Staff is lazy. Tables are past dirty, owner does not care! Surprised my ex plays here. But I guess he can down grade!

I do many reviews and I must tell you the honest truth; my first visit was awful, and I refused to write the review until I visited again. This is a HUGE establishment; and the first time I was here there was a Christmas party or something going on so service was slow, and food was cold. The second time it was a slower night and the staff was super helpful and accommodating. We met Sean, and had some commonalities to share, and what a personality, they have working in their gastropub. He introduced us to his wife, and many of the staff members as if we were family. Our food was hot, delicious, and the home made chips were great! Prices were a little high; but you have to expect that nowadays everywhere. Not only did we enjoy our experience, but Sean suggested other places for me and my son to try out since we are new to the area. If you are into shooting pool, then obviously Fargo Billiards is a go-to. They have tons of tables in the building. If you've never been there, you will be surprised when you walk in the door and see all the tables, the seating and how nice of a facility this is. And that doesn't even include the top notch outdoor area for sand volleyball and bocce. If you're not a billiards person, like I'm not, do not let that deter you from frequentling this place. They have a restaurant area, which I've yet to sit in, and in addition to the seating around the pool tables, they have an elevated bar area with plenty of seats. Also, for special events, they have separate rooms with pool tables, couches and cocktail tables. I am always please by the beer selection and they have an extensive menu. You can find all that info on their website. Hitting their happy hour is a bonus when you can take part in the half-priced appetizers. I frequent this place about once a month (not my choice--it's a "group thing"). I order simple drinks --usually a liquor + a mixer, and my food choice is always very basic (no changes). In 20+ visits they have managed to screw something up EVERY TIME. I order a tall and receive a short, I order a liquor + sour and get a liquor + coke, I order a burger with fries and end up with a burger and chips. Several times I've been charged for someone else's food and/or drinks. Tonight I was one of the very first people in my group to order my food... and never got it. The server was well aware--asked me 3 different times over 2 hours. When I was ready to leave I took my receipt to the bar--of course I'd paid when I ordered!--and asked for the food to be taken off my tab; I was told the "kitchen is working on it right now". Fine (sigh)--give it to me to go (I would eat it tomorrow). After waiting another 15 minutes (the place was not busy) and being assured by the server it "should be coming out any minute", I gave up and left. No refund and no food. We ordered delivery salad and pizza on our stop in town and were extremely disappointed. The pizza was so thin there was a hole you could see the cardboard box through in the center and the salad order was wrong. Wouldn't order from this establishment again. read more

Stopped here to play some games with some friends. There's was 8 of us total. We arrived and learned a company reserved 3/4 of the entire place. We wanted to play darts and there was two machines left. We took the machines and waited for a waitress. It took almost 45 mins for the waitress to come to our table. It was terrible. We decided to go to the bar and just order on our own. When the waitress did come over she was kinda upset we went to the bar. She asked if we wanted anything and we ordered nachos and two other apps along with 2 pitchers of beer. We waited for about 30 minutes and went to the bar and just got the pitchers we ordered. The food came out about an hour later. We stayed here about three hours and the services was worst I've ever experienced. The venue is amazing but the servers complained that there wasn't enough of them, none of the really knew where they should be and the managers were non existent. We really thought this would be a fun experience in the winter drag and ended up catching a Uber downtown. read more

Hot damn! This place is huge! It's a billairds hall, diner, coffee shop and bar all in one stop! I'm kinda liking this mashup. Played pool on Sunday night as our last HooRah before leaving Fargo ::tear:: and it was pretty fun and laid back. For Sunday there were about 2 dozen people but since this place is gigantic, it didnt feel cramped in the least. Our waitress was cute and chatted with us but damn, it was slow tryna get an order in! After 30 mins I asked for a menu and we ordered house soup (which um, there was a sign in the front that said soup o the day was beer cheese and we were uber pumped to try this strange midwest delicacy but nooooooo.. they didnt have it that night. mmkkayy).. and some chili and tried the wallaye fish bites. Food came out fairly fast and it was all mucho tasty. Cheap pool, down to earth vibe and good eats, makes for a chill billards hall. read more

I can't even describe how angry I am. A group of us went for a good friends going away get together. It took over 2 hrs for one of our friends to get his tiny piece of chicken, which the waitress said she was going to comp for the long wait, but it never was comped. Then one of our friends paid for the pool tables in cash cause the waitress never returned with his card when he ordered food, but the manager claims that he never paid... so he had to pay TWICE. That was also the same situation with our food. We all had paid for our meals at the end of the night and the transactions came out, but the manager again claims we didn't pay at all so we had to pay AGAIN! This place is fucking ridiculous, the manager, the waitress who tried to walk out with 3 of our debit cards, all con artists. Never coming here again. Update: The waitresses name is Essie. I mean, I don't know. This is such a neat place and I really wanted to give it five stars. My boyfriend and I come here every time we are in town, as he grew up playing pool and darts at this establishment so it's very nostalgic to him. One night we had a brand new server, which is totally understandable and we were very kind despite the fact that we had no ranch, which we ordered all of our food to go, and each ordered two meals because we were going to hunker down in our hotel room the rest of our trip as we had a Jacuzzi suite, we also didn't get silverware somehow. I ordered the crown peach with ice tea, which I had already drank two of, and somehow that third round I ended up with I believe a Coca-Cola with peach crown. I haven't had that much sugar in a single beverage in years! It was pretty brutal but service was so spotty I figured it would be best to just drink it. It was interesting because I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with grilled chicken and it honestly, I had half grilled chicken and a half breaded fried chicken. I mean it was super tasty, don't get me wrong, but maybe they ran out of grilled chicken? The next visit we had a double date with friends. We were assigned a pool table that had a loaded table that looked like it had four people who had multiple beverages each and full meals and had left all of the dishes and glassware and half eaten food on the table when I left. The table had yet to be cleaned. Thanks, I don't think it was clean the entire time we were there. So we were assigned the pool table right beside that particular table. We wanted to switch, and they assigned us get another table next to a high top that had glasses in it which had been drank out of, abandoned, but not cleared. Third time was a charm, because we just took whatever pool table we felt like taking at that particular moment, and set up shop right there. The guys played pool while us girls chatted. Maybe it was karma or retaliation for not playing at our assigned table but it was very apparent the others were not ready as the tables next to them were dirty. It was at least 15 minutes before we decided just to go to the bar ourselves and get drinks. I had ordered a corona light with lime and then were told that there's no fruit, but I kind of didn't want to drink the beer without the lime and I mentioned that to the bartender, but he just stared blankly at me so I ordered another beverage as well, and purchased the beer, which ultimately I did end up drinking later on due to the poor service. I get it that the Fruit is due to the Covid and I very much appreciate the attention to this concern from the business. But as a previous Bartender, I would've either offered it on the house or taken the beer back and served it to one of my regulars on the house and not charged me, because we had never touched it, it was on the tray the server had prepared for us to carry our own drinks out with, because there was no wait staff helping us. Keep in mind, there were waitstaff milling around, but for some reason they did not come over to us. After we got our drinks we went to continue playing pool and chitchatting. Our waitress came over and gave us menus and asked if we needed some time and I said yes about 10 or 15 minutes. 10 or 15 minutes later she did come and ask if we were ready, and we apologized very nicely and said no we were just catching up as it had been awhile since we'd all seen each other, how about another 10 minutes. I swear it had to be at least another half hour later that she came by, and we ordered. Everyone's food looked good. I should've stuck with previous orders such as a chef salad I had before, and the spinach artichoke dip. All of those were amazing. I ordered nachos and I don't know if they were just a grease ball! Huge portions, but very limited toppings for so many chips. There was barely any queso on the nachos and they were just so so greasy. I ate a few of them but honestly I was pretty miserable the rest of the evening. Others at the table helped me eat a little bit of them. We had to go up and get our drinks all night, and maybe that's normal, but only once did the waitress bring us our drinks. Putting two and two Together as I write this, the waitress did mention that they were out of chicken. We are totally coming back again, but I don't know that we will plan to eat another meal there. Maybe it's standard practice to have to go to the bar to get your drinks, and maybe we had just been spoiled by super stellar wait staff before, but it would be good to know what the expectation is so that we can make sure to rate the business appropriately. Terrible service, Damn near had to make our own drinks. Sat for over 1 hour with no one stopping to ask if we needed anything. Ordered pizza by going up to the bar. Complaining for our pizza order 3 times...finally someone went and got it, was sitting under the heat lamps for a good 10 minutes Poor service, would not return. The two times I visited Fargo Billiards, it was relatively quiet - and yet, the service was slow and inattentive. The servers seemed to be more interested in chatting with the cooks than paying attention to the ONE table in the restaurant section. The Reuben wasn't bad, though it definitely could have used more sauerkraut and 1,000 Island. The fries, however... Oddly, half of the fries were cooked throughout - and the other half were still half raw. The ones that were cooked throughout were quite tasty, as house-made fries should be. The half raw ones, though... Those were a bit disappointing. The second time, I wanted to get some information and ended up standing at the front counter for five minutes before someone walked up - only to be pretty well ignored. Don't let the one star fool you. If I could give the Gastropub no stars I would. The food is horribly mediocre. If I wanted to eat food purchased from the frozen food section of the local grocery store, then well... I'd go to the frozen food section and buy it myself. Ordered the meatball sandwich with chips and it was a lukewarm travesty. Pretty sure they just popped open a jar of generic pasta sauce and drizzled it over frozen pre-cooked meatballs. a group of us came in having not been here before. The service at the desk was very poor in explaining the procedures they have for payments and such. They are very disorganized and this caused a large argument started by the cashier/clerk who showed extremely poor costumer service. the waiters were all kind and friendly but the front desk needs serious work. taking peoples ids and credit cards and holding them is a poor way of doing business. They keep your cards in exposed bins in the open and when they can't find your card it's your fault. Considering it was a slow night I can only imagine what it's like when it's busy. Held an event here last Saturday for my Meetup group. Had a great server (Taylor) who was constantly in-and-out of the room making sure that myself and my 20ish guests were taken care of. It was very much appreciated. I made sure to get pool balls for the two tables in the room and both were occupied for the time we had the room. Great place to take a group of people! I mean, like a BIG BIG BIG group of people. I've been here a few times, the first was for a work holiday party a year ago and they easily can accommodate and cater a large group of 100+ people. Tonight I was there for the Yelp Welcome Wagon event and with the group coming and going at various there was never a hiccup of service. The taco salad is hearty and delicious. There's a decent tap list. The space huge. And when I mean huge - rows and rows, and aisles and aisles of vignettes with bar and lounge seating along huge designated areas of billiards. The main bar caters to a large room where most of the guests can grab a drink from the full circle bar. The service was just like Fargo - nice, polite, and welcoming. But what really struck me was the different drinks and cocktails offered at the bar that seemed super sophisticated for an over-sized bar with pool, but hey - I'll take it and will certainly return next time I'm in Fargo! read more

Billards? Absolutely. Gastropub? Not exactly. More of a gastrodud. I tried the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers and the sweet strawberry bacon burger. The poppers were not very good. Way too much batter--more batter than filling. A much lighter batter and breading would make these so much better. The sweet strawberry bacon burger sounds exciting. I imagined a burst of salty sweet goodness with my first bite. The combination is creative and could work, but the burger and bun failed. The uniform thickness of the burger tasted exactly as we suspected, i.e. a frozen patty. The bun was very dry. The bacon was under cooked and lacked flavor. I was expecting fresh strawberries and was disappointed to see it topped with strawberry glaze with a couple chunks of strawberries. The cheddar cheese on this burger is a complete miss. They should try either goat cheese or a gorgonzola with a fresh hand packed patty, fresh strawberries, crispier bacon and a good bun. Service was fine, but it took a long time to get the attention of the waitress to pay. Beer selection is decent. We also watched another tables order sit under the warming lights for upwards of 10 minutes before it was served. With so many better places to eat in Fargo/Moorhead I will not return to this place. read more

I went here for the first time last night. I was very pleased with the food. The service was good, but I wouldn't call it friendly. I went with two friends. One ordered the jambalaya, the other ordered the walleye and I ordered a chili burger (don't judge, it was a craving). We also split a single Bavarian pretzel as an appetizer. The place was quiet and clean. The bar was pretty full, so we sat in the dining area by the front door. Service was prompt - our drinks were always full. One of my friends ordered a hard apple cider. It sounded good, so I ordered one later. The waitress looked at me like I was an idiot. I shrugged and told her it sounded good. In the most sarcastic voice she could muster she told me "It tastes like apple juice." No shit. I never would have known that my hard APPLE cider would taste like apple juice. Thank you for the education! Anyway, the food was great. The Bavarian pretzel was awesome, but next time I will get my own and keep it from my friends. Yes. It was that good. The jambalaya was pretty bland, and, while the menu says there is chicken and endouille sausage in it, we never did find any sausage. But, it was still tasty. My chili burger was great. The burger had a good beefy flavor and the chili was good. The onion rings were excellent. Not being one for fish, I didn't try the walleye. It looked good. For fish. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere! On Saturday night, our group of 8 came in for a birthday party. Our friend paid for the 2 tables we played on and the manager told us everything was paid, we just needed to cover our food and drinks. It took about 20 minutes to get a server to get our drink orders. Through the course of the night we had various servers and they only came around every 30 minutes or so. We ordered food and the nachos came out with no meat. Then they brought us the correct order but it was cold. We ordered food on top of this for dinner. My husbands pizza was cold and when he told the server it was cold and didn't taste good, she said "I'm sorry" and walked away. After this we went to get our tabs at the bar because the servers told us they couldn't bring us our tab. At this point only 4 people had open tabs. Wee explained to the bartender MULTIPLE times who was on what tab and he didn't get it right after 3 attempts. We also were charged for 6 games/hours/people (however it was calculated) of pool. We talked to the same manager who said it was paid and now he was saying only 4 people paid for pool. Well the numbers don't add up because we had 8 people and if 4 paid why were we charged for 6? That's not to mention that our one friend paid for all 8 of us! What a mess. After my husband getting upset over this the manager would not take the time off our tabs, but paid us cash back. Not even enough cash back, but that is whatever. I am almost certain that isn't legal? I then got my tab for two malibu cokes and a soda and it was $18... That is almost $8 a drink!!! Almost immediately upon leaving my husband had an upset stomach. When we got home he started vomiting. Love this place for its outdoor patio in the Summer time! You can come here during the week and watch the Volleyball Tournaments play, drink and eat on their boardwalk-like patio and play bags in the grass with your friends. The ambiance is great! Only reason it looses it's stars is for the food which is essentially just a little bit worse than typical pub food. I ordered the nachos and they came out crisp burnt to the point where the cheese (the barely-there cheese might I add) was burnt to a crisp. While this places looks like a warehouse from the outside, it looks nothing of the sort on the inside. It cater to both those of age and the underage. There is also a bar that you can drink at. They is quite a variety of beers and some really good food. They also run a volley ball league in the summer. read more

Beautiful place on the inside- no complaints there, but if you open at 10:00 am, then make sure your doors are actually open. Also when customers call at 10:05 asking to be let in, it's not a good idea to have it go straight to voicemail. Promised my son we would play a couple of games of pool but didn't have a lot of time. Came back a half hour later and had to wait 5 minutes to have an employee set me up for pool. If I didn't have my son with, I would have simply left. On the plus side though the tables are nice and it does have a good atmosphere. read more

Service was good in bar area...when we moved to the Bullard area it took forever to get a server to come around and then had to wait a minimum of 25-30 minutes for a drink. Then we ordered appetizers we didn't get the full order we were suppose to get. And the server implied a full order and if a full order is 4 jalapeño poppers (that's horrible) and when receiving them they were charred and basically inedible. Returned them and had to pay full price never going there again. And not recommended this place to anyone. read more

The service here is horrible we were here on a Sunday afternoon with a party of 8 people. We had to go up to the bar to ask for a server to come take drink orders then again when we were ready to order food. The server came down to us less than enthused took our order. After the food came nobody came to check on how it was or if we needed more drinks. Had to go to the server station and get our own to go boxes. Just returned from running in the Gastropub's 5K. The race is run PERFECTLY--one of the best in town. Here is what is good: course is certified, directions while running are clear, mile markers are easily visible, excellent volunteers on the course to help, GREAT food (for free!) afterwards, with a very nice blues band providing entertainment. These guys know how to run a race AND the beer selection is terrific! read more

My husband went into the Gastropub today for a few beers and ordered the "thick cut prime rib sandwich," for $13.00, to go. When he got home and took a bite, he almost threw up. He asked me to take a bite and when it was an inch from my mouth I said, "Ew! NO! It's bad!" The meat tasted like it had been left over from two weeks ago. We been there for the last time. Tonight we showed up and after being ignored for 5 minutes, finally had some get us a table. When we asked to put a pizza order in right away we were told that food would take at least an hour and a half. It's not like the place was packed. There were maybe five other small tables. We got up and left and no one seemed to care. The previous time wasn't much better. Service was slow and really it seemed as though we were an inconvenience. Their big advertised appetizer special that they "make in house" they were out of. There was only one other table in the restaurant and it was 6pm. Really?????? Our food took over an hour to get to the table and was cold when it did arrive. No one returned to check and see how we were doing. We had to chase the server down to get our tab. The food was mediocre at best. We'd love to support local businesses, but they need to at least make an effort and meet us half way. Adios Gastropub. read more

This place is seriously deceiving from the outside. The inside is spacious, clean, and just stunning. If I could give that 5 stars I would. The reason I'm giving one star is because of the service. I have NEVER had worse service. EVER. I could get better service at a Burger King. The first time I went in, the pool was great, but I was SERIOUSLY unimpressed with the service. The staff was unenthusiastic and unfriendly. 0 personality whatsoever. I decided to return a second time to give them another chance. Working in the service industry myself (restaurant) I know that there are off nights.. It happens. Whatever. But no, when I returned it was MUCH worse. Two friends and I sat at the rail for about 5 minutes before a waitress showed up and asked for drink orders. No hello, no smile. It honestly felt very hostile. I've never felt so unwelcome. She then proceeded to take another 5-10 minutes to pour a beer and 2 vodka sours (which were terrible). The entire staff then proceeded to ignore us the rest of our stay. They obviously thought it was more important to use their paid working hours to stand around chatting with each other instead of actually doing their jobs. After I finished my beer, my glass was collected and I was never asked if I'd like a second. The only interaction we had with the staff was when someone walked up to us, and told us we had 5 minutes to down our drinks. After our 5 minutes were apparently up, they came around and took two nearly 1/2 full drinks away without hardly saying a word. I hate to say it, but I probably won't be going back. Even though the pool is great and I loved the building's atmosphere, the staff was so awful that I simply refuse to put up with them again. I can play pool other places. I was generally impressed with how large the inside of this gastropub was upon entering. The outside does not do it justice as it looks like a warehouse. There are many pool tables and a tree strung with tiny white lights. Nice leather chairs to relax in a group. I liked the selection of drinks, average prices. The wait staff was again average, not terribly friendly. We still enjoyed the spinach dip which was slightly spicy and drinks amongst friends read more
