Horrible experience here. The wax was set at unbearably hot and when i let her know, she did nothing...no change in setting and didn't even blow on the wax first to help cool it down. I was left with a burn mark that still hasn't gone away...what a nightmare! Had i known what the level of service of this place i would've paid the extra money to go to a nicer spot. Trust me - this is such a great place to go! The woman was so sweet from the beginning. She has a very private room that's comfy and has a TV to watch while you're being waxed. Also, she play soothing music so it's very nice. She was just so genuinely kind. She gave me a hug and had me sign up to receive a moon cake from her. This place is so cute I love it also, fastest wax EVER. I highly recommend her, she did a great job and she even went in with tweezers and a maginifier to help get the little hairs she might've misses. LORD, what have I just gotten myself through? I think I just survived a fkn brutal slaying of my pubic hairs. I just finished my appt no less than 3 minutes ago and I am still in shock. SCREW YELP REVIEWS ALREADY. I have been bamboozled countless amount of times. 'Lan is so great' 'Lan ONLY uses HARD wax' 'you'll get a moonpie' 'Lan this' 'Lan that' I'm so traumatized, these bogus reviews got me and my vag messed up. Here are the FACTS: -she used hard wax on the sides (WHICH ARE THE LEAST PAINFUL AREAS for most) -she used SOFT WAX with strips even on the most SENSITIVE areas -she went over the SAME waxed areas MULTIPLE times with soft wax *for those that aren't educated or familiar with waxing or aesthetics...NO.1 RULE: NEVER, EVER go over the same waxed area more than ONCE with soft wax. The skin is already in a weak state and it will LIFT on the 2nd,3rd,4th pull. HARD WAX is okay. SOFT wax- NEVAAAAR!!* -not once did she touch the area she pulled to make the experience less painful. (Touches are ALWAYS nice esp for first timers or those who haven't gotten one in a while because it helps it to not hurt as much after the pull) n' BISH- I WAS IN PAIN. I normally don't cry out in pain- but GUH! I was softly screaming. -she covered EVERYWHERE with a mix of both waxes instead of working in small sections -she didn't pre-cleanse or wipe before starting (I always shower before any appt that involves my vag just for courtesy) but STILL. That don't mean everyone else does and thats fkn disgusting that she didn't even precleanse me, she just jumped straight into it -her wooden sticks and appliances weren't in sanitary casings or covered. They're all out in her studio collecting dust. ( I say this because I can't imagine her to be busy. Her studio was vacant and empty looking. Only her wax room turned into half a storage room seemed full. Also, it looks like they use to offer hair/nail services before but def. not any time recently) -tweezers and scissors were placed right back into the same circular holder after she used them. WITHOUT SANITIZING or DISINFECTING IT! -she got Kleenex stuck on top of my wax that's on TOP of my vag. MULTIPLE TIMES -she NEVER once pulled my skin TAUT when applying AND when pulling. FUHHHH!!! Did your vag just shiver and throb with pain after you read the last part? GOD there's so much more but I can't even right now. I should've gotten TF outta there the minute she finished my traumatic Brazilian, but nope. I was there to get my lip waxed too so I stayed. I put my pants back on and flipped my body the opposite way like she told me to, with my brand new teal shirt wet with sweat from the beating of my precious, fragile vagina. Dumb dumb DUMB decision that has me parked at Leonard's Malasada, writing this review with a throbbing vag and wax IN MY NOSE, all over my LIPS, various parts of my body including my legs. Every time I part my lips, it sticks to one another because instead of just putting wax on my upper like a properly taught waxer should, she applied it haphazardly, slapping it and sliding it over my whole lip and up my nose. N' yes. She pulled the shit outta my lip too. SISTA MARY- she went HAM on my vag, I was naive to think she'd have a little mercy on my lips. Also, my nose would get pulled too and THAT hurt. She tried getting a tissue wrapped around her finger to remove the wax from inside my nose. (Tnx for the effort Lan) - My nose would like y'all to know that it feels violated. - In the end, I lived to tell what happened and warn everyone else. -I AM A SURVIVOR- (Sorry I couldn't save the girl that was after my appt. she was sittin in the waiting area looking innocent, i wanted SO BADLY to mouth the words 'RUUUUUUN!! YOURE GONNA DIEEEE!!!' But I couldn't because there were mirrors EVERYWHERE) Look, I'm sure there will be some ppl that read my review and think 'well why didn't you speak up and say anything?' Naw, I ain't trying to be mean or rude. Lan is actually really nice, she is- but that doesn't mean she waxes properly with the right protocol and proper education. Honestly, I should've known when I didn't see her license anywhere in visible sight. But that didn't stop me from thanking her, paying for the service, and giving her a 20% tip. Fantasic? I think not. I got a brazilian at Fantastic Waxing last week Thursday and while the lady removed every single hair from my lady parts, she committed the cardinal sin of waxing--double dipping applicators. There was a painted sign on the wall by my head advertising $16 brow waxes and I couldn't stop thinking that the poor individual to get a brow wax would basically be getting my bum applied to his/her face. I should have said something when I noticed but to be honest, I'm not the most assertive person when I'm lying on a table sans bottom. Other details that made the experience less than fantastic... no parking. I asked about parking when I called for the appointment and the owner told me to park at Safeway. I guess you could also try for street parking on Charles or Kaimuki. Also, the waxing "room" is just a curtained off area. I kept worrying that someone else would walk into the salon the entire time. And if you are uncomfortable with someone touching really private areas, don't come here. Most waxers I've been to have you move your own parts (for lack of a better word) out of the way. This lady will touch you all over like she's trying to give you a happy ending. Even weirder was how she patted it when she was done and proclaimed it "beautiful." On the plus side, five days later, no ingrowns and she is ridiculously cheap. $45 for a brazillian? Crazy. read more

Lan at Fantastic Wax on Kapahulu (just five minutes away) is amazing!!! Brazilian is $40. She adds tax so it's like $41 something. I gave her $50. I was frantically calling waxing places all around town to see who could take me on a Tuesday before Thanksgiving. All of this was so when I went to Eden in Love's Black Friday sale, I could try on clothes in their communal dressing room without any hesitation. Anyhoo a guy with a thick accent just answered "Hello" when I called. After I asked if this was Fantastic Waxing and asked to be scheduled for a Brazilian waxing the next day, he told me, "You come 7-o'clock. Come 7. Ok?" (This was at 5:30 pm.) Okaayyyy. I kept wondering if I was going to show up and get waxed by a rough-sounding Asian guy! Luckily when I got there this older Vietnamese lady showed up. By the crocheted hat on her bald head, tattooed eyebrows and long white Chinese-style dress, I imagined her to be an Asian psychic. Very calm and warm personality. And yes, this is just a small room with the waxing bed and a TV. She closed the curtains that looked out to the rest of the space. She did a wax with strips. Compared to other places that use strips, this was not as painful. (I'm used to hard waxes.) She even did my backside. The only strange part was when she did the middle area. Most places have you put your legs in a triangle shape. She had me lift my legs up. Hey, whatever works I guess. After she was finished plucking the small strays, she cleaned me with baby oil and sprayed something cool. This was a nice touch, compared to places that will hand you baby wipes or a dry washcloth. Cost was $40, which was reasonable. Not sure if I'd come back due to the strange dude answering the phone and the lack of parking, which is too bad because I liked the lady. read more

I've been waxing my lady parts for over 15 years, by myself, or finding a service depending on how I feel, and this is the BEST wax I've had in my life! Lan waxed me (after a few months of growth ) in exactly 12 minutes. Front, back, side to side! She uses hard wax, so no strips, and she pays attention to details. She also doesn't mess around with smoothing the wax on in those stupid teeny tiny wax lines-one smooth pull per area. The cooling gel she applies is amazing! She knows what she's doing. I thought this place was great! I found it by driving home from work one day. I gave her a call and she saw me right away, which won't happen with a lot of salons. She did double dip, but I'm going to hope that it's fresh wax with each client? It was the fastest, least painful wax I've ever had and on top of that was at a great price. Regarding the previous review, I've never been to a salon where I helped at all - I think it's completely normal that she has to do that. I mean it is a wax, she has to touch you! And the room wasn't bad - it had a door and glass, but the walls didn't go all the way to the ceiling so it was more open but completely closed off. She did a fantastic job on my eyebrows. I hadn't been in to get them done in months and they truly needed some work. She was very sweet and told me she wanted to make them smaller. I told her she could do whatever she wanted. After all she's the expert! I walked out with perfectly shaped eyebrows. Very sweet lady doing the Brazilian. She is the reason I would come back monthly if I lived here. Just so sweet. This is a no frills kind of place. One bed, bare minimum. Definitely coming back for the price and efficient service! She is very friendly and plays music kinda loud (oldies music), I'm assuming to calm the client down. During the wax she plays a personal DVD of hers that also helps switch the attention from the pain. She is very quick and uses both hard and soft wax for the Brazilian, and tweezers for the little ones and applies a little cream I assume to help heal the skin. She makes it clean and neat.
