Highly recommend Fat Tire Tours. We took the 5hr electric bike tour. It was incredible!!! What a perfect way to take in all of the sites as a first timer. This tour made our trip!! A truly enriching experience. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable. She knew so many fun facts about every site that my mom and I would not have captured on our own. She really was terrific! We had plenty of time at each site too. We never felt rushed to move to the next monument and the bikes were easy to use. Thank you Fat Tire tours for a lifetime of memories!

Biking through the national mall on our private tour. Little one toasty in the trolley.

Booked the day tour and our tour guide was Ben. Awesome tour--accentuated by the fact that it was November and my family was the only one booked, so we essentially got a private tour. Very clean facilities, clean bikes, and clean trailer for my 2 year old to tag along in. We hit all the major Washington DC spots: Old Postal Building, White House, National Mall, Washington Monument, a few Memorials, Lincoln Memorial, Capitol Hill within a 3 hour span. What amazed me was just the amount of history and knowledge Ben had memorized in his head. Presidents, dates, stories, about practically every single building/monument I saw. More awesome is the fact that because it was a private tour, we got to see some things not normally on the schedule, and we also had our own personal photographer. Lol Very chilly November day to have the tour, and we were greeted with hot chocolate upon arriving back at the store! The girls at the front desk and Ben were all so friendly and even provided some tips as to what restaurants were "kid friendly", neighborhoods not to stray to, museum hours, etc. I'd definitely recommend starting your DC vacation with this tour!

I would definitely recommend taking a bike tour with Capital City! Rain or shine you'll be out there, I know because about 10 minutes into our tour it started raining. You get to see all the spots while your tour guide points out cool things and provides you with tid bits of info that you can then pass on to your friends. Do you know how lobbyists got their name? I do now, thanks to our great tour guide Greg- who did an awesome job guiding us through the city despite the pouring rain. If you're not about the bikes, they've got segways!

I'm only hear for two days and I did moajority of my site seeing in 3 hours because of this tour. I Haven't been on any bike tours aside from this one But it was everything I imagined. Nice easy route. Knowledgeable tour guide, with good advice for your stay and information about the city. It's a great way to see the city. It last 3 hours hitting all the major building and memorials. The tour guide goes at a slow pace on a low incline route.

Anyone who are going to do this bike tour, I recommend you to get Jacob. He is the best tour guide also funny to be with!

Awesome way to see a great overview of the city. Friendly guides very informative. Very comfortable bikes. Had a great time getting out and about to see things.

We had a really awesome experience. Traversing DC can be a pain. It helped that we went on a federal holiday so the roads were pretty empty. Kyle the guide had really interesting facts about every stop plus more. He gave us good pointers also for food and entertainment in the city. The pace is good, even for people that are out of shape like me. The last ride from the White House back to the office is a bit steep but very doable. We would definitely do this again and recommend it to others.

We picked one of the hottest day to do the tour but our tour guide Pedro may it all worth the trip. We were on 3 hour midday tour on 100 F weather and covered most of the must see attractions. Our guide Pedro was very informative and gave us an excellent tour.

Tour guide Matt is the man!

We felt very comfortable throughout the entire experience. I highly recommend booking a guided tour instead of renting bikes on your own. In our case, my bike chain came off, and the guide immediately came back to help us. That level of support made a big difference. Another thing I really appreciated was that the guide explained the history of Washington and the meaning behind many of the landmarks we visited. It adds so much more value to the experience. Also, visiting during March and April is absolutely beautiful. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and it makes the whole tour even more special. The guide was very patient, always waited for the group, and understood that some people may not be very experienced with biking but still wanted to enjoy the tour. The only suggestion I would add is to improve accessibility for international visitors. It would be great if explanations could be offered in multiple languages, or if there were a way for each person to clearly hear the guide regardless of distance--perhaps through headphones or a mobile system. This would really enhance the experience for tourists who may not fully understand English. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I definitely recommend it!

We signed up for the electric scooter tour (mostly at my behest - because I love them so:). My girl and I were a party of two, and we joined a party of 3 (mom and two girls) for a run ride out on the town. First, we met at the bike shop, where all the scooters and accommodations had been taken care of ahead of time. The shop is conveniently located by this quiet alley, where Barry gave us an overview of the trip, discussed any special considerations, went over relevant safety stuff, and let everyone practice and get comfortable on the scooters (in the safety of that quiet alley). All with a GREAT sense of humor and a smile. It was enough to put even that nervous mother at ease with her girls. Knowing we only had less than 2 days to tour the monuments, in addition to the fact that my mother in her older age doesn't have as many steps in her as she used to - I was trying to get creative with our schedule to make the most of our time. A quick google search helped me land on this company. I always forget that the monuments in DC are quite spread out. Being on a bike is definitely your best option. I emailed the company on a Tuesday night before our trip and had a response immediately the next morning. Our guide Robert was very thorough, friendly, and flexible with our schedule. He also gave us a great suggestion to skip the Air and Space museum as part of it was under construction. He definitely knows DC quite well. He met us on the tail end of our visit at the Natural History museum and over the course of 3 hours we were able to see the Washington monument, Jefferson memorial, Mason memorial, MLK, Lincoln, Korean War, Vietnam War, and finally ended near the White House. Other than the predictable crowds at the Lincoln Memorial, we were virtually the only people at the majority of major sites on the tour. You aren't surrounded by the smog of multiple tour buses, nor hoards of other tourists. The meeting point is right in front of the Willard Hotel with the blue awnings, and just to give you a preview of the sorts of interesting details shared by the gregarious Chris, and the scholarly Reed, here you are. When Ulysses S. Grant was president, he used the Willard often for private meetings so when others clued into this behavior they would show up in the hopes of catching him for a few minutes or merely to overhear what was said. These interlopers were said to linger in the lobby awaiting his arrival, so he took to calling them, lobbyists. I love these sorts of facts! These men put their all into the tour, both literally with muscle power, as they deftly maneuver various barriers along the way, and with all their fantastic knowledge of the place. We spent almost four hours and I could easily have done an entire day with these gentlemen, as every minute was a discovery and a pleasure. Remember, this is a business, and if you enjoy the service, TIPPING, EACH OF THEM, generously, is the way to express it! There is a lot of D.C. to cover, I'll be back for another round during my next visit.
