Phil's a rock star right down to the Elvis porthole eyeglass frames! I haven't had so much fun getting a haircut since I moved back East from CA in '94. The entertainment value alone is worth the $10 price of the cut, and I've been a fan for 2+ years. My hair (what's left of it) is somewhat important to me, but if Phil (or one of his lovely minions) buzzed it all off, I'd still LMFAO post-cut while stumbling back out onto Mass. Ave. (in a senior moment) in search of my cah. A few weeks ago, I was phlocking to Great Woods to commune with my fellow Parrotheads, searching (to no avail) for helium to fill my radio controlled shark. This morning, I found out Phil had the gas in his shop the whole time --- to give balloons to the little kids and do Chipmunk imitations after hours!!! Who knew!?????! Phil's da bomb! Cantabridgians! I have been going to Fast Phil's for years. Sure, i first went because i didn't used to give a cr*p about my hair and thought...FAST & CHEAP is my favorite style. But now, it is the barbers' version of "dinner theater!" Very quickly the 2 regular barbers (Phil & Cindy) make the place feel like home. "You need a cold soda or today's paper?" is often the question if there is a line. I enjoy the monthly visits; however, just this morning (not needing a cut) i stopped in during my walk home just to 'steal some air conditioning' and again had a enjoyable experience. If you walk out of FP's dissatisfied, you might want to have your head checked! haha. If the Celtic's don't win the Finals, you may want to give Phil a day or two in order to simmer down. read more

Stay away from here, especially Swift Cindy, walked in with my long curly hair and needed a cut and a trim. She took me instead of Phil. She grabs the electronic razor and before i could say anything buzz cuts my entire head except the top. Sorry but last check I was not a Marine nor in the Army. I was shocked she didnt give a hoot about anything but quickly chopping my hair off as soon as possible. She sucks....walked out of there after my six minute haircut shocked and in disbelief. Only reason I didnt go balistic was there were some kids in there hanging out. A haircut is somewhat of a personal thing and she took it to the extremely wrong level. Pay no attention to Keith C's review below. He hasn't been into Fast Phil's for four years. How would he know what is said within their shop? The so-called "silly parking dispute" he mentions is the removal of 82 parking spaces on the N. Mass Ave commercial district which has devastated the small businesses. Because those were removed for bike lanes, he wrongly interprets that complaining about loss of parking means you are against bike lanes. If anyone has tried to park here recently you will know how difficult it has become for Fast Phil's customers. Their complaints are legitimate. Just had a great haircut at Fast Phil's. This was the first time that I have had my haircut at Fast Phil's. Honestly I was concerned as to how my haircut would come out as as they only charge $15 per cut. It turns out I had nothing to worry about. Cynthia asked me how I would like my haircut and checked along the way to make sure the cut was what I wanted. She did a great job cutting my hair! Our family has used Fast Phil's for 12 years. My husband and sons have gone there since we lived in Cambridge, then Somerville and now Arlington. I just brought my two year old son here for his first haircut today. It was a fantastic experience! There were plenty of toys for him to play with while he waited his turn. I have the easiest hair to cut. One length and straight. All I wanted was straight across the back. Literally a straight line. I have never had such a terrible hair cut. The sides are literally two inches shorter than the back. Horrible horrible. Will have to have it fixed. Never again! read more
