I was up in Templeton and I asked a friend where could I get some Mexican food. She suggested this place and said it was good. The place is very non-descriptive and there are other Mexican restaurants near by. I don't now the servers name, but friendly and checked on us. We were give chips/salsa and water. My husband had a Pacifico and I had a Blue Moon Beer on tap. My husband and I both got the carnitas with rice and beans. The carnitas was good, would have loved more seasoning. Came with your choice of tortillas. I requested sour cream and that was no problem. The prices were very reasonable, usually we had to pay more. The decor was OK, clean and spacious. read more

Having driven by this place countless times on 41 we finally stopped in to try it out. Nice old school ambiance with the tiles and booths. It is a bit cozy, but not too bad. They were nice and kid friendly for our 3 year old. Menu is easy to read, not too many options like some other places. Service was good, they seated up and got us water right away. I ordered a medium burrito because I was fairly hungry, and it was pretty big. It was well seasoned, great flavor and not overly salty. Carnitas was juicy with a few crispy bits. The medium burrito should be more than large enough for most people, as it was the same size as a large burrito at other places. Good food, good service, easy to find location. We're looking forward to coming back to try other dishes. read more

The wife and I shared a Taco Tuesday special with 4 tacos for $10. Had two grilled chicken and a Al Pastor and a carne Asada. Also added the Bean Dip appetizer which was completely unnecessary but very tasty nonetheless. Will certainly return to check out other options. Located right across the street from the Atascadero Lake/Park/Zoo, on the 41, is El Taconazo. With its own decent size parking lot, you should have no problem parking. They have seating outside, but due to rain, inside it was. The inside looks like a traditional Mexican restaurant. Frescos on the walls are a great touch. We were greeted by Cristal. Cristal is awesome. She is a very hard worker. During lunch, she was running the front of house by herself. We honestly didn't have to wait for anything. Drinks, chips and salsa, our food, refills of chips and drinks, and check, zero wait. She was on the ball! Her customer service skills were high level. We were given chips and salsa. The chips were bubbles, salty deliciousness. The salsa is very tomatoey, in the best way possible. Their chips and salsa are my favorite in North County. I ordered the Chile Relleno Giant Burrito, no beans, with grilled chicken. It was huge! The tangy sauce, melted cheese, creamy sour cream, and guacamole, coated the top of the burrito, like a beautiful blanket of love. The soft tortilla wrapped around the fluffy rice, charred grilled chicken, melted cheese and vibrant chiles. Acidity, fat, creamy, salty, smokey, soft, smooth, charred bomb, layered with depth. My granddaughter keeps telling me I needed to eat here! We had takeout last week and she was right. The food is good, yes, but even the refried beans tasted creamier! Everything was fresh, dinners came with fresh lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sour cream on the side and the salsa and guacamole was fantastic. Now our #1 favorite here in A-town. Arrived at 8:00 pm this Monday night. Only another party of 3 there and closes at 8:30 pm. Fast, efficient service and the cooks, amazing!!! Ordered the shredded beef chimichanga ala carte, boy oh boy, that was a priceless piece of art. Stuffed with cheese, green chili sauce on top, a salad (cheese, tomatoes, fresh lettuce) going around the plate and nice dollops of sour cream and guacamole. I left my phone in the car and didn't want to stop the excitement. Also got a cheese enchilada. A sauce for those yells everything, yes yells! Orange-reddish color, lots of sauce, good amount of cheese. Ask our server at the end if homemade, she said yes and everything pretty much made in house. The SO ordered dinner combo #2 with rice and beans, a chicken enchilada and beef soft shell taco. Not sure if comes this way but I prefer the hard shell. Tasted his chix enchilada, a little too saucy on the chicken the broth it was cooked in, but delightful. Salsa fresh and flavorful, chips crispy and warm, guacamole - yummy. First off, this is a weird little place. They could do so much more with the patio, and make it beautiful, but they don't. Still our go to place for burritos, and the salsa is great. Very tasty, but not very hot, we would prefer it to be hotter. Again, very tasty though. The beer is very cold, and tastes delicious on a warm Atascadero afternoon. 6-7 options on tap, including Bud light, if you are so inclined. The prices are very reasonably also. We've eaten just about everything here, and have never had a bad meal. The burritos are spectacular, especially the Chile Verde burrito, which my brother from O.C. called the best burrito he'd ever had. The staff is usually good, but the indoor eating area needs a remodel. But food wise? The best in A-town. read more

We came on cinco de mayo and the special was chicken in mole and....oh my gosh!!!!! The mole sauce was so tasty (I wanted to drink it) and the chicken was exceptionally tender and delicious. Can't wait for next year's cinco de mayo. I'm dreaming about that mole sauce now. read more

We stopped here on our way from Morro Bay back home to San Jose on the recommendation of my sister and her husband. It was about 12:30 on a Sunday and the place wasn't busy at all. The staff were super friendly, very quickly seating our large party (nine of us). Drinks came right away, they were very accommodating with special food requests, and the food was great!! One of the best meals we had on our long weekend (Pismo, Paso Robles, Cumbria, Morro Bay). If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to stop again. read more

This has been our neighborhood, go to , place for many many years. We've always had good service and good Food, when it was 'Marina's'. But things have changed, the name, that's ok, the sort of decor that's ok. The different waitress on Saturday night, not ok. She didn't bring our salad and my margarita was 3/4 full. The topper, our bill came and we had an "NCA" charge. We asked about it, the waitress said it was a charge for using our credit card, she said there was a sign posted outside because this charge was implemented a week ago but "they took it down". She didn't know why nor did she tell us we would be charged. It was not anywhere in sight to notify the customer. We have never had this charge in the 15 years we've been going there. With so many other equally as good Mexican restaurants in town, guess it's time for a change. We look for honesty not cutting corners and passing off charges to customers. We've tried to support our local restaurants during this difficult COVID time but we expect these restaurants to also support their local and loyal customers. Goodbye El Taconazo read more
