! We are a Subaru family so I've been taking my car to Faulkner Subaru in Harrisburg since it is the closest place. Three times I've asked them to do something during routine oil changes and three times they have failed to do it. Once was greasing the axle,the second was changing the air filter and yesterday after asking them to top off fluids I try to use my wiper fluid as I'm leaving and see that it is still empty! I was planning on buying two new Subarus as well in the not to distant future so that few gallons of wiper fluid caused them to miss out on about 40,000 dollars of revenue. It always seems like they are trying to squeeze out a few more dollars from your order looking for things you didn't ask them to do instead of doing a good job with what you've requested be done. read more

The service my wife received today at Faulkner Subaru in Harrisburg was appalling and unacceptable. At a prior visit for routine maintenance she was told that two parts needed to be ordered and replaced. She returned today for installation. The first was the 12V accessory power socket in the center console. The second was a trim piece that had broken off of the hatch gate. After waiting an hour, she was shown the very trim piece she was waiting to have installed--unpainted--and told that she would need to come back for installation after it was painted--"in a few days". She was previously told the piece would be painted and ready for installation that day. She was then told the 12V outlet was replaced, and that she was ready to leave. She got in the car and checked the 12V outlet. To her disbelief, it still did not work. She went back inside and spoke to the very mechanic who had replaced it. When asked if he replaced it, he replied affirmatively. Then, she asked if he had checked to see if it worked. He replied, "No. I was told to replace it, and that is what I did." The mechanic and a customer service rep proceeded to the parking area and replaced a fuse in a matter of seconds while she stood and watched. The socket then worked. This is indicative that no diagnostic was done, and that instead of replacing a $0.33 fuse, the entire unit was replaced unnecessarily, which was to be at our expense. She told the customer service rep that she would not be paying for the 12v outlet, to which he agreed. She lost over 2.5 hours of work time, including an hour-and-a-half roundtrip drive, to sit in the waiting room while a part was replaced unnecessarily, and while another, which was to be ready for installation, was not. The fact that the original, nonworking 12V outlet was never examined, but rather that a replacement was ordered and unnecessarily installed, then never checked after it was replaced, is utterly incomprehensible. We regrettably forgave a prior flub at Faulkner Subaru's Harrisburg service center earlier this year (Jan 2014). She was told then that her air filter needed to be replaced. What the technician didn't know was that this very air filter had been replaced at another dealership just 6 days prior. We now know that if she hadn't spoken up, the technician would have replaced it and charged us anyway. These significant and blatantly deceptive incidents, combined with Faulkner's poor record keeping (having wrong mileage and wrong license plate on service receipts/forms, inconsistent reports on brake wear, no record of service, etc...) and poor customer service (was never informed that car was due for 60,000 mile major service until she inquired about the 67,000 maintenance, no oil change reminder sticker, randomness of car washing or lack of car washing, etc..) are more than enough reason that we will no longer be making the drive to Harrisburg, and will be pursing service through the reputable independent mechanic we should have been using all along. Additionally, we will be advising our family member who is currently looking to purchase a 2015 Subaru not to deal with Faulkner. . read more

My wife bought her Forester new at Faulkner. We purchased the best warranty they ofered and the time and had the car serviced multiple times at the dealership. Once the warranty expired they began routinely recommending unnecessary services. "Your vehicle needs new tires." And, "your brakes need to be replaced now." Really because I just replaced both the brakes and tires recently on my car. I got home and checked the pad thickness of these "worn out" components and they were at 75% of new thickness. They car it a stealership for a reason old Faulkner's is no different. Find a good independent mechanic and take your car there. read more

Took 10 days to get an appointment, then was told I was 152 miles over the warranty and it needed $1800 in wheel bearings. Car only had 60152 miles on it. Staff was also rude to another customer in line and rolled eyes in front of other customers when I left. Horrible with a capital H. Took my car in for a H02 sensor. I knew what was wrong with it and wanted a quick fix. I wrote on form heat sensor in reference to my code that the engine was throwing. Took it in sat for 1 hour. Terry came out and told me what I already knew. I declined them doing the service since they did not have the part to begin with and it was overly priced by 300+$ than where I can get it other places. On top of this I was still charged 74.15 to be told what I already knew to begin with. I am extremely upset as I have used Faulkner before and had no issues. I contacted Faulkner Harrisburg after hours through its chat feature on its website. I was contacted the next day, as requested, by a representative of Faulkner's online sales department, who e-mailed me a quote that was better than the quotes I received at two other dealerships. When I visited, Rick helped me with my purchase and provided a trade-in quote that was better than book, given the work my trade-in vehicle needed. I was there on a busy night, a Friday on the last day of the month, and the only annoyance was a bit of a wait for my turn with financing. That said, Rick and Justin (finance director) were very helpful with a couple logistical issues with my trade-in. All went smoothly, and I've been enjoying my Outback for these two weeks since. Faulkner has followed up with me to ensure my satisfaction. I'm impressed that this dealership invests resources into every aspect of the sales process. Nothing is rushed or glossed-over. I feel bad for a relative of mine...who gave up $2,000 on a down payment on a Used Subaru from Faulkner and it was the week before Christmas. Not even a month goes by and my relative owes for repairs...Where have we heard of this before...The "diagnosis fee" $120, and gets nailed for a rental car fee and towing charges. My wife went in for an oil change, tire rotation, and then got her air filter replaced. She was listed for 53 minutes of work and got charged $90 for labor. After calling for clarification I was told there are flat rates for labor on the parts she got so she automatically got charged around $20 for someone to replace an air filter. I don't blame the mechanics for this as it is not their job to set pricing but whoever is in charge is gouging people. She will not be returning for any service needs. read more

This review applies to the Mechanicsburg store that was Cumberland Valley Motors until recently. My wife and I showed up about 40 minutes before closing time on a Saturday, and wanted to drive a Forester. Our salesman, Ben, was very patient with us, never made us feel rushed, and ended up staying until well after closing as we discussed a deal, having made our decision to purchase a Forester. The specific color combo and trim line we wanted was not in their inventory, so they had to trade for it. We were called the following Monday (i.e. two days after our visit), and told one would be delivered on Tuesday. Since we had plans for Tuesday evening, we made arrangements to pick it up Wednesday. Our Tuesday plans changed, and Faulkner and Ben went out of their way to get everything finished for a Tuesday pickup. This once again required them to stay well beyond closing time. Everyone involved was pleasant, and if my research is at all accurate, we got an excellent price on the vehicle with a few extras thrown in. Our financing is less than what we originally expected for the term length we wanted. Naturally they presented us with extended warranty options, but did not push when we declined. Based on this experience, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Faulkner. That opinion will change if we have issues with their service dept., but service is hopefully a ways down the road. read more

I went it for a complimentary brake check. I was told rotors were "warped" which is shorthand for a technician. So it's not warped rotors but instead unevenness due to runout. Anyway, I declined their fix - not sure if it was to have them "turned" or "ground". Regardless, I had no pressure to go with the repair. While my car was there, they completed a recall fix. Yaa!.. I like Faulkner but they can be pricey. However, when I'm ready to buy a new car, I'll go there. read more

I was in on Saturday for three things: 1) Windshield wiper recall 2) Have my snow tires put on 3) Have my new tire pressure sensors registered to the car I assume they did the recall and I know they put my snow tires on but they didn't register the sensors to the car. I drove home with the old tires in the back so the low tire pressure light never came on but when I took the old tires out and drove later that evening, the low tire pressure light came on. Now I have to go back there again and have them do what they should have done the first time. read more

Sort Story: I bought a used car with significant hidden damage that the dealership was aware of. They did not disclose any information, and they refused to resolve the issue with me. They are horrible people. STAY AWAY!!! Long Story: I bought a used 2008 Subaru STI from Faulkner, and it seemed to go great. I got a great deal on the car, everybody was helpful, it was all smiles and handshakes. In just a few short months, the car had been in for repairs several times. None of the repairs were covered by the horrible warranty I was sold and they were almost all in excess of $1,000. Over time, I got to know some of the service department due to my frequent visits for repairs. I learned through the service department that they had known the previous owner and he may not have cared for the car too well. I became suspicious. Recently I was in Salt Lake City, and the car broke again and I had to go to a local dealership there. Another $1,300 repair that was not covered by the useless warranty. I was complaining to the dealership in SLC about what crap the car was. They began investigating the car history and discovered that the previous owner had damaged the vehicle to a point where it needed a new engine, along with 9 other major repairs. Not only was Faulkner Subaru aware of this considerable damage, they did the repairs! My numerous visits to the repair shop were trickle down problems from the damage the previous owner did to the car. When I confronted them via telephone, the manager I spoke with knew exactly which car it was when I told him I bought a used car and had repeated, serious problems.They told me if I didn't like it, to call Subaru. This is exactly why people think used car dealers are shady. Faulkner will shamelessly sell you a damaged car, lie to you about it and then deny their actions in the face of the truth. These are the people who give car dealers a bad name. Bottom Line: These horrible people will knowingly sell you a junk car, and go home at the end of the day with no shame. read more

The wife and I decided that we would like to add a third car to our home we decided to start with Faulkner. We purchased a Honda, and then a year later a Mazda for this dealer and were treated well enough. This was not the case during our recent efforts to buy a vehicle at the Subaru dealership. Since we had such a positive experience previously the wife decided to visit by herself, and was engaged by one of the employee who failed to call her back after a test drive for over a week, but she continued to search because she really wanted a Subaru. So, I agreed to come with her for a second visit (Sat. 6/16), where we met Robert. He showed us a Forrester, which was a little more than what we thought we wanted, and an Impreza. We test drove the Impreza, and decided to check out a Toyota at another Faulkner that was inside of our agreed budget, but quickly decided after driving it that the Forrester was the better fit. We returned the same day, told Robert that we would like to test drive the Forrester he had shown us, and waited while he was working with another customer. After a while his manager Lenny(?), gave us a set of keys and suggested we take a drive by ourselves, which turned out to be a different Forrester than we had been looking at. No problem, we at least got to drive a Forrester, but it was the end of the day and we were getting the impression that everyone wanted to leave. Monday (6/18) morning I called Robert to discuss the car, since our visit was on Saturday afternoon, and asked him about a few details. He stated that he would check and get back to me in five minutes, he called me back two and half hours later and told me that the vehicle had a recall on the seat-belts and would be ready Tuesday. He stated that the shop had his card with the keys and that we would "get first crack" at the car. At this point we just wanted to test drive the car we were going to purchase, made that clear to him, and scheduled a time to come in and finish the sale. He stated he would call me when the car was out of the shop to ensure everything was ready. Tuesday (6/19) I called before leaving the office, because Robert hadn't called me, and left a voicemail. When we arrived Robert explained that the car had been sold a few minutes before we arrived. After expressing that we were not impressed and were not happy, he proceeded to tell us that some people buy a car during the first day and others take a longer, implying that we were at fault for taking so much of his time. When we countered with the fact that we had scheduled a time to complete the sale and that he had told us it was in the shop and we "had first crack" at it he told us that we would have needed to put down a deposit to save the car. Since this was the first time we had heard of it, we told him that if he had mentioned that we would have. At this point my wife was getting very upset and after an uncomfortable silence with us standing in the show room, stated that we would have to go somewhere else, to which Robert agreed and waved us out while we left. After leaving, to prevent an escalation of tempers, I called the dealership. I asked to speak with the manager to relay our experience up to this point, and was connected with Lenny(?), who stated he was a manager. I began to explain to him our experience and our disappointment with the lack of communication, respect for our time/effort, and level of professionalism, specifically the last discussion we had with Robert. Lenny(?) then proceeded to state that they couldn't hold cars, that deposits were only when the price had been negotiated, and that he didn't understand why I was upset. I reviewed our encounter again, and itemized the complaints, to which he replied by stating he knew that the wife had been in previously and that relationship had soured. I informed him why, told him we had purchased our last two vehicles from Faulkner, and stated that we were done wasting our time. He complained that we hadn't given them a chance, which the first sales person and Robert apparently didn't have, and he wanted to try to help us. I agreed, with little confidence, and now that it is Monday (6/25) without communication I can see even that was misplaced. We are thankful of a couple things regarding our experience though. We decided to buy a Subaru, even in the face of this experience, to the point that we were willing to drive an hour away to buy one. We also have a better idea of when we are willing to expand our budget requirements, even after wasting the time we have with this dealership, so our options are much broader when we buy my new vehicle next year. Lastly, I am sure when we decide to replace my car that I will be buying a Subaru, but probably not from Faulkner, and certainly not from that dealership. read more

I recently purchased a used vehicle from this dealership. The first thing that I thought was shady about the transaction was: once the paperwork was approved, and I was signing paperwork, they brought out a warranty paper that was not in the vehicle. Originally, it had a limited warranty. During the signing, they brought out a warranty paper stating "as is" because of a few modifications. They stated the wrong service number was written on the original paper, and had to fix it...how convenient. The second thing that really pissed me off was the lack of appreciation the manager showed. He was supposed to sit down with me and go over the financial paperwork but quote "was swamped, and my salesman can review it." Thanks guy, just because I am not buying a brand new 30K vehicle, I am just some worthless customer. You do not have the time in your day to review this investment. It may not be much to you, but it was a substantial purchase for my family and I. So my impression was, I was not spending enough money to dignify him with the hassle of processing my paperwork. Let me clarify though; the sales rep I had was fantastic. He was extremely personable, and very helpful. I would rate him personally with a 5. However, the rest of the organization seemed shady, and unappreciative of customers who do not purchase new vehicle, or spend tons of money. I went to Faulkner Subaru to take my wifes car in for an oil change. When I went to pick it up the lady at the desk says $70 for the oil change I then said you're kidding me right so she gets this service writer and he goes oh that vehicle has to have synthetic oil so then I got stuck with that Bill. Then the following week before we were at cape cod and the vehicle got stuck in the sand I had to pay 150 dollars to get it towed out of the sand I ask if this vehicle supposed to be all wheel drive and this young kid couldn't even answer the question let me tell you when you go buy a car there they will kiss your ass but after that they're very rude and not very pleasant people I recommend to all my military brothers and civilians do not buy a car there if you do you're a fool all I'm going to say if you feel like being treated like a peasant that's a place to go to read more

My other half is ready to buy her first car. She even negotiated a deal with Faulkner Subaru. We drove to the dealership this morning and asked for Kim, the internet sales contact with whom the deal was negotiated. We were immediately handed off to Frank who proceeded to ask all kinds of questions about the type of vehicle she is driving right now (to feel out a trade in) to the type of vehicle she was looking to purchase. Then Frank went on to extoll the virtues of the Subaru all-wheel drive system. We explained, in a rather exasperated fashion, that we already did our research and that a deal had already been reached on a specific car -- we even had the stock number for the vehicle. Frank then stated he was checking to see if the car was available. Turns out, the dealer negotiated a price on a vehicle they didn't have. So we wasted two hours of our time going to the dealership, fighting to pull into their tiny, over-stuffed parking lot and sitting around answering a bunch of Frank's pointless questions when the vehicle we wanted wasn't even present. We left unhappy and peed-off. How this place stays in business with their tiny parking lot and shady dealings is beyond me but, "to be sure," we won't be back. read more

I would not recommend buying a used vehicle from this place. My husband and I purchased an 08 Jeep with only 23,000 miles on it at the time from this dealer back in Jan 2013. We also purchased a warranty with it. Within a couple months of purchase, the jeep left us sitting when it wouldn't start. We had it taken to Faulkner who said it was the fuel pump & they replaced it. Within maybe a week or two, we continued having the same issue & we had it towed back to Faulkner a couple more times only to be told they had no idea what was wrong, they couldn't fix it & suggested we take it somewhere else!!! If you're going to sell used vehicles and offer warranties, wouldn't it make sense that your mechanics knew how to work on all types of vehicles? Instead we were sent off with a vehicle that was/is unreliable & pretty much told we were on our own. We're still having issues to this day. We will NEVER give business to Faulkner again. read more
