    Corn salad
    Garrett R.

Nice new addition to the restaurant scene. Located in the quiet lil town of Santa Margarita, you'll find a hidden gem. A family-owned business that gives you an at-home feeling, and the ambiance of a backyard barbecue. As a first visit, I wanted to try a lil bit of everything. I ordered tri-tip, chicken, pulled pork. mac n chez, and their corn salad. Their tri-tip was cooked ideally, Santa Maria style, and was cooked to perfection. The chicken was served in a Carolina-style mustard sauce, and very tasty. The pulled pork was cooked well, and served in a smokey barbecue sauce. Finally, the mac and chez was a great bit of homestyle deliciousness, that had a variety of cheeses in the mix. Beverages are available, and beers are ice cold from buckets. I have nothing but good to report as they get their feet on the ground and start running.

Location. Outdoor covered patio at J's.

Great food! Had 1/4 lb of each of the pulled pork, pork belly & tri-tip. Also, the potato skins were delicious. Will be back for more!!

I believe it's in their Downtown district, but don't quote me, but when it comes to hamburgers, I know it's always best to find the local spots instead of the national chains. The moment I walked in, you could tell it had a full on local vibe. Pictures of the customers were all over the walls, including the ceiling, and I thought it was great. The employee behind the counter greeted me with a smile, helped me navigate their menu, even struck up a quick but good conversation. I went with a turkey burger and really enjoyed it. A lot of times they can be pretty dry, but this was juicy and had a great flavor. If you want a "real" hamburger, lol, they had a huge number of options. The fries were really good as well. If you're in Atascadero and you're craving a hamburger, I think you'll find this local spot pretty good.

It's super family friendly, and our son loves the toddler play area. Our nieces also love the arcade games, so it's a great spot for kids and families. The beer is the best we've had in Atascadero, especially the west coast-style pale ales and IPAs like Atasca-where-o, Afraid of the Grade, Mouse Rock, and Hop Clarity. The staff has always been great, the indoor/outdoor space is awesome for groups, and having a full kitchen makes it even better. We even hosted a small lead-in gathering there the night before our son's 1st birthday party, and it was perfect. We're excited to keep coming back and becoming regulars.

This makes total sense knowing that the owners came from San Diego and both worked for PPBC. Being familiar with Wild Fields award-winning brews we settled for the flight and then added some food later. Being a West Coast IPA couple, we were not disappointed with their draft offerings. In addition to IPAs, they have a good representaion of other styles, so there will be something for everyone-as long as they like beer. Wild Fields also puts together a home-brew competion, fuly embracing their community and craft beer roots. The winner gets to brew a batch of their recipe on the house system and this ultra low alcohol, smoked wheat beer was one of the most unique beers I've had. For the food, we had pulled pork and loaded mac-n-cheese. Pulled pork was fine, but I'd prefer more smoke flavor and aroma. For loaded mac, the protein is polish sausage-not something I've seen before. While it somewhat works, I don't think I'd order this again. They also had a ticketed comedy show, which we stayed for after the official closing time on a Saturday. It was fun and totally worth it. With their strong local connections and family atmosphere, Wild Fields in Atascadero is worth the detour from SLO and Paso destinations, especially for families.

We had time for dinner so off we went. Hum whats nearby the theatre, alot of places to eat really...we'd liked the A town diner before, the menu covers it all practically so...We parked seven o'clock the dinner tush had passed and in we went. We were seated at a small booth, perfect. Drink orders taken now we needed to decide what to eat. M went with a light breakfast offering a pancake, a scrambled egg and bacon. Hum it was dinner time dear, I needed more time. The fish & chips were the special and it was Good Friday but I went big with the hot pastrami sandwich. Fries are extra so I ordered the onion rings to accompany the sammie. Pretty quick the food was out of the kitchen and on the table in front of us, wow M dove right into that 7" pancake as soon as she finished pouring on the syrup. My sandwich was a hood size on a very soft french roll a good six inches Very tasty but I always think there should be more meat than bread, there was alot of bread in that roll. Where's the beef, right... Onion rings, nothing special your average frozen beer battered Moores onion ring served late but freshly hot. We had a good meal, good service and a fair price. Was it five star, no it was a good four star, we didn't need or want anything special. Now dessert was a calling from behind that glass display when we walked in the door but tonight the stomach and the wallet forgave. We were gonna need reason for movie concessions, right?
