Fatburger near casino
Paul D.

I mean the food...it's ok. I've been to others and maybe they have a better place in the city. Service is chipper but they were apparently understaffed. This is near casinos and whatnot so it was just convenient to have this nearby but noisy environment it was just meh so so.

1/2 lb Fatburger (all the Works) with Fat Fries and drink.

This review is for Fatburger in Gila Casino Resort's "Food Court". Quotes are intended because there are only two food stalls in "Food Court". Food: - Large Meal ($14). -- I heard about Fatburger, but never tried it. The Large Fatburger (1/2 lb) with all "The Works". The burger was nothing special. It's better than McDonald's, Wendy's, or BK--but not as good as In-and-Out or 5 Guys. -- Fat Fries are also okay. I little limp, but they do give you a HUGE portion! -- Drink. Meh. Drinks are drinks. Service: Painfully slow. There were only about 8 customers, but I waited over 15 minutes. Mostly, because the employees were yapping and playing on their phones. Ambiance: It's a small "Food Court". Enough said. Overall: Sadly there are not many "economical" food choices at Gila Resort. There is an AMAZING Asian Fusion restaurant onsite (Ling & Louie's), so I would pay a little more and skip Fatburger.

Fatburger Fact: In the 1950s, owner Lovie Yancey worked 16 to 18-hour days at her Fatburger counter, seven days a week. Fatburger became popular with people who worked late night and early morning shifts. Are you the every day proletariat? Do you just want a no-frills burger? Come to Fatburger! For being in a food court at a casino, you really can't complain too much. Yes, you're paying like $8 for a burger and $15 for a combo but once again, you're inside a casino. The quality of the burger isn't bad. It's juicy and the beef patty is on the meatier side even. But like all the eateries here at Wild Horse, they lack seasoning. I hope Dean and Sam Winchester never gets trapped here with a ghost because there isn't any salt anywhere on the premise to save them.

The Large (1/2 pounder)! Not bad!

I was heading home from a doctor's appointment when I realized the traffic going into Maricopa would be backed up as the commuters were heading home; not to mention construction on both sides of the freeway closed down one lane on both sides. So I decided I'd wait it out somewhere or drive to Casa Grande and drive to Maricopa from there. Since I was hungry and I knew I'd be late for dinner at home, I decided to stop at Wild Horse Pass Casino. After I dropped a twenty in the slot machine, I wasn't sure if I wanted a full sit down dinner at the cafe or Ling and Louie's. Then I noticed a pizza place and Fat Burgers. After I saw the menu at Fat Burgers and their burgers started at a mere $8.00, I was sold. I decided on a one half pounder and a side of chili fries. The burger was pretty good. I got it with all the fixins'. The chili cheese fries weren't bad. I did wish it had more chili flavor. But the meal itself was more than sufficient. Would I order it again? The burger yes, chili cheese fries, probably not!

Inside the food court at the casino. Burgers, fries, onion, rings, milkshakes. This was my first time ever eating at a fat burger. I heard good things, so I was excited to try it. I did the original, with cheese, grilled onions, and no pickles. I had a meal with Onion rings and l a soda. The Onion rings were light and not heavy, I liked that. The burger was OK, I just wish it was warmer. My slice of cheese was not even melted.

Every so often I need to do something out of character. Going to a casino and having a Double Fatburger seemed weird enough for a Friday afternoon. LOL One of my coworkers owed me a lunch, so I suggested coming here to collect. Since I wasn't paying, I found my Double Fatburger to be delicious. As my SoCal Yelp friend Rohlin A. says: "The food always tastes better, when someone else is paying." And, the burger wasn't as greasy as some my past experiences, just good ole cooked red meat. Right now, this casino is renovating their food court area. So this might be my last chance coming here. The smoke inside aside, they do a brisk business.

We used to go to Fatburger all the time and then they closed the location in Gilbert. My daughter looked then up and we found the one at Wild Horse Pass so we had to go just for old times sake! Needless to say it was exactly as we remembered. Their shakes are AMAZING, we got the strawberry and maui banana. Now I'm not a big banana fan but I have to say that their banana shake is really really good, so creamy and yummy. We all got burgers with Fry's, onion rings and sweet potato Fry's. The onion rings were ok, the sweet potato Fry's were so friggin good I almost didn't eat my burger and the skinny Fry's were delish! Only part I didn't like...the price! $45 for 3 meals and 3 shakes but since it was for nostalgia sake I'll chalk it up to a memory...for burgers a Fry's. If you're in the casino or close by and you've never had it I'd definitely recommend it. I'm not a huge burger fan but if I have to eat one I want it to be a fatburger

Get the half pound burger with cheese, bacon and the egg. Add the steak fries. Everything was hot and I had so much satiety halfway through the burger. The food gets 5 stars. The line is slow and the dining area is sorta filthy, but I enjoyed my burger.

Get that Fat fry fix that in n out can't cure

I've had Italian Beef before. I've loved Italian Beef before. But nothing--NOTHING--prepared me for the transcendent, jaw-dropping, flavor-explosion experience that is ordering the Big Beef DIPPED at this Chandler location. If you haven't done it yet, you haven't lived. And if you've had it elsewhere but haven't had it here with their cheese sauce... well, buckle up, because you're about to discover your new favorite thing on the entire planet. From the second you walk into Portillo's on Ray Road, you can smell the magic--crisp sport peppers, rich au jus, and that unmistakable aroma of slow-roasted beef that makes your stomach growl instantly. But the real moment of truth comes when you look that server in the eye and say: "I'll take the Big Beef, DIPPED, LOADED with cheese sauce. And I mean loaded." Watch their face light up--they know. They understand. This is not just a sandwich; it's a ritual, and this location performs it with reverence. Then it arrives. Oh. My. Goodness. The bread is drenched--and I mean perfectly, gloriously drenched--in that deep, savory au jus, so every inch is saturated with rich, beefy flavor. It's not soggy; it's luscious. It's a sponge for joy. And then... the cheese sauce. Sweet, spicy, velvety, liquid gold--it's like someone took pepper jack, dreams, and a touch of heaven and whipped it into a creamy, molten ribbon that cascades over every millimeter of that dipped bread and tender, shreddy beef. The first bite is not just a meal--it's a religious experience. The crunch of the giardiniera, the pop of a sport pepper, the warm, juicy beef, the cheese sauce pulling in golden strands... it's an OMG moment so intense you might actually forget your own name for a second. You'll hear yourself making sounds you didn't know you could make. You might cry a little (happy tears). You might order a second one before you've even finished the first. And here's the thing--the Chandler location executes this with flawless, almost artistic precision. The line moves fast, the staff is smiling, and they don't skimp. They don't hold back on the beef, they don't drizzle the cheese sauce like it's an afterthought--they PILE IT ON with pride. You can tell this team lives for these moments. They're not just serving food; they're delivering pure, unadulterated happiness. Even the atmosphere feels electric--like everyone in the room knows they're about to have their day made. You'll see strangers nodding at each other in mutual respect over their sandwiches. You'll hear "OMG!" echoed across the dining room (seriously). And when you finish that Big Beef Dipped--cheese sauce glistening on every corner, not a drop of au jus left--you'll sit back with a food coma smile so wide it hurts, already plotting your next visit. Bottom line: If you are within 50 miles of 7200 W Ray Rd, you have no excuse. Go. Right now. Order the Big Beef DIPPED with EXTRA cheese sauce. Thank me later. And maybe bring a napkin--because that cheese sauce is so good, you're going to want to lick every last drop off your fingers. Five stars? Try FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS PLUS A STANDING OVATION! This is the best sandwich I've ever had in my life, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal to be this good.

This Whataburger location is a few minutes away from the casino on the way back to Phoenix. Ambiance (N/A): I used the drive through to place my order. Service (4/5): While service wasn't a big part of the experience, the lady taking my order was friendly. She also asked if I wanted regular or spicy ketchup. My food was ready within a reasonable period of time. All in all, what you hope for when you're ordering fast food. Drinks (4.5/5): I spent four years in grad school in North Carolina so I'm a big fan of sweet tea. Whataburger has freshly brewed sweet tea. And even their medium size is a Texas-sized cup. That makes their beverage options a winner in my book. Food (4/5): I'm from Texas and Texans are big on Whataburger. It's nice that they have several locations in Phoenix. It reminds me of home. Some of my favorite items on the menu include the honey butter chicken biscuit (on the breakfast menu), the honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich, the chicken tenders basket with gravy, and really any of their burgers (pretty solid for fast food). This time around, I went with the avocado burger which is served on Texas toast. It's not everyday you find avocado on the menu at a fast food joint. The burger was above average (I came in with the proper expectations). What I really enjoyed is the fries which were fresh (rather than sitting under a heat lamp like you typically get at a fast food restaurant). With their homemade ketchup, it made for the perfect side. Whataburger by no means has the best burgers in town. Not even close. But if we're talking fast food joints overall, they're top five in my book (I may be a little biased ;)).

But recently we met there just for dessert, and I have to say... I was wrong. The frozen custard was so good. Super creamy, rich, and somehow still really affordable. I still haven't tackled the butter burger situation yet, but if the custard is any indication, I may have been underestimating Culver's all along. When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong.
