My family and I have been going to this Fantastic Sams for over a decade. My son, daughter and myself have received haircuts and perms from many stylists who work here. We started off all seeing Sally, but she's always booked and really busy. On one visit, Ashley cut my hair. I'm very picky about my haircuts but Ashley cut it exactly the way I wanted her to. Since then, both my daughter and I get our hair cut by Ashley. Appointments are easy to book online or to just call the shop. There is a receptionist, who is a younger lady. I couldn't get an appointment with my usual stylist at her place of business, and needed my hair cleaned up for an event coming up. Making an appointment here online was easy, I picked any stylist because I assumed what I needed was easy enough. I got there early and they took me in early. From walking in to walking out the door, the entire interaction and haircut took 10 minutes. All I needed was my undercut cleaned up and a bang trim. The stylist didn't have me take my hair down, didn't try to clip it back or anything, just went at it with the clippers. She got it down to the length I needed but didn't clean up the line where it met my hair so there is uneven length, and managed to take a small chunk out of my regular length hair, which I didn't notice until I got in the car and readjusted my bun. My sideburns were also shaved and uneven in length and angle on both sides. Bang trim was fine, shaped wrong but acceptable. Charged $30 for this, not happy. Went home and it took a solid 20 minutes to get most of the hair clippings off me because they didn't put a paper collar on or do any cleanup or wipe down after the fact. Didn't get the stylist's name, but wouldn't return here. read more

Honestly, pretty disappointed in today's experience. I got a haircut about a month ago and was satisfied with the service and what I paid. So, today I brought my daughter in. Unfortunately, I asked for approx 5-6 inches be taken off and she only took off about 3. And then proceeded to leave 1/2 if my daughters hair wet. Additional charge if I want blow dried hair- shocking! When I paid and looked confused at what I was being charged, she just blamed the owner. Because she's 6 months over 11 years old, I was charged a woman's cut price. And even though her hair was the same length as mine prior, another additional charge. I feel like I was taken advantage of and we are not even 100% satisfied with the cut. I'd recommend being more forthcoming with additional charges so others don't feel the same unfortunate way. read more

Brought my son here since he hates cutting his hair but I needed him to be groomed for an event he had to work. The ladies here knew exactly what he wanted when I told them how he wanted the cut to be. They were able to cut some hair off and style it to his liking. Staff here is great. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel welcome. The salon itself was decorated for the holidays which made the wait better. Prices were great so we will definitely be back. No need to make an appointment because you can just walk in how we did. read more

I have been coming to this FS for years now for haircuts even as prices keep going up and up. Most of the stylists here are great but today was my last haircut at this place. I don't care what your politics are but it shouldn't be preached for all customers to hear. To each their own when it comes to politics but it shouldn't sound like Fox News when you are stuck in a chair. I would only recommend this place to MAGA people. This Brea location had steady customers while I was there this morning. They already had customers waiting as soon as they opened at 9am. Jenny has a great eye for hair. I could tell she has a lot of experience. She had great suggestions and I felt confident with her coloring and highlights. The deep conditioning makes your hair so soft and silky. I would recommend her The hair stylists wear masks while they are working. They all seem very professional while they worked. They had their regulars and knew their names. That's always a good sign. They listen to their customers and take great care with what they want done. And, they care extra care when shampooing as well. While I was there, they were constantly cleaning up and sweeping the areas. Overall, this location is great! read more

I have suffered from hair loss and have worn a wig daily for over 2 years . I decided that I would start taking supplements and do hair treatments to try to turn things around and decided to stop wearing a wig for a healthier scalp. On a whim I decided to pop in to FS for a cut , color and highlights. Ashley did an amazing job, and although she couldn't change my thin hair , she did transform it into a fuller looking head of hair ! I have gone to very expensive hair salons and will rave that this salon had amazing customer service from every staff member and Ashley worked fast and tirelessly to give me my self confidence back after so many years of hiding my hair under a wig. My 12 year old daughter needed a hair cut before going back to school and due to a conflict of my schedule, we weren't able to go to the our usual FS in Pasadena so I thought we would try the Brea location. It was easy to schedule an appointment online and they were very forgiving when I got there 15 minutes late. The receptionist was friendly and offered me a chair when there weren't any seats available while we were waiting. My daughter had a style she had in mind - curtain bangs and layers - pretty much what she always had except her hair grew out. Despite my urging for her to "cut more since your hair will grow back quick!", she was set on cutting no more than 2 inches of her hair MAX. It took about 15 minutes and while I was waiting, I saw a few ladies walking out loving their cuts with smiling faces so I felt relieved since my daughter is VERY picky about having her hair "cut too short". I sat next to the cashiers so I could hear them being charged "$35" each so I thought to myself the pricing was rather reasonable. Soon after, my daughter's stylist walked up to me to ask if I wanted her to dry my daughter's hair in order for me to check the length. She advised me the hair may appear longer when wet so I may see the length better when it's dry - so I agreed. In my mind, I didn't think much of it because I knew there would be an additional charge if they dry AND style the hair, but since she was only drying to let me see the cut, I didn't think there would be any additional charges. However, I was wrong, because about a minute later, she stopped and said "I just wanted to let you know there would be an additional charge for drying." At the time, I thought even if they do charge me extra it may just be the advertised $40 price for cut & style, so I said yes. When i was ready to pay, the cashier went to the stylist and after exchanging some words in Vietnamese, came back and told me the total would be "$50". I was a bit taken back because I have my own hair cut at a very nice professional salon near Brea mall and my hair is VERY long - the cut is $95. Therefore I didn't think a child's cut would be $50 at FS for literally just getting layers. She must've sensed my shock because she quickly said "She had a blow dry.", then said "We charge more for longer hair"... then jumped to "Cost is higher now to adjust to (I'm not sure if she said cost of running a business or covid...because she rambled on quickly as if she was struggling to find an excuse for charging me more), and she then offered me a $5 discount without me even asking for it. I was rather disappointed during my visit but my daughter was happy with her layers. I felt what happened was a bit shady and would've felt better if the stylist had just asked up front if I wanted my daughter's hair dried and styled for an additional charge than to made it seemed like she was offering to dry the hair so I could get a better sense of the length . I only gave a $5 tip this time but I normally would've given at least 30-35% tips on services had they been more honest with their pricing. Visiting this Brea location today makes driving 40+ mins to FS in Pasadena next time more worth it. I see many repeat customers at the Brea location and I'm happy for them since their customer service is top notch, but I wouldn't be coming back. read more

My typical go to spot for a trim, but today I asked for a trim max 2 inches and left with around five inches cut off and layers I never asked for. I'm sad because my hair takes forever to grow and I didn't realize how much was chopped off until it was too late. After it was done I said how short it was and I said two inches and she said "you still have a lot of hair left". CAUTION! Strangest and most unpleasant haircut experience ever! Not sure why they made my daughter's standing the whole time while getting her haircut. Didn't ask me if I was ok with the haircut and sent her back to me. My daughter's hair looked the same way as we went in. I sent her back to cut it shorter. (I did ask nicely!) Just left the salon for a color correction which I paid 300 for elsewhere. I walked out with my hair looking like this. My hair looks worse than when I came in. Sally was convinced it looked great, but how can she let a customer walk away with this hair? I only saw it when I cam home. Never coming back again. I also witnessed what another customer went through who bleached his hair and complained about bad communication. After he left they were all speaking ill of him saying how he wanted free services. I paid 200 dollars for this. I'm in disbelief. If I can get a refund that would be great. read more

I've been coming to this Fantastic Sam's for 15-20 years now. I don't think I've ever left a review. I'm picky about my hair so when I find a place that is consistent I keep coming back. This is the place for me. Loan is the hair stylist I go to. And this summer we added blue to my hair. Just a fun thing to do just for the summer. My hair is very short so the first time was interesting and she did an amazing job. The next two times after was much easier because we let my hair grow out some. Now that we got it where we want it, it's time to go back to the usual color until next time. Loan is a fantastic hair stylist I always leave there in a better mood than I came. I've never been disappointed. I can't say enough good things about her. If you're looking for a great stylist, check her out. Of course everyone there does a terrific job. Sally, who owns the place, Nancy, who's always fun to talk to and joke around with and Jenny are all wonderful. These three ladies have been there as long as I can remember. I think it is absolutely hilarious that another customer who was there at the same time as me wrote a 1 Star Review shortly after I did...mention that the staff was speaking ill of me for asking for free services. I was not at all asking for free services. There is nothing on that board I photographed that specifies the price of bleaching hair. Not everyone in their life has worked in a salon as a stylist or barber so therefore it is possible for someone who is just a human being to not know the difference between "coloring" & "bleaching". However, there is "permanent hair coloring" & "Bleach Re-Touch". The vibe of the establishment is severely lacking in etiquette and communication. Lack of quality customer service too. As a result - a complaint has been filed with corporate. As a suggestion - to speak ill of a customer (especially a regular) who has never come in with a complaint or issue in the past in front of other customers is childish, rude, and unacceptable regardless of the matter. A formal complaint has been sent in to Corporate. Hopefully there is a response from there and people are held accountable accordingly. read more

Fantastic Scams? Fantastic Bowl-Cuts? I brought a photo of what I wanted. She didn't even look at it. Just asked if i want an inch off the bottom and upsold me to a very expensive blow dry. She spent 5 minutes randomly chopping here and there - no sectioning, no skill, no layers, no point-cutting, it's not even on the sides. My bangs are chopped all the way to my ear on one side! I look like a kid on picture day with a FREAKING BOWL CUT! WHO would ever want this haircut?!?!?! Plus my hair is dramatically thinning right now. I'm devastated and just wanted to feel better about myself. Any decent hair pro would have recognized this. She proceeded to rip threw every wet strand blow drying with a round brush to get that cash-money. I probably lost another 1000+ hairs. Her coworkers kept looking over as she took her sweet time making look like a moron with me facing everyone. I felt humiliated. I was shaking paying the bill - I wanted to cry. Once she got my money, I said "goodbye" like a normal human does --- and she didn't even look up. 1) Are you proud of the haircut you gave me? 2) If someone gave YOU this haircut, would YOU be happy?! ******** Um NO YOU WOULD CRY ******* If you don't know how to do a basic haircut, please don't play professional hair stylist. came in for a haircut, I asked for long layers with face framing, Ashley did amazing. she listened to everything i wanted and did it perfectly. she washed, blow dried, and styled my hair and it came out sooo pretty. it looks so healthy and soft, probably the best it's looked in a while. the face framing is perfect and the layers fall so nicely. she was super sweet the whole time and it was quick too. 10/10 experience and haircut/style for sure. definitely recommend. read more

I had a really great review of Sally doing my hair but just a few days later my hair broke off in the front and it is so dry & brittle...she pulled my highlights all the way thru even though they were already blonde which is a a huge mistake...my hair broke off almost completely in the front luckily I can cover it up sort of, I hesitated writing this review but she also overcharged me!!, Don't go here or your hair will be a mess, it will take me 2 years before my hair grows out again & I tipped her great for what??
