My Maple tree had been dying back for about five years. Finally I decided to have it removed. Steve, the Supervisor at Alpine quoted me a reasonable price and Told me they were busy, but would take care of my tree. They showed on on time; ready to work and they worked quickly, safely and cleaned up as they worked. Their guy who climbs the trees equipped with safety lines and wielding a chainsaw was most impressive. What bravery! And very skilled! They chipped the branches and took the tree down to the surface if the Ground in about fifty minutes. The price was right and the guys were all fabulous. I couldn't be any happier with the job. I haired Alpine Tree Service to remove one tree and the stump from my backyard. They did a good job with the tree removal, however, they said they had a problem with the grinder machine and that they would come back within next few days to remove the stump. They never did! They offer me to retain $100 dollars from the total price we agree upon and the balance to be paid when the job is completed. I have called then many times, I have left messages on their answering machine, and I have spoken with someone who promised to send someone to finish the job (Doug). Stil, no response. I finally gave up and I am contracting another companhy to finish the job which might cost me $300 dollars. I wonder if they will even offer to pay the difference. Umbeliaveble how unprofessional. We had alpine tree service come out to cut 2 trees down and grind the stumps. they did take the trees down and clean up but said they could not grind the stumps that day. We proceeded to contact them three times to come back out and complete this job. The owner kept telling us we are on their list. They never showed up. We requested a refund and said she had to talk with the owner. Then asked them to have the owner call us. She then said she was the owner. She finally agreed to send a check. low and behold no check after 14 days. Went to the business to pick up the check. Once we got the check she emailed us and said we are not longer allowed on their property. Very strange because nothing happened to cause this type of text. We deposited the check and found out 2 days later they put a stop payment on the check. please beware of this company read more

In just 45 minutes, he had an estimator on site and within 48 hours of my call, the trees were removed with no damage to my property and no sign left of the trees. Highly recommend. We needed a couple of trees cut down due to the summer stom damage. I responded to a mailer and alpine came out and gave a quote right away. They were in my neighborhood doing some work and called back with a better price and took care of the job in a couple of days. They did a great job of cutting the trees down and cleaned up the loose branches. The ground was a little soggy, they maybe could have popped out some of the impressions in the yard, but over all a great job and price. They will come out later to grind the stumps. NOT PROFESSIONAL AND OVERPRICED Refer to pictures: I received a quote in February before the pandemic shut-down. Then, in October (once the pandemic situation improved), I contacted them to hire their services. To my surprise, they needed to re-quote. But, as described in the pictures, the original quote of $1800 became $3000. Under the argument that the original quote was to low. I had even removed 2 out of 11 original trees my-self, so I told him that I was expecting either the same or lower price. His cynical response was that "I should have removed them all". Now I understand other Yelper's frustration with pricing. While it's ultimately up to the consumer, and it is my fault for going along -- I blinked, didn't stop and reassess, and Alpine got one by me. Several months after receiving a "good for 30 days quote" we decided our tree had to be removed and called Alpine. Second quote, 85% higher. No rationale provided. If your project is delayed, imho, it may be more time consuming to start over to research, request, receive and review qualified bids, if your situation is anything like our's, financially it is worth considering that it may be worth your extra effort. After a couple phone calls to follow up with completion, except for feeling violated about the price paid, the tree removal was completed satisfactory. read more

Wow, I am still in shock that this happened to our property and I have Never written a poor review of a small business, but think other prospective clients should know that Alpine Tree is careless with their project's work orders and has extremely poor customer service. We asked to have 5 - 6 Very large and difficult trees removed off of our property (which they did just fine), only to discover the next day that they went ahead and withOUT our approval removed another Massive very stable tree stump that had living vines wrapped around it, and live electricity hooked up to it, and that added such a great look to our backyard - we did not want this removed. When I asked how they could do this without our approval (I was So upset that this really beautiful piece had been removed without asking for this to happen) the owner not only got aggressive with me but told me that he did us a favor & underpriced the job! Beware of A.T.S! Here's why: A two week advance appointment was made with Alpine tree service to make an estimate for tree work. Two weeks later on appointment day; they never showed up at their scheduled time slot. Shortly afterward, I called them, only to be given the assurance, they'd still be there in a couple hours. Sadly, they never showed and didn't bother to call with an explanation; how thoughtless and unprofessional. Their guy gave us an estimate and my husband got another from a different company that was $1000 less. They showed up the next morning with chain saws. We told him we hadn't signed a contract and had a cheaper price. He agreed to do more than originally bid. Surprise that wasn't actually done. The storms came later that night and we lost power. We received a flyer that Alpine would be doing work in our subdivision and we were in need of help removing dead trees that posed a threat to our home. I left a voicemail and received a call back within 24 hours. The appointment for a quote was scheduled for 2 days later. Doug, the Manager, arrived on time and was very knowledgeable. He provided a quote onsite. We called two days later and got on the schedule for later in the week! The crew showed up on time, with great equipment and busted their tails in the freezing cold to do the work. Doug was onsite and answered all of my questions. We were very happy with the service. The quote was detailed and competitive with others we received. Alpine won the job because of their customer service. I contacted Alpine for crown cleaning of a large River Birch very close to my home along with the removal of a Maple tree that was also too close to the side of my home. I got several quotes but Alpine came to my home exactly when they said they would, and Kyle, the sales rep quoted the job precisely the way I wanted it. The crew came on the day and time promised and with more equipment and manpower than I would have expected. Kyle was on site too, to make sure the crew did what they were supposed to. They worked fast and had my River Birch elevated and crown cleaned and my Maple down in less than 45 minutes, I was amazed at how fast they worked. They did an excellent clean up of my yard and the stump grinding followed immediately after with a different crew and was equally amazing. Alpine did an excellent job. The salesman, Kyle, was very professional and knew how to strategically expedite the tree/stump removal while keeping our yard's integrity. Considering it was such a wet start to the year, this was very impressive. We've had some trees- quite a few trees - that have been dropping rather large branches since we moved into our house in Lapeer. Got them quoted by a competitor and they were $700 more than Alpine. Alpine was able to get the trees down in the same week they were quoted and not only that but got all the trees down quickly and efficiently! Some near power lines, some hanging over the house, etc. it was explained to me by the previous company who quoted how difficult they thought these trees would be. I'm glad we chose Alpine. My opinion, READ ALL REVIEWS BEFORE HIRING. You might notice a common theme of these guys not doing what they say they're going to do. Look at the pictures attached to this review as well and do not fall for it like I did! I paid 6,500 for removal and hauling of all debris, grindings and large wood on the property - all of which is specifically listed on the estimate, which I have attached to this review as well, including multiple loads of large wood to be removed. I paid in full the day the crew arrived to do the work. They showed up on a rainy day around 10AM and left around 3PM, hardly a days work, and left a large amount of dropped trees, huge sections of stumps they cut and a massive amount of debris remaining on my property. After nearly 3 months of me hounding them and multiple commitments from Doug at Alpine Tree Service that were never honored, I now have to hire a new company at a significant additional cost to remove the wood and debris that Alpine left behind. I did follow their complaint resolution process, and the office seemingly wanted to resolve the matter - they did come back to pick up a few piles of large wood initially left behind - but in the end they failed to complete the job. The pictures attached show you what they left behind after collecting the $6,500 for the job. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - BEWARE! The crew seemed to do the work fine. I couldn't pay right then because I was on a work call and couldn't come to the door. They wanted 4% for credit card. I told them I would mail the check. Literally 10 minutes later the office lady called and demanded payment. I said I'll mail the check and she said 'you signed a work order that said payment on completion.' She also said that unless they received the check on Monday (today is Thursday) they would take legal action, and she hung up on me. Appalling behavior. Incomplete work - suspected property damage-threatened a lien on property- Alpine did a small job for us, and refused my suggestion that they schedule the job while someone was home. They requested that we leave the payment on the door, but we did not. Good thing too, as when we returned, the job was not finished to our specifications, there was a plastic bottle and branches left on our lawn, and our fence had a freshly broken slat. When we discussed this with the salesman, he denied responsibility, but offered to complete the work to specifications. They returned again when we were not home, even after we urged them to meet us to ensure clear communications. The job was not completed and the discussion became belligerent and confrontational. The unpaid bill was turned over to the office, who unilaterally declared that the job was fully complete, regardless of our statements to the contrary. The office manager threatened to file a contractor's lien and we concluded our experience with a small discount off the quoted price. Now that's customer service!! read more

DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. They butchered one tree they were supposed to cut 5 feet up of branches off our pine and they cut 10-12 up, the tree is ridiculous and will now have to come down. They also cut 3 trees down and in the process trampled our yard and made a mess. The workers threw our yard furniture and pool toys all over the place and had a total lack of respect for our property and our personal property. Don't be fooled by good prices. I do not recommend this company because 1. They didn't finish the job as requested and understood by the salesman 2. After several phone calls, The salesman, Dustin never brought his Crew to remove very very heavy pieces of cut tree by the road and our yard. The logs were to stay where the tree was cut down (up a small hill) So we could use for firewood. 3. Another large tree was removed on the property and the large falling Branches destroyed two old hughs along the driveway. Think long and hard before hiring this company. read more

I worked with Lee on the quote and scheduling. The crew removed the trees quickly and cleaned up sufficiently. The only issue I had was that the stump grind was never completed. While I did not pay for the service (Alpine uses a separate company to do the grind) the expectation was that the grind would be done timely after the tree removal. The quote included the stump grind. I had to call another service to have the work finished. And now I know why Lee didn't have me pay for that part with the tree removal. I have recommended Alpine to my neighbors. But warned them to set up their own stump grind. read more

I had a terrible experience with Alpine Tree Service. The only reason they are getting one star is that they were prompt, other than that, total disaster. For starters, they dropped a large branch on my neighbors roof causing damage, as well as ripping out their cable/WiFi connection at the house. To make matters worse they didn't tell anyone about the damages. They did reimburse them for the cable hook up but that's it. On my property they gouged my concrete driveway with their skid steer, smashed my concrete fire pit, and damaged my seamless gutters. All of the damages went unreported to us and were found after we started to inspect the property the next day. I immediately made them aware of the damages, sent pictures, and repeatedly called their office. I haven't heard from them in 9 days so I have finally decided to post this review read more

They were surrounding a large deck, and they were pretty closed in with surrounding homes, fences, and wires. This was NOT an easy job. But Alpine Tree Service made the job look easy. Extremely professional and efficient. We had 11 trees cut down, half of which were very large pines and were either close to or leaning towards the house. The trees were taken down efficiently and safely and the trees that were close to the deck and house were taken down bit by bit to make sure they wouldn't harm our home, deck, or landscaping. That same day, our neighbor behind us had an old growth maple between his house and his next door neighbor taken down. On both jobs, they did a great and safe job and cleaned up the yards as promised. We had quotes from three different tree services and Alpine was by far the least expensive and most professional.
