Dave showed up at my front door asking us to move our cars because they were trimming some of the neighbor's trees on the property line. While he was out, we asked for a quote to remove some diseased pines we had. He gave a very fair price, provided proof of insurance before his guys started, and was super quick. They did a great job, and even spread mulch across the area they had just trimmed. Have used this company once in the past and it was great but not sure what has happened since. Called about 3 weeks ago and Karen came out to look at our fallen branch to remove, gave me a quote and I told her that same day we would move forward with this quote and gave my approval. She said Dave would follow up, never received a call or text from Dave. called Karen back a couple days later as this branch was a hazard and needed someone out ASAP, she said she would speak to Dave and have him contact us. Again no call from Dave and Karen called me back saying they would be on site by end of week(before friday). Here we are 2 weeks later with no call, no show and no returning of calls. We have tried calling Karen, Dave and the main line. Nothing, save your money and go somewhere else, if you can't do the work don't give me a quote and now we have to find another company and hope the branch doesn't fall on our house. read more

After recommendation of friend and positive posting on this site, I hired FATHER & SON TREE SERVICE to remove a tree. I was appreciative of their quick response and removal of the tree. HOWEVER, their equipment left serious stains on my recently power washed 120 ft. driveway. Before vacating the premises, I spoke with Dave regarding it. He indicated the "stains would fade away." Two days later I tried removing the stains with 5 different cleaners including a highly rated driveway cleaner with a power washer. Didn't work! After 2 more conversations with Dave, Father & Son Tree Service's response was to leave a carton of kitty litter and a jug of bleach at this 75 year old's back door. There was no response to my email with before and after pictures. I had to hire someone to clean the most stained section of the driveway, leaving the rest for another time. If you choose to hire this business. do not let them use their equipment on any hard surfaces in your landscape. read more

That same day they sent out someone to treat some of my struggling trees (which are now thriving). Same experience as others have shared. Dave totally screwed us around. We scheduled with him to remove a bunch of shrubs and underbrush along our fence line so we could have a new fence installed. The plan was for Dave to work in conjunction with the fence company, and both do the work on the same day to make it easy on everyone. On 3 completely separate occasions, we were given an exact date and time by his company that him and his team would be showing. This was also coordinated with the fence company. On each occasion, Dave and his team were a no call no show. And each of those times the fence company assembled an entire crew and were waiting at our house with myself or my wife (who took the day off work for the appointment), just to have Dave not show and not even give a call to offer an excuse. And for the record these no shows all occurred on beautiful sunny days. Weather was not a factor. Anytime we attempt to call him directly we are unable to get a hold of him. He does not return calls, emails, or texts. When we get a hold of his companies main line they say they are not sure why he never showed, and they will tell him to call us immediately. No one ever does. This has been a monumental waste of time and resources for myself, my wife, and the fence company we are working with. It has cost the fence company money by assembling their team multiple times, and cost my wife and I vacation days from work, just to not even be offered the decency of a return phone call to explain why he never showed. I don't think I have ever had a worse experience with a company. Completely unprofessional. read more

We've had other tree services not come out to quote, not come out after they've quoted, and/or come out, snip off a few branches and then disappear not to be heard from again. Father and Son came out on a Saturday morning, walked the property, explained what kind of trees we were dealing with, and gave their professional recommendations. The price was in line with market, they showed up on time and when promised, and did more than what they originally quoted to make sure the job was done right. (Almost within the hour) Based on the promptness, and the quote being fair, I decided to sign the quote and was told "about 2 weeks". After a few months, with repeated attempts to contact them, I finally just found another company to do the work. Over 2 months ago father & son quoted a long overdue tree trimming. i was told they would complete the work within about 10 days. They also conned me into a deep root fertilizer treatment that day that I didn't request or need. I paid $400 for that. No one has ever come back to trim my trees and they don't even return my calls. I recognize there have been some storms, but seriously 2 months when the tech told me that the trees should be trimmed before they got too heavy in the fall. Very dissatisfie. read more

Find another tree service company other then Father and Son. We had used Father and Son in the past with no issues until this summer. We were quoted a price by an associate. Dave then came out asked for more money and promised he would do more. Well, they didn't finish the job and left branches in the river. Yesterday we had an appointment with Father Son Tree Service to remove several overgrown yews and some dead garden shrubs. This work was important to us because we had scheduled the rest of the weekend for replanting with another crew. Our appointment was at 2pm. I took the afternoon off from work so that I could make sure all the work was done in time for the next stage of the project. One hour after our appointment time, when nobody had showed up, I called our contact at the company, Dave Jenkins, and left a message. No response. At 3:15pm, I called the main company phone number and told them that we had an appointment and that nobody had showed up. The receptionist took my name and number, promising she would call me "right back". She never called me back. My husband and I followed up at 5pm, three hours after our scheduled appointment, and no answer. I understand that schedules can change, things can happen, but we really would have appreciated a return call to let us know what was going on. An explanation and an apology would have been nice. Something similar happened last year when we booked Dave Jenkins at Father Son: He blew off our first appointment, calling us the next day to let us know that they cancel their crews when bad weather is in the forecast. It never rained, and nobody told us that policy, but ok. We are new suburban dwellers and chalked it up to inexperience on our end. So we rescheduled and we were blown off again. We called and called and were told two weeks later that there had been a death in the family. We were sorry to hear the news, understanded completely and allowed Father Son to proceed with our project. That is why we decided to use them again this year. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Potential clients, beware: Father Son will answer phone calls to book new service. But don't expect them to show up on time, if ever! It was a cold call but Brian was so knowledgeable about our trees we said yes to his crew comming to prune our Giant locus and very mature Black Maple. Within 3 hours the guys were up in the trees cutting, sawing carting, grinding and sweeping up the mess. In less than 2 hours they were finnished. They also removed a big pile of old branches from a year ago .Thanks Brian for comming by, the trees look great. I had two large maple trees damaged by a severe storm. Several limbs broke, many fell, others dangled from the trees, and there were many large limbs and lots of smaller debris left on the ground. I requested a quote from Father and Son Tree Service on a Monday after the storm and received a visit within a couple of hours. I was told it would take a couple of days before the work would be done due to the amount of work they had because of the storm, the time estimate was volunteered by them, I just wanted to be sure the work would be done by the weekend, 6 days. I called several times during the next two weeks and was told the work would be done the following day. The work was eventually done twelve days later. During that time I rented a chain saw to cut and stacked the debris and hauled what I could to the curb in trash bins. I estimate that I did about 30% of the work that I contracted Father and Son to do. Their clean up, once the work was, done was mediocre. They had to be reminded to replace a large garden ornament which was moved to prevent damage. read more

They charged for trimming an oak tree and never did the job. They charged up front and then refused to refund the trimming of the oak. Do not even accept a quote from this company.
