Visited for something to do on a Thursday night and had a blast for 2 hours! Costed around $124 including tip. The hostess tended to us - was nice, brought us our drinks, picked up after us when we finished our drinks, checked in on how we were doing, and even notified when our final 10 minutes were. No matter how loud, you cannot hear the other karaoke goers in the other rooms. You had your own sound in your own room. You can adjust music lower if it does become too loud plus you can adjust the microphone volume as well. Drinks were better than expected. Ordered the following: Tokyo tea - sweet and could not taste the vodka, was almost like juice Kamikaze shots - smooth and not sour Overall, would love to come back here again. The food was terrible. It was a frozen pizza - Dr. Oetker's Ristorante pizza (I'm 95% sure that was the brand - I've survived on those during my uni days) for $15.50. Truly awful. The service is good, everyone is equipped to deal with drunk people so they aren't very courteous. But they've probably had a lot to deal with so it's understandable. They have individual rooms for each group, a mix of English and Japanese music and overpriced drinks. Eat and pregame before you go. Otherwise, it's a great time! read more

Song list is pretty limited. The rooms are a little dingy and privacy is a lacklustre. In the sense that, there are big windows on every door which people have to walk by to get to their rooms. Went here while I was on a family vacation in Vancouver. Great spot, spacious room, great song selections and easy to use controls. I like that volume can be controlled as well since I brought my young kids too. They enjoyed it. There are drink specials but a little watered down. So I went to the bar and ordered more drinks, which they'll make and deliver to your room. Then it hit me. My brother knows all the cute Korean girls that work here by name! Oh my god. Yes we've come to his hangout. Where he can sing and strut his peacock feathers with aplomb and when he's there he's TOM Jones. What's new pussycat? Whoa whoa whoa oh!!!! The harmony of food snacks, drinks and bad singing is a result of quick service, clean rooms and did I mention cute and pretty hot staff? This new location is much better than the older ones. Pretty good karaoke place! Pricing is reasonable considering the location and interior design. It was $9.75/hr per person when I went as a group of 3 and $8.75/hr per person when I went as a group of 6. They gave us 2 wireless mic's both times. Lots of song options, my friends and I mostly used the English and Korean song books. Sound system is good and not too difficult to navigate. Interior is very nicely designed with gradient lighting and disco lighting! Comparing against karaoke places in Richmond, yes it's more expensive, but there is larger song selection and nicer rooms and sound systems. It's a more convenient location to meet with my friends from across the city since it's in downtown, so we'll definitely be back! read more

Made a rough choice going to this place- i think it was like $300+(maybe more possibly) for 3 hrs or something like that... Definitely not as fun as it could be. Several of my friends brought alcohol as gifts and were confiscated. Seriously. It was just a round of shots for the birthday boy. Staff cleared up my shots and spilled all the liquor- on the counter and in the bag- it was expensive liquor also. Poorly handled. We were a group of professional adults in our late 20s and mid 30s- seriously. I think my experience is with karaoke places that are waaaaaayyyy less uptight. I would have bought a round of drinks for the whole room and they would have gotten lots of business- had they not been so uptight.Their communication & style of policing-vs customer service was a huge turn off. I bet if I got a birthday cake they would have tried and charged us for that too- or thought we would hide drinks in it. Staff very disinterested in keeping business. I'm guessing they are downtown and in a busy area and don't care- cause people will always come. They are super anal- and i think the venue sucked a lot of the fun out of the party. This was my first karaoke experience so I wouldn't have much to say but I was very satisfied. Although it's a bar, minors are allowed to go for karaoke but are not allowed to order alcohol i'm assuming. My friends and I came for kpop and there were many updated songs. We came in a group of 4 so it was $63 for 2hrs all together. (~$15/per/2hr) One bad thing I would say is that the walls aren't thick enough so you could hear people from other rooms singing but we didn't really care. After, the lights will get turned on to remind you that the time limit is over but you were allowed to finish the song. This is my first EVER review. I don't write reviews normally, but I've gradually become more and more appalled at the service we received at this establishment as my brain pieces together the events of that night. Upon arrival, the hostess was very uninterested in getting our business and rude. There were 6 of us and you only have a 20 person room? We'll take it! WHY was it such an issue if it was just over an hour before closing, and we were willing to pay the overpriced room rate? Did you think another group of 20 was going to show up right then and need the room at 2AM? 10 minutes into our hour (2 songs in), the lights were flipped on from the outside by the staff. One person from our group had to go out and ask them to shut the light back off. Throughout the hour, the songs kept disappearing from our reserved songs list, and having to research the song # and typing it in took up precious minutes that we paid for and could have been singing. When the hour was up, the girl ran in, snatched up the books, remote, and mic mid-song and high-tailed it right out the room without a word. DO NOT GO HERE if you care about being treated with respect, or at least as a PAYING customer. Do you value your hard earned money? Then don't spend it here. Buy yourself a magic mic to enjoy in the comfort of your home. After a few nights' use, it'll pay for it self. read more

Horrible place. I can't believe there is positive reviews with how bad the service and pricing is. -The room is tiny and cramped -The music selection isn't great - The service is terrible. The women at the counter were okay but the bartender was miserable and one of the women(blonde) stormed in 5 minutes before we had to leave, snatched the song remote off the table and left angry treating us as if we had been there hours past our end time. -The four cheese pizza that is $17? it's a $6 frozen Ristorante pizza you buy at anyway grocery store and was told it would take around 30-40 minutes for it to cook. Great place to come with a group of people to have some fun while doing something different! They have spacious rooms that fit mid-sized parties of people and a great selection of music to choose from ranging from Korean, english and also Spanish speaking songs. I want the old Fantacity back. The new Fantacity is a ruder, pricier, more sterile, no fun version. Or maybe I wasn't drunk enough to overlook all these things. It's very possible. In fact we were barely drinking at all at this venue for reasons listed below. Our group made reservations ahead of time and when we showed up 10 min late (thanks to Vancouver's taxi situation which we will not get into right now), we were penalized. But not only were we not told that ahead of time, we were not told when we arrived. Only after we paid up for a full 2 hours , did the staff rudely tell us that we were wasting our time and that we wouldn't be given time back. There was no reservation following ours. And they have changed what's included in the price which has increased from previously. Food and drinks used to be included and as a matter of principle, our group did not order more than a couple drinks because we were not impressed. They are sure to lose money this way because as I recall, our groups almost always ordered more drinks than what was included in the price and stayed longer because we were having more fun. Granted they do have a good selection of songs but you spend an inordinate amount of time looking through badly organized songbooks. After all this time, they have only managed to print one English songbook in order of artist. All their other books list songs alphabetically - how the heck does one search by song title? Bottom-line: This is No Fun-tacity. It is not worth it. read more

I came here with my husband and some of his coworkers after their Christmas party since we were all pretty excited about the prospect of singing karaoke. Since the Christmas party was really close to Robson Street, we decided to check out Fantacity. Fantacity definitely gives you the karaoke experience. They have private rooms that can comfortably fit ~15 people and a huge binder of song choices. Each room comes with two microphones, and there's plenty of seating on couches along the edges of the room. They also offer a full bar. However, that's about where the positives end. Fantacity is really expensive! It cost us $100/hour to rent the room. I understand they have to make money, but the song selection wasn't that stellar. They had a decent selection of karaoke favorites (Sweet Caroline, Don't Stop Believing, Wonderwall), but outside of that the selection is slim. Also, there was a lot of typos on screen for the song lyrics, which doesn't really matter when you're drinking and having a good time, but is a bit sloppy. Alcohol is a bit pricey too. If you're desperate for karaoke in Vancouver, Fantacity is okay if you're willing to spend a lot of money. I have the feeling that there has to be better karaoke places in Vancouver and the lower mainland, so I can only give this place two stars. read more

I would say it is a little expensive for me ($$) but it is very worth! Service is great, music and sound quality is good! It's awesome that they have more of the recent and English pop songs! (2018) Most other karaoke places have a majority of Asian pop music or very few of the English pop songs. Overall, my favourite karaoke place to have fun jamming out with friends. read more

I'll start off by saying I don't have high standards for karaoke because I don't go often. Every so often I'll feel like bellowing my heart out with old school jams and end up at fantacity. I've been here 3 times and I've always had fun. The sangria isn't bad either! With Karaoke, there are really only two types of people: those who love it and those who hate it. Unfortunately, Fantacity is a Karaoke location that can provide some glitz and glam, but it is done in such a way that it can cause even the those people who like Karaoke to second guess if they really want to that evening. Located in the heart of the action of Robson Street, Fantacity stands to be in the perfect location. When you first enter the facility on the second floor, you will greeted by a large bar and musical sounds emanating from one of the many rooms to the side. Although looking full of music and fun times, things start to become less whimsical fairly quickly. On busy nights, (Friday/Saturday) a large private room costs $100 for an hour. With this said, the room did hold ~15 of us, but to me this still seemed like a bit. Each room has a television (where the lyrics are shown), a few musical aids (tambourines, bells, etc.), sitting benches and a table or two. Nothing glamorous, but nothing really cheap looking either. Although the rooms are adequate to hold people, the service was both slow and erratic. For example, when we first arrived they took our drink and food orders (coming back and talking to us 3 or 4 times within the first 10 min to make sure they got the order right). But then they didn't check on us again until the last 5 minutes that we had to room booked. To me, when you're paying by the hour, you hope an establishment can get the order on one go, and will hopefully check in (not necessarily stopping you) to see if you need something else, with more than just 5 minutes to go. To add to things, the music selection was not really up to date or full. For me I was excited to see Billy Joel, but sad to see We Didn't Start the Fire and Piano Man were both not on the list, and Cake was missing all together. I know I am probably not the exact crowd that Fantacity is targeting (as shown by having what appeared like an extensive list of Asian songs), but it would have really been nice to have more selection. On the note of songs, many of the song lyrics had typos on the screen, and the screen didn't even show the music videos for any of the songs (instead it was a continuous safari/jungle/hill/mountain montage). Even with all these things, I was still remaining in a fairly positive spirit towards Fantacity. However, after paying for a second hour, I decided to order a beer. A 12 once glass of Canadian or Okanagan Springs 1516 Lager, $6.50 (plus tax). To me, with the high cost of the room, lack of songs, slow service, extremely over priced mediocre beer was the last item for me to recommend Fantacity. Overall, the experience was ok at best at Fantacity. Althought Karaoke can be a tonne of fun, I would recommend going elsewhere (even if it's at a bar where you have to sing in front of everyone) as I'm almost certain you'll have a better (and definitely cheaper) time. read more

Yes, it's expensive. But it totally beats out some of the other karaoke joints I've been to out here in Vancouver. And let's face it.. They're downtown, they serve drinks (not all karaoke joints do and some people need the liquid courage) and the girls are cute (which helps convince some of my guy friends to come out to begin with)! Snacking on popcorn chicken while I'm faded is love. So yes. The service is just okay and it isn't as cheap or as convenient as the places in Korea or LA, but I like it & I always have a good time when I'm out here. read more

French fries were nice n good portions, ambience feels more for the upscale crowd, it's really nice and all but at a karaoke place I'd like to feel laid back n not stiff, however service was great, fries were good, and in order to get drinks you must buy a food dish first. I thought it was really small n could've had a few more rooms but that would take away from their bar and lobby, overall it was a great experience, we were given a stuffy room and before you know it we were all sweating buckets, I asked for air conditioning adjustment but they had none, but eventually after asking we were able to move to a double sized room which was really nice of them, excellent service, I'd probably go again if I'm feeling in need to hang downtown, but definitely would prefer going to more cheaper laid back karaoke's in burnaby! WARNING!!! Please read. we were SCAMMED, tried to go through fantacity directly but they refused to cooperate. It was a birthday party and I had prepaid. my lovely brother at the end who was a bit drunk decided to go up and request to extend the time at karaoke. The business had told us we had the room until 1am and they closed at 1am. my brother left and no one from the business told us we had the room longer. they also told us 'last call' at 1am, which we had thought meant we had to leave. They let us leave with no warning my brother paid an extra $170 for the room. when I called them back they first tried to claim we left at 1:45am which I proceeded to advise them to pull up the cameras. I tried to deal directly with the karaoke bar but they refused! They said 'we understand it is a miscommunication but no refunds'. it is not a miscommunication, no one had told us we had the room longer. they took advantage of the fact that my brother left and kicked us out and won't give the money back. we will be leaving a better business review. horrible customer service with a manager who spoke over me and didn't listen to anything I said! read more

Fantacity is somewhere you would go if you were really desperate for some sort of fun but you don't want to drink, or can't drink. The building looks super sketchy but when you walk into the main bar area/lobby, it isn't as bad as it looks outside. The rooms were huge, or the room that my friends and I got was pretty big. As I am Korean my expectations were pretty low, but it was clean and it was decent for the price because of the fact that many people don't come to Vancouver looking for Karaoke. I can't drink, so I don't know how the drinks are, but it's pretty pricy for one drink. They also require you to buy food, or else you won't be able to order any drinks. For three people it was $27 all together, and we paid nine dollars each. Which is pretty good for one hour. The only thing is that, although the service was pretty good, it was pretty brief and they said we had ten minutes left when we had only been in there for 40 minutes. They turned the lights on in our room which I assumed was them telling us to leave. Otherwise if you want karaoke and aren't looking to spend that much money, Fantacity is a pretty good choice. read more

Several of my friends booked a large room here for a group birthday on a Friday night. Upon arrival, I was asked to pay upfront and the debit machine requested I input a tip. Not having been here before, I tipped on the already high bill. I regret this as the staff provided us with no service in the 3 hours we were there. We were expected to go to the bar to purchase the overpriced drinks ($22.00 for a pitcher of beer). The only time we saw a staff member was when they ran into the room the second our time ended and grabbed the book and remote from us, mid-song. We were told we needed to leave the room immediately for an incoming group but 20 minutes later the room remained empty. When I spoke with the manager about this he offered to buy drinks for some of the men in my party to 'call it even'. They did not take him up on this and we simply left feeling disappointed. For the very high cost of the room and drinks, and lack of proper service I would not recommend Fantacity to anyone. read more

This is officially the best Karaoke Box/ Norebang in the Downtown Vancouver area in terms of quality and song selection. 1. LOCATION & DECOR: Fantacity has moved to Robson near Thurlow (upstairs) from it's old Alberni & Thurlow location. It has fully renovated rooms and a bar area. Each room consists of 2 Karaoke machines to choose from, wireless mic system and a coloured party light on the ceiling with white walls and windows, and a tambourine. 2. FOOD & DRINK: Fully licensed bar. You can order drinks/pitchers and food to the room at average prices. 3. QUALITY: This is the cleanest and nicest Karaoke place in Downtown. 4. SONG SELECTION: BEST FOR THE LATEST OR FAIRLY NEW ENGLISH , KOREAN, AND JAPANESE SONGS 5. MACHINE: Korean- Taijin Ziller or Japanese- UGA ( owned by Joysound) They are also the only place to offer your choice of either a Korean machine (the only place to use the Taijin Ziller machine which has the best and newest selection of English and Korean songs from late previous year to early current year and also includes a good selection of Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and I think Vietnamese and Filipino) or a Japanese machine (UGA machine which is owned by Joysound). The only Karaoke Box that I know of in the lower mainland to have a Japanese machine. I don't know how often the Japanese machine gets updated but it has the best selection of Japanese songs in all the Lower Mainland from my experience. The Japanese machine also has Korean, English and Chinese songs but not as up to date as the Korean machine. The Japanese machine also uses a touch screen remote in Japanese which takes a little time to get used to. - Each room has both machines but you should choose before you enter. 6. PRICE: Quality is definitely the best but you do pay a slightly higher rate. People complaining about the cost of Karaoke in Vancouver compared to Asia should realize that Karaoke box prices in the downtown area are almost the same across the board give or take a couple dollars. However this place has a cheaper rate from 2pm - 7pm everyday. Sunday to Thursday after 7pm is the typical downtown karaoke rate.Usually around $35-40 for 3-4 people. Friday Saturday nights are higher with with a flat rate of $55/hour for 2-6 or 8 people can't remember. Understandably as this place get's packed on Friday, Saturday nights and you could be waiting for a while. Reservations are probably a good idea for the weekend. There are a lot of parties and/or big groups that come here to sing. Pay by number of people per hour from a minimum of 2 people. Size of room doesn't matter. I find the place a little more upscale than other Korean Karaoke places which seem a little darker and more ghetto. If you are looking for high quality and the BEST selection of English, Japanese, and Korean songs in town, this is the place you want to be. read more

We just did our friend's birthday here. It was a ton of fun and who doesn't love karaoke? However, the staff were awful, really rude ! It was super overpriced room rental with nothing on their website listing how much they charge. All in all it was $192 an hour! ouch! And they yell at you and turn on the lights ten minutes before your time is up! The bartender was nice but absolutely no service of any kind. You have to order yourself food and drinks. We went to Fantacity after a night out on the town to do some karaoke. I am giving 1 star for the amount of fun we had, however the service was horrible. We will start with the bar... we ordered drinks that were weak and watered down. The first set of drinks, i watched the bartender pour not even a whole 1 oz shot in my drink. Drinks were 12$ each and after seeing the pour i did not tip for service. Thereafter, i waited at the bar when no one was around for close to 5 mins with the bartender walking past me not even acknowledging i was standing there. Next we booked our room for 1 hour and then an additional hour after that. We couldn't stay in the same room we had, we had to leave the room we were in and move down the hall. The servers came in both times 45 ish mins into the sessions taking away our remote and saying it was our last song. We still had 10-15 mins left in our session which could of been a couple more songs. If the price was reasonable for the evening i would just let the time go but because we spent alot of money there we told the server that we still had time and were going to stay the full hour. I am not at all impressed by this place do yourself a favour and take the 200$ you will spend at this place for karaoke and drinks and buy yourself your own machine and bottles you will have a far better time. read more

Private room karaoke is a lot of fun, and Fantacity has a pretty good setup. Rates are maybe a bit expensive, and the song selection could be better (though it's certainly decent), but it's the best downtown option. Heads up for those drinking (which should be everyone) - because of their liquor license, you have to buy food. Unfortunately the food is awful. Make sure you've eaten beforehand, and put in one order for the cheapest thing on the menu (edamame beans I think), then fill up on beer/other booze. read more

Paid 80$ to book a room from 12-1am. Without notice an employee came in, collected unfinished drinks and told us our time was finished at 12:45. When this was discussed with staff after vacating the room, staff were unapologetic, stating they had another party to bring in. This was not indicated when we agreed to pay for an hour up front. Saw a lot of the not so good reviews about Fantacity, but my friends and I decided to check it out anyways. When we first went in it looked empty. A lot of rooms were opened. Probably it was too early to sing K anyways. The service was great. The girl that helped us was very nice and she was willing to help us take lots of pictures around the karaoke. Food & Beer was delicious. They had a huge book of songs and they have a lot of recent songs as well. Great mics too! read more

Came here for my 30th birthday and had a pretty negative experience overall. Came here 5 minutes late and they had given away my reservation. The lady at the front desk proceeded to scold me for not calling them or letting them know that I would be arriving late (which is understandable, however her attitude was totally uncalled for). They were able to offer me another room in 20 minutes so we decided to wait for the room. I had 1 or 2 friends arrive a bit late and so they had me leave the room multiple times to go pay for them. They keep a close eye on you and it feels like you have no privacy. My friend had brought a birthday cake and one of the staff came in and scolded us for bringing 'outside food' in. I agree with all the other reviewers that this venue is totally uptight and anal. Their bar is really overpriced. And their customer service style is just plain annoying. Be prepared to be watched like a hawk. Totally sucked the fun out of my karaoke experience here. Wouldn't recommend it, try other karaoke places if you can. read more
