I like it here! It's a small restaurant, you order your food at the counter and then go sit and wait. Sometimes it can take awhile, but for good reason. Their food is delicious and made to order! Only complaint I have is that portion sizes could be a little bigger. The location and setup of the dining area doesn't have much to offer, but the food more than makes up for that! read more

This is hands down the best BBQ place in Quincy. Definitely a hidden gem. Their box o bones is my favorite and something not very easy to find around here. Their greens and cornbread are also unbeatable around here. Great prices and portion sizes. My only small gripe is that I wish their business hours were more/longer, as we had to try multiple times before being able to try it out, but I completely respect that they put their family and family time first, as more businesses and employers should, so I guess that falls into the positive category. We aren't too sure why this is getting such high ratings. We were not impressed. First off, the young man running the cash register needs to speak up and speak clearly!! I asked for fries as a side, which they don't have, and he mumbled something so I asked for fries again. This time he said that they don't serve fries. WHAT?!! No fries! I ordered the Fatback sandwich($7.95) which came out cold and had a soggy bun. I had to eat it with a fork. My husband had the Double Play Platter($13.95), which was also barely warm. The baked beans were over sweet and had no smoky flavor (needs bits of there smoked meat in it). The mac and cheese was runny and pretty tasteless. The place was clean, including the bathrooms and the service was quick for a Saturday night. Unfortunately we will not be doing a return visit if we are in the area. read more

Holy moly y'all! That's all I have to say. This is a small family owned restaurant, and has a definite bbq southern style feel. Being from southern Texas, I love that! After trying their beef brisket sandwich with Mac & cheese, it left me wondering how this place isn't jam packed? I have come to the conclusion that maybe it is their location. Their homemade bbq sauce is absolutely delicious, it has spice, but at the same time it's sweet and tangy! Their Mac and cheese is absolutely DELICIOUS, I'd frequent this establishment for the Mac and cheese itself let alone all of the delicious bbq. We went there about an hour before close. They were out of ribs, which was a bummer for my husband. He got the brisket, which was good. I got the pulled pork platter, which was really good. The problem I had was that the platter was 9 bucks and the portion was fairly small. I don't know if they were rationing because of shortages, or if that is the standard size. After reading the many great reviews we tried FSR. We ordered the full slab of ribs dry and the pulled pork platter. We are new to the area and have had BBQ all over and wanted to try this local bbq in the rough. The ribs larger than most and were good but a bit over cooked on top. That could have been part of the dry vs wet cooking. The meat was good but not fall off the bone good. The pulled pork platter was tasty as I mixed the tangy and sweet sauces. The sauces were good but a bit thin vs thick which I prefer. The sides of Mac and cheese, beans, Cole slaw, and rice were decent but not anything special. As noted by others the rice is spicy and the Mac a bit plain. The corn bread was very good. As far as the atmosphere it smelled good and the baths were clean. The staff was friendly but could be more engaging with newbies. No plates and plastic utensils made the experience a bit challenging. Fatback's is a great and often overlooked spot in Quincy, especially for lunch. They are also known for treating veterans right, which is always a good thing. Had the pulled pork nachos during my last visit and they did not disappoint. They had the right mix of pork, sauce and jalapeños. Wow! I've eaten here twice now, and both times have been incredible! How in the world did Memphis BBQ get to Quincy, IL? The beast BBQ Chicken I have ever had in a restaurant! Amazing collared greens and the BBQ is great as well. They aren't on the menu but sometimes they offer Burnt Ends and you should always check to see if those are available. Service can be a little slow but the people are nice so as long as you arent in a hurry it's not a big problem. Overall this is definately one of the BEST places to eat within 100 miles. read more

We ate there this evening. The brisket was outstanding. The best I've had outside of Franklin's in Austin, Tx. Great flavor, moist, tender, great smoke ring, and delicious. My wife had the pulled pork and reported it to be average. I tasted it and instantly remembered why I always ordered brisket. Not that it was bad, but just average. I've been all over the United States and have had a lot of BBQ, my biggest disappointment was in the pricing vs. proportion and plastic utensils made you feel like you were struggling. The BBQ smells good, but when it comes to taste, it was extremely reliant on the sauce instead of how the meat was cooked. However, for the most part it was good, I would suggest improving certain techniques, being less reliant on your sauces for flavor, and increasing your proportion size. read more

Nothing is bad here. It is the beast BBQ around. If you live in Quincy you already know this. If you are passing through and you like BBQ, you have to eat here! All of the meats are smoked and tasty, they have a good BBQ sauce and all of the sides are fantastic. I especially like their green beans and cornbread. The restaurant is on the small side and they close far too often for my taste but I highly recommend it. AWESOME! read more

I was so glad to get to taste this food. I was one of the members of the traveling team and we had a whole spread. I love the sauce, it was sweet and spicy. The chicken was cooked well and even though I don't eat beef, I had to taste the brisket because it looked so good. It was tender and juicy. The cornbread and greens were like my grandmother's. I appreciate not having to eat pizza and McDonald's all weekend while at basketball games. If we are back I will definitely return. read more

I asked the woman up front I would like a slab of ribs and could you please cut the ribs individually so my family and I could eat them because we're traveling back to Kansas City. She asked the woman in back if they could do that for us and she said 3.00 it would cost you! That's like giving you a chunk of brisket and say cut it to make your sandwich.
