Update to original review posted on April 10, 2025 re: complimentary consultation…read more Previously, a review was left expressing concerns about a consultation fee. The office, particularly Dr. Tyska addressed the situation. Consultations are complimentary, and the fee was promptly refunded. Dr. Tyska and his assistant Kristen showed genuine concern and listened to feedback, demonstrating a commitment to patient care. The professionalism and dedication to resolving the issue were impressive. My daughter will soon be getting here braces with Dr. Tyska. This recent experience shows me that patient satisfaction is prioritized and that the office is committed to resolving issues.

So disappointed with this business. Buyer beware when it comes to "complimentary" consultation for…read moreorthodontics. The 2 stars is because we once had a great experience 5 years ago. But recently, I had such an unfortunate interchange with their office manager and staff. I called to book an appointment for my daughter to get a quote on another round of braces (she never wore her retainers and teeth shifted back). The front desk told me there would be a fee for return clients but not for new clients. That didn't make sense to me so I said no thank you. I already received a complimentary consultation elsewhere with a quote. And they did NOT charge me. The front desk told me she would have someone call me back. Sure. I got a call back and told the same thing. Ok. Then I proceeded to cancel my appointment. The office (wish I remembered her name), said she would ask the doctors and call me back (again). Days later I received a call and told there would be no fee. Great. My husband brought my daughter yesterday and sure enough, I am charged $85.00. Called and spoke to the office manager. She handled it very poorly, and kept explaining that they did a lot of "extra's" and that the $85 was actually a great deal. The thing is, I didn't ask for any extra's. I just wanted to know if I would be paying the same price for another round of braces and to see if I could get some kind of discount as a returning patient. This manager made a point to say that there was no record of my previous conservations and therefore, she would not do anything. I have worked for years in private practice - Manhattan - selling elective medical cosmetic procedures. I understand how this works. It is not about the money but about the practice keeping their word and honoring their commitment to the patient. I spoke to them 3x before our actual appointment and they still charged me. I am so disappointed with how they now run their business. Very sad indeed.

Will be calling in the am. A male doctor named "doctor lee" was the absolute most rude doctor I've…read moreever come across in my 44 years. I hope no one has to ever deal with him. He should not be working with the public. His interaction alone with me makes me want to leave this group I've been at for years because of how awful he made me feel. After scanning reviews I see there are several complaints about him. I will definitely be mentioning this when I call in the morning. I will also be looking for a new practice since they seem to think it's ok for doctors to behave so disgustingly to their patients.

Rarely have to wait more than 5-10minutes. - Exam rooms and equipment appear modern and clean. - Kind/friendly hygienists - One of very few dentist offices in the Northtowns that have both adult and pediatrict dentistry in the same office. Very convenient. Cons: - Hard to find a near-term appointment if you need to reschedule. Yes you can be put on a text wait list, but otherwise, if you have to reschedule due to a conflict, plan for the rescheduled appointment to be 5-6 months away. - They stopped accepting a very popular (and affordable) dental insurance plan. For this reason alone we have started looking for alternative dentists to go to.

Deeply Disappointing Experience:…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but parents deserve to know what they may be walking into. Our experience at University Pediatric Dentistry has been nothing short of condescending, dismissive, and frankly, deplorable in terms of quality of care. We originally brought my daughter here for routine cleanings. At a previous visit, we were told she needed all of her baby teeth capped because "she didn't have adult teeth underneath," along with multiple extractions. That alone raised red flags, so we went straight to the top prosthodontist at Oishei Children's Hospital for a second opinion. After new X-rays and a thorough exam, the specialist told us her oral hygiene was excellent, the teeth did not need to be capped, and with future orthodontic work we could make a clear plan for prosthetics down the road. She even sent a letter of her findings. We then took that letter to one of the top-rated orthodontists in the area, who fully agreed. Fast forward to our most recent cleaning at University Pediatric Dentistry. The moment we shared the medical findings from Oishei, the hygienist became cold and condescending. Her tone and comments were so inappropriate that my daughter -- who walked in feeling confident and proud of her progress -- ended up in tears. That alone is inexcusable. The dentist then told me he did not agree with either of the other two highly regarded specialists and insisted one tooth "really needed to come out." Fine -- if it needs to be pulled, let's pull it. But he refused to do it in the office. He told me she must go downtown to be fully sedated. I explained I have called that office twice and was told we would need to pay $250 upfront and that it cannot be billed or broken into installments. As a parent living paycheck to paycheck, that is simply not feasible. I asked if we could do it across multiple office visits or discuss alternatives, and he refused. His exact position was that full sedation was "in her best interest," yet he would not treat the child under his care unless it was paid in full, upfront. I keep asking myself: What kind of pediatric dentist claims to be acting in a child's best interest, then refuses to treat her unless the payment structure fits their rules? I was not refusing to pay -- I was asking for a reasonable, humane option. My daughter left this office crying, anxious, and biting her nails after previously feeling relieved and empowered by the doctors at Children's Hospital. No parent should have to watch that. Do not go here. There are far better, more compassionate providers in Buffalo. Your child deserves to feel safe, respected, and cared for -- not dismissed, or shamed. And parents shouldn't leave feeling intimidated.

I explained to them that ive never had this problem in Niagara Falls and my special needs daughter should be referred to Children's where she gets any work done because she has to be sedated and that them not accepting insurance is a very big inconvenience for parents. The supervisor told me they will not do that because they already put the work order in for her there. they were very rude to me over the phone and even hung up on me. They sent me a letter stating that my children will no longer be able to be serviced at their office. Horrible and stressful experience. I wouldnt recommend anyone take their children there. They are very rude and the anesthesiologist doesn't even accept insurance.
