Finally I came to the famous MOAB. Lived in this area for over 40 years and never once have I stopped by. Weird! So today the kids and I plus my brother and his wife decided to take the journey to MOAB. My first impression when we walked in was blah. The decor was pieced together with odd things from a deer head to old pieces of iron tools. There menu is a basic drive in type burger menu. I saw they had fried mushrooms. Huge plus already. I ordered a burger, fries and a soda. I ordered the kids a chicken strip meal and a hotdog. The kids loved their food. I enjoyed my burger. It was a big burger but I had one complaint. For such a big burger, the patty was thin. I guess this gives me the excuse to order a double the next time. The mushrooms were the bomb.com. Overall great food! Decor needs to go though. Horrible place. Slow service and can't get a single order right. One of my sandwiches I ordered was a philly plain with cheese. When we got it we asked to just double check and they said yes it was plain. When we opened it it was covered with mayo. Foods grease too. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Didnt really care for it. I have heard good things about it, but it didnt match up to the hype, even remotely. I was in the neighborhood so I decided to stop by and try it. I was off to the side letting customers go ahead of me so I can browse the menu, as I said, never been before. One of the guys asked me twice in the span of 2 minutes if Im ready. I dont like being rushed and I definitely wasnt in the way. I was letting others ahead of me. I finally settled on a cheesesteak. Took it home. Looks good, smells good. I am impressed with how soft the bread is. I take a bite and want to gag. Theres bbq sauce! Nowhere in the description is bbq sauce! This is not how a cheesesteak should be together. If I ate there I would have brought it up to them. But I took this to go, over 20 minute drive. So yeah, not going back. read more

5 stars for the excellent customer service! We showed up right before closing completely on accident because it was our first time trying this place. The cashier didnt even turn us away or hesitate to take our order. She politely recommended her favorite menu options since we didnt know where to start. They happily waited on us and took our orders. I got a philly cheesesteak and some french fries. The food was really, really good. We sat outside instead of in the actual restaurant because we had felt so bad about showing up right before closing, but that didnt stop the staff from being attentive and on top of their service. They delivered the food to our table, checked in on us, made sure everything tasted okay, brought us anything we needed. I've drove by this place countless time and have never payed too much attention to it. One day while yelping the boyfriend and I came across this place and decided to try something new. Not only were we surprised on how laid back the place was, but the selection they had. We both tried different Sandwich's and were impressed! A little greasy but it's worth trying out! Found salt shakers n ketchup bottles greasy. Hubby's burger with mushrooms n grilled onions was good n juicy. Had a good laugh at my chicken wings thou. Not sure they were chicken more like pigeon or possibly bluejay. Maybe an inch in size and the pieces that weren't over cooked still had feathers on them! I moved to Modesto at the beginning of the summer, and, as silly as this may sound, I typically look for small, locally owned places. They are usually the best, and usually have great food and service. WELLLLLL.... I went to MOAB about 3 months ago for the first time, and i LOVED IT! My gentleman friend (from Berkeley) was with me, and he adored it as well. Every time he comes to visit, we go. (Just a few blocks from the house). Atmosphere is fine, never a major concern for me, i don't go to a restaurant to look at the walls. The food is quite good, and the service has always been very friendly and fast. I went to MOAB just last week (sadly alone), and chatted up a gentleman working on the fish tank, the lovely girl behind the counter, and finally Eddie himself. The were all so friendly, and made me feel very at home. Eddie was especially nice, and FUNNY. I actually plan on stopping by tomorrow for a milk shake. My favorite place to go in Modesto. read more

The burgers here are awesome! Another awesome thing about this place are the milkshakes! The fries are nice and chunky. For the price, you are served generous portions! The ambiance is a bit strange. It's comfortable but it has a lot of different things hanging off the wall. There is also a big aquarium in the middle of the restaurant. The staff usually consists of young, high school kids. Expect Ok service but the food is definitely worth the trip to this place. Summary: Environment - Clean and a little strange. Unfortunately I live a block away from this place which is bad because I have about as much self-control as Charlie Sheen with an 8-ball and a stripper in front of him. What to say about Fast Eddies? Well, the place is awesome, it's got great history, decor you can pore over for hours and a great vibe. It definitely feels original and that you are in a local private business. The burgers are great, most everything else is fried but done right if not a tiny bit greasy. But hey, if you are eating fried food we are well past the greasy stage. For fast-food burgers, they are first rate. I only wish there was a "deluxe" version that was a hand-rolled beef patty, but I understand why that's almost impossible. First off, the Philly cost almost $10 and there was barely any meat in it and on top of that the girl decided to put bbq sauce which was not on the menu and anyone who knows what a Philly sandwich is knows it doesn't come with bbq sauce. Modesto owned/operated by same family since the 50s. Interior is like a treasure chest for Antique-fans. Service was nice/friendly. There is a TV and fish-tank. Parking is ample. Price may be a little high but overall VERY worth it. Would be a great idea to bring kids here or a hometown DateNight. Food was delicious and made fresh.
