We had a great experience with this bike tour. The guide was very punctual at the start of the route and extremely kind and attentive with everyone in the group. We felt very comfortable throughout the entire experience. I highly recommend booking a guided tour instead of renting bikes on your own. In our case, my bike chain came off, and the guide immediately came back to help us. That level of support made a big difference. Another thing I really appreciated was that the guide explained the history of Washington and the meaning behind many of the landmarks we visited. It adds so much more value to the experience. Also, visiting during March and April is absolutely beautiful. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and it makes the whole tour even more special. The guide was very patient, always waited for the group, and understood that some people may not be very experienced with biking but still wanted to enjoy the tour. The only suggestion I would add is to improve accessibility for international visitors. It would be great if explanations could be offered in multiple languages, or if there were a way for each person to clearly hear the guide regardless of distance--perhaps through headphones or a mobile system. This was worth every penny! Finding the starting location was easy and only a block from a metro stop. A staff member made sure bikes were the correct height and we were introduced to our tour guide. He was very helpful in navigating the city, making sure our group of 4 stayed together and was very knowledgeable. He was happy to let us walk around sites on our own and took pictures for us. If a memorial or location was blocked and we could see it, he adding something else in to make it worth our time and money. Unlimited Biking RUINED our first day of vacation with our grandchildren in DC. I had called ahead to make sure we could pick up our bikes a little late even though we booked a full day with them starting at 8AM. The night before, we were 2 hours out of DC. They said, "yes," but when we arrived, they gave bikes to several other groups first. After waiting a LONG time, I told them we had a tour scheduled, but they did not care if we missed it! They put at least two more groups in front of us. We did miss our tour because we were 7 minutes late, and had to reschedule our morning tour for 3:15PM. The bikes spent most of the day locked up, and we did not get to ride them to the National Mall which was my purpose in renting them. I emailed them that night to see if they would make this right, but they would NOT!. They told me I could pay to rent bikes from them again. They told me no one had said I could pick up the bikes later, but when I sent them my phone numbers, they realized they had said that to me. They confirmed that in a later email, but still did not accommodate us. So feel free to rent bikes from them if you want to be treated like dirt, called a liar, and have your vacation RUINED for about $300.00! I would give them 0 stars if I could! read more

I had to really think about this review in order to be fair. Whenever we travel to a different city with our children we try to rent bikes and see more than their little feet would allow walking. This is to point out that we regularly rent bikes in multiple locations. We don't need fancy or new bikes and are really not specific or picky. This was by far the worst service and quality we have experienced. Not one but two of our children's bike's broke while we were out and about. I think this speaks to the care and upkeep of these bikes. The safety of the bicycles and brakes are the bare minimum requirements of a bike rental company. A lot of people can end up injured or worse. When we called, it appeared that the customer service person was ready and prepped to deliver the meanest, most insensitive, idgaf response I have heard to date. We were to walk each bike back to the store since we had young children who did not have working bikes. No refunds, no assistance, no sympathy. When we asked if someone could come get them, he scoffed and said we can't help with that. When I asked if he felt that was fair, he responded by pointing out jargon from the contract. I really hope they do not stay in business but I do feel that other more conscientious companies deserve the patronage. read more

VERY UNSAFE BIKES!!! Kid's bikes broke while cycling in the streets. They will not help you. Unlimited biking absolutely ruined the last day of our trip. While in the streets both of our kid's 20" bikes broke and became unusable. The obvious dangers of this on the road along with our 7 mile walk home dragging along bikes with a 4 and 6 year old made for a pretty terrible day. I would be very suspicious of the safety of these bikes and brakes. If you rent from them don't intend on going too far because you may have to walk them back. When we called the company they were rude, callous and took no responsibility for the bike's upkeep. He said there was one person in the entire company and that (as a bike service company) they do not have a single vehicle to come get the bikes. We would have to walk the bikes back one by one. When i said the kids bikes are broken the said they would "send someone" but if it was stolen in that time we would have to pay $600 for each used, broken, raggedy kids bike. I agree with the numerous previous reviews that if you are to have to deal with the customer service here it was really awful. I have never spoken with someone so condescending, unambitious, belittling and rude as this man. Especially for providing what was inarguably a very poor service. If your product was faulty i would not think you should be so haughty and unkind. Where a business could find such a terrible person to speak to customers over the phone is impressive. He could have been tired dealing with numerous complaints or problems all day which is even more concerning for an outfit that provides one single service. Or maybe he is the owner and no one actually hired him might make more sense. But remember said owner has no car or good will. The number they give you to call if anything goes wrong is horribly managed. My bike lock wouldn't open (even though it worked multiple times previously). I called the number 5 times before someone was available to answer. I could not hear the lady at all because she wouldn't take herself off speaker. She got mad at me for not being able to hear her (I am able bodied, I couldn't imagine someone trying to contact them with a hearing impairment). She abruptly told me to send a pin of my location to the number dialed and hung up before I could ask for further assistance. THANK GOD I was within walking distance of the brick and mortar. Everyone in the building was incredibly friendly, helpful, and understanding. My only issue was with the call center, I wish they would give you a number to the actual store you rent the bike from.. I booked a night ride through TripAdvisor two days before our tour. The meeting place itself is next to a main road and easy to locate. Our guide, Wally, gave us a brief safety orientation and our group was on our way within 10 mins of the scheduled start time. If you're concerned about finding a bathroom, rest assured you stop at one 2 mins after departing. I believe we had 8-10 stops in total with enough time to explore at a few of them. Wally did a great job leading us and providing historical context about each monument/memorial. The one thing I would caution is that it did get quite dark towards the end of our tour (close to 9:30 pm) and even with the bike light some of the paths and sidewalks were tricky to navigate (and further complicated by oblivious pedestrians). Regardless, watching the sun set over the sights of the National Mall was especially memorable. My husband and I - who live in DC - were meeting our friend in Old Town so we could bike the Mt Vernon trail. I called the day before and while the Old Town location was closed for an event, I was able to easily book two bikes -- $45 each for the day which includes a helmet and bike lock. I was asked if I wanted admission to Mt Vernon and I mistakenly thought the trail was part of a National Park and hence, required $. Nope - I paid for admission for Mt Vernon (George Washington's house) which is at the end of the trail. I asked for a refund and it was a negligible amount - less than $10 - so they offered to give me a store credit or put it towards insurance. DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES! Buyer beware as they do not stand behind their promises to deliver quality, mechanically sound bikes. Additionally, they will not follow thru with refunds once disputes are filed. My group rented bikes for a charity-based ride in May. I paid for a Road bike, which was triple the price of the hybrid bike that was presented at the ride start. The delivery driver immediately texted his boss about "the mix up", and I was told it would be "made right". Because I had traveled across the US to participate, I opted to ride the only option given. Once on the route, I learned the bike brake pads were worn down to sheer nubs resulting in an unsafe, unreliable ride. None of the various rest stops on the organized ride could offer more than an "I'm sorry...these are in bad shape, but I do not have parts to fix it. Be careful". At the conclusion of the ride, I again got the assurance of the delivery driver that the company would "be in contact to make it right". Numerous emails and calls later, I have a promise of a refund, an email stating credit would be coming, and NO REFUND! When you call, it is just a call center promising to "push it to managemnet". When you email, it is again a PUSH to someone else to address. IT HAS BEEN MONTHS! NO REFUND. SKIP THIS COMPANY ENTIRELY WHEN MAKING A CHOICE. We did the Monuments tour-- SO MUCH FUN!! Lots of outside! Lots of fresh air! 3 hours of historic monuments and fascinating facts plus exercise! Had a wonderful time. Grumpy spouse-- who never likes anything we do--said he was having fun! Tim was our guide and he was so amazing! (He has a PhD in a history discipline). Such enthusiasm and knowledge!!! Knew how to interact well with everyone including the kids on the tour. Personable. Really awesome guide!!! We were able to see so many monuments up close in person and hear some amazing history lessons! No way we could have done this on foot! I took a spill, hit my face, bruised chin, scraped knee and hand, chipped 2 teeth (do not think cracked fortunately). slipped off the sidewalk onto the gravel by the mall. Fortunately not traveling at high speed. I'm clumsy and not an athlete. The athletic pants save my knee from having gravel and dirt in it! But next time would wear tighter fitting clothes-- mine got caught on the bike a few times but unstuck quickly. Maybe would have been less worried about trying to catch up had I used an E-bike. Everyone else looked really fit and everyone was on a regular bike. All of The kids on the tour crushed it. If you're like me and more of a foodie than an athlete, maybe get an e-bike!! Minus the spill it was a 10/5 stars!! fun tour--would do again and again!! This was a great family activity that grumpy spouse enjoyed plus teen kid enjoyed. In hind sight would practice biking a lot more before the tour.. Husband recommended a football helmet and mouth guard for me. . Last year we scheduled a tour and had to cancel due to medical emergency. Just bad luck. Would I have done the tour knowing I'd need dental work afterwards? Well no. But If you don't have baaaad luck, it's 10/5 fun! The good side is when bad things happen you learn what kind of a business you're working with. So Tim came running over to check on me with the spill. And last year when we had a medical emergency and could not make it, the company was a good as their word and fully refunded our money. We found out that Protests were planned the day of our tour this year so called and staff said they have a back up route in case of protests. But they kindly changed our date with no issue!!! So the people they hire are absolutely wonderful. They are fair and keep their word about refunding if you have to cancel. They will swap dates with no issue. They are kind and helpful all around. Our first time as a family to Washington DC so my husband booked us on a private 3 hour bike tour around DC. At first I was skeptical as our youngest is 9 and wasn't sure how she would be able to endure a 3 hr bike ride but Adrian, our guide, was so patient and very safety conscious, he made it so enjoyable for all of us. He even tailored it so we would be able to spend a little time at the Korean War Memorial as my late father in law served in the Korean War. We got to see many, if not all, of the main monuments/sights around DC. Our oldest's bike got a flat and Adrian quickly connected with Alex at the shop to have him meet us at our next location to exchange the bike. He gave his bike up and took the flattened bike until we met up with the new bike. What service and team work! It was a great experience seeing the sites and getting some exercise as well! Unlimited Biking shop is a bit hard to find (it's not the 701 D St location - go across the street and half a block down towards the south and you'll sort of see a door). Our guide Mary led a group of 12 bikers all around the Mall, stopping at all the important memorials and sites, giving us terrific information and background on each of them. She gave us enough time to walk around, take photos and just absorb the significance of the historical events and people that are recognized here. It didn't hurt that the weather was just glorious. When a couple people had their chain come loose, she was right there to assist and get us on our way. My husband and I asked if, when the tour was done, we could pay to use the bikes for a few more hours, and Mary took care of our request without delay. We had a great experience with Unlimited Biking! I booked this experience through Air B&B when I rented our apartment for spring break 2024. It was a three hour biking tour around the National Mall. It was a little bit of a rainy day but it held off throughout the ride but kept breezy and crisp so we didn't get wet. We were able to see Jefferson monument , Washington monument, Vietnam Memorial, WW2 Memorial, Lincoln memorial, and the Tidal Basin. It was a mixed blessing because we would have liked to see the Cherry Blossoms but they bloomed 11 days early this year; so they were mostly blown off. The Cherry Blossom Festival was still going but very few people were there. Wally was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable of Washington DC and its history. We had plenty of bathroom breaks and photo ops. We came back about 10 minutes late and it was truly worth it. We would definitely recommend Unlimited Biking. They got us in immediately when we checked in and made the process easy for us! They had many bikes available depending on height. read more

Loved the Monuments and Memorials tour! I've done bike tours in 4 cities and this one was fantastic. Matthew was the guide. At the beginning of the tour he asked the group if we would prefer to squeeze in extra stops or spend more time at the monuments on the schedule and we agreed that more stops would be great, so the Capitol was included, as well as a couple of the other museums and memorials along the way. Matthew spent just a few minutes talking at each stop, and then gave plenty of time to get off the bikes and take photos. I have been on other tours where the guide just loves to talk at each stop and I wonder if we will ever continue riding. This tour was the opposite-- the talking was kept to a minimum and we covered a lot of ground with plenty of time for photos, which is exactly how I like it. The ride was very safe, the terrain was flat, and the bike ride was easy, you definitely don't need an ebike for this route. I highly recommend this tour to anybody who has limited time in DC and wants to cover many of the hot spots. read more

My 11 year old son & I did the 2 hour bike tour with David from Wisconsin it was fantastic! My son's favorite part was going around the Washington Monument. My favorite was going down the Mall and hearing about all of the museums and their history. It was going to be a hot day but we lucked out and did the 10am ride. There was one other couple with us so it was almost like a private tour. We highly recommend! It's way better than walking the whole day and wearing yourself out. read more

Awful experience renting e-bikes. The batteries died 45 minutes into our rental experience. When we arrived back at the bike shop, exhausted and sweaty, no one was able to offer any sort of refund. We also were issued no refund when we contacted the company via email and by phone. That's just not acceptable. In addition, no one even showed us how to use the bikes, the chain on one of them kept going in and out of gear, and the seat wouldn't stay up and kept falling down. They are obviously poorly maintained bikes and the place is lacking any sort of management. Awful experience and awful customer service. read more
