Working with Meg and the team at Fathom Gallery was nothing short of a dream come true. From start to finish, they were an absolute delight to work with and truly brought every part of my vision for my birthday dinner to life. The space itself is stunning the beautiful brick walls, gorgeous furniture, and large windows create such a warm, stylish, and inviting atmosphere. They also work directly with RSVP Catering, and that experience was just as amazing. Working with Casey and the RSVP team was seamless, and the food was absolutely incredible. Every single guest was raving about it! Everything came together perfectly, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Fathom was the perfect space for my 30th birthday celebration with about 40 friends. I am a professional events manager and wedding coordinator, so I have been in LOTS of different DC venues. Feathom is gorgeous and requires almost nothing at all to make it shine. Inside, the brick walls, sleek lounge furniture, professional lighting and big windows make the space feel chic and open. The rooftop is unmatched. Big boxwoods, string lights, flower boxes, professional sound system to set the vibe- it is perfection. My guests were absolutely blown away by every detail and shared that they, too, will soon be hosting their celebrations with Fathom. The space is designed for parties so the planning process is turnkey. They include printing of whatever photos you'd like for the gallery frames and ghost mirror, you simply share the files ahead. Their sound system is wired to have different sound levels in every room (including outside) and it's all easily controlled on an Ipad. You just share a public spotify playlist- could not be easier. There's a fun white board wall for which they provide colorful markers. Their team keeps the bulding clean and organized, and because they host so many events- they have small things you may have forgotten and are generous with offering them to you in a pinch. Emily and Grace are incredible to work with. They make the process easy, providing everything you need right from the start so there are no surprises or stresses in the planning. Ramiro worked our event and was exemplary- going above and beyond with set up, bar service, and break down. Plus, the owners are deeply charitable and support various non-profits in DC. It feels great knowing that a space this lovely is run by such lovely folx. read more

Attended a wedding rehearsal dinner/welcome reception at Fathom Gallery. Cute hidden gem right in the middle of DC. The gallery is a great venue space with a large room for dining and mingling, and a natural bar setup. Best part hands down is the rooftop patio garden. Very lush and feels serene in the middle of the city. The gallery accommodates the event so in our case all the art was changed to pictures of the couple! Very cute read more

What is it that makes an event venue worthy of stardom? This is the question that shapes this review, the question that--in many senses--shapes our lives. I was at Fathom Gallery for a company holiday party. (Note that due to the nature of this review and the fact that they are watching, I will not speak about the quality of the people at the holiday party.) Fathom Gallery is simply a space. It looks like the living room that you might find in someone's apartment. There is an oven too. Just loitering around. I wonder what they do with the oven. It's stainless steel as well and looks sleek. Two (2) stars are attributed to the appearance of the space itself, with one and one-half (1.5) of these stars attributed to the oven. A beautiful oven indeed. It's a shame that there was nothing cooking in it. O, think of the many loaves and roasts one could make in such an oven! One (1) star is attributed to the quality of the consumable products available at the venue. I am somewhat sure that the food I ate was not actually prepared by Fathom staff (I've already mentioned the oven, whose beauty and sleekness was likely attributed to its lack of use), so I won't go into detail on that front. I will say that there were many sliders. These sliders were as dry as the Saraha in a sandstorm and patrons were expected to sauce their own sliders. While normally I fully support self-saucing, in an environment with much drink, such an endeavor becomes increasingly difficult. Fortunately, there were many liquids, provided by Fathom bartenders, to quench a parched mouth. Needless to say, any and all thirst was quenched. Finally, one (1) final star is attributed to Fathom Gallery's successful fulfillment of its intended role as a space and shelter. The venue functions as an architectural structure that provides protection from the local environment, i.e. rain, wind, and other elements of the natural world do not penetrate the space within. (I cannot speak to the presence or absence of animals, such as rodents. While I did not see any rodent during my time at Fathom, it is possible that they occasionally exist within the space. This is fine. They are not causing us harm and can subsist in peace.) Overall, I would recommend Fathom as a good choice for your venue and shelter needs. read more

This isn't a review of Fathom the company, which I'm sure is great, but of their upstairs gallery, which they rent out as an event space. I highly recommend it for your 50-100 person event. The aesthetics are fabulous--a symphony in minimalism (uh...so I guess a Philip Glass symphony). There's a big kitchen as well as lots of great on-site extras: 36 ghost chairs; tables; banquet chairs; a big projector; wifi. And don't forget that ChurchKey is right next door, so you can roll your guests 10 feet for a 555-beer after party. Ooh, and I haven't even mentioned the toilets. They're nice. Like everyone else this is a review for the fabulous event space on the second floor. I had my 60 person wedding here last Saturday and everyone had a wonderful time. There is an expansive roofdeck in addition to a nice indoor space, and some quirky touches like a "ghost mirror" that shows photos when you look in the bathroom mirror. The space is really perfect for parties of 50-90 people, and working with Emily was a pleasure -- she went above and beyond in showing us the space multiple times and making sure we were all set up for the wedding. We paid $5,000 for the evening, for an event running from 5-11, with 2 hours for set up and an hour of cleanup. Having looked at a number of other venues in DC, this was our favorite due to it's great location in the city and fun feel. It also included indoor and outdoor speakers that connect to an ipod for playing music (just keep in mind that they aren't heavy duty speakers, so you should think about bringing speakers with bass if you plan to set up a dance floor). I would have loved to give more stars, but the air conditioning was on the fritz during our event, so the inside temperature hovered around 78 degrees. There was a heat wave going on, and Emily did bring up fans to help, but this is an event space so I would expect their air conditioning to be top notch. read more

Like those who have come before me, this is a review of the event space rather than the company. Came here a few weeks for a photography exhibition, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the display of the photos and the ambiance of the event. The upstairs gallery is perfect for a small-scale screening or showing. The lighting is bright and flattering, the bar is accessible and practical, and the rooftop is just divine. It's nearly twice as large as the inside space, so if you're planning to hold an event here, be prepared for your guests to spend the majority of their time oowing and awing at the outside surrounds. Would highly recommend this space to anyone and looking forward to attending my next rooftop soiree here. read more

I worked with the Fathom event planners to organize my company's annual holiday party. In our search, we were looking to steer away from a generic bar event to mix the party up. We were looking for a unique space that accommodated a 3-hour, continuous flow of about 100 people. The gallery space was the perfect size for our event and the event planners at Fathom were incredibly helpful every step of the way. The outdoor space was the icing on the cake. We rented 2 outdoor heaters from Fathom which allowed for guests to stand/sit comfortably outside for the entire night. The small touches in the gallery (ghost mirror displaying our company logo, white board cabinets in the kitchen/bar area) really added to to our event. I would absolutely recommend this space to anyone looking to host an event and look forward to hosting events in the future at Fathom! read more

The Fathom Gallery is a hidden gem in Washington, DC :). The venue has so much character. It's not at all a traditional event space that you would find at a hotel or convention center. The rooftop terrace is beautiful. I had my micro wedding there last month it was beautiful. I think it's the perfect place for intimate affairs :) read more

I am extremely disappointed that I chose this venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. We had planned our wedding from California, so we booked the venue site unseen based off of reviews. Because of this, I feel obligated to write a review based on our experience. Our contract stated "The Gallery' Special Events Manager will be accessible throughout your event. The Manager will ensure that the venue and surrounding site are ready for your event, and will meet with you prior to the beginning of your event. The Manager will be accessible to you at anytime during your event, and a contact number will be given to you to reach the manager if they are away from the venue. The Manager will meet with you again to coordinate the ending of your event." Unfortunately, the special events manager had a medical emergency, which meant NO ONE would be available for our event the entire day. This led to several issues. First of all, our photographer was unable to meet my husband and his groomsmen at the allocated place next to venue for pictures prior to the ceremony due to no one being able to answer his questions about the venue while trying to set up. Secondly, the alcohol that we had dropped off at the venue for our caterer to serve at our wedding was stolen from Fathom Gallery by the event from the night before. We were not informed that our alcohol had been stolen until less than half an hour before our wedding ceremony, so my husband's groomsmen were busy buying booze with my husband's credit card at the nearest liquor store minutes before our ceremony. Fathom eventually refunded us for the alcohol 5 weeks later. Fathom never took responsibility for the events that followed due to the absence of the special events manager. As far as the rest of the night goes-- my guests had no idea where to put their bags so personal belongings were thrown all over the place, we were unable to figure out how to dim the lights, we couldn't find whiteboard markers for the cabinets which they had advertised, and no one checked in with us or was available for questions. The only apology I received from anyone came two days after the wedding in the form of an email from the event manager which stated "I was very sorry to hear about the alcohol confusion, but from what I understand together we were able to get replacements prior the the bar being open, and the event went well after that point". When we asked for an explanation as to how our alcohol was stolen from the previous night's event, the only explanation we received was that something like that had never happened before. I was very unhappy with how the owner, Bill, treated us after the event when I spoke to him on the phone. If I could do it all over again, I would not choose Fathom Gallery. Their lack of responsibility in regards to not upholding their end of the contract was not only frustrating, but also really disappointing. Brides beware, this is not a venue that will be considerate or respectful to you as a bride in the event that something goes awry. read more

I had a recent birthday party at Fathom, and while the venue is beautiful, everything else behind the scenes was a complete and utter mess! The staff is super incompetent, rude, and unresponsive. I worked with Kristen initially and everything seemed to go well until she had a last minute "emergency" and handed me and my party planner off to the very rude Emily, via email, 1 day before my event. When I arrived for the final walk through, Emily had attitude all over her face. She clearly didn't want to be bothered and I suspect race played a HUGE factor. Then all of a sudden all of the agreements I made with Kristen changed. All of a sudden, I was no longer allowed to have the DJ echo music on the deck, even though Kristen said I could, the windows were no longer allowed to be open, even though Kristen said I could, and a number of other issues. Emily also started to text me during the party with her nitpicking complaints instead of going through my party planner and her assistant. She later tried to hold my deposit, even though she confirmed in writing that I would get it back. She blamed their approved caterer for being late and completely threw them under the bus to me, but did the same to me to them. Her attempts to quote the contract feel flat. When I finally got them on a call to discuss, it was clear they were extremely unprepared. I guess they thought I would just go away. I wasn't. It was like Kristen had been prohibited from speaking and she sat back and allowed Emily to lie and further confuse the situation. My planner and I were stunned at their unprofessionalism. While the space may be beautiful, please RUN in the opposite direction of Fathom until better staff is in place. Take it from me and spare yourself the nightmare! read more
