[[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only is Fandi Mata aesthetically, gorgeous as soon as you walk in, but the customer service was exceptional and probably one of the best experiences I've had in a very long time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To top all of that off, the food was exceptional. This is going to become my go to stop when I'm in New York. And a big shout out to Marco, who was absolutely amazing.

We had a party of 10 dine at Fandi Mata for Saturday brunch and everything from the food, to the ambiance, to music, to service was great. The stand out dish was the potato rosti with smoked salmon. Might literally be the top potato dish I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and a wonderful balance of flavors with the smoked salmon, poaches eggs, and yogurt. The lemon ricotta pancakes and shakshuka were also big hits with the group. They offer brunch alcoholic drinks in pitchers which is convenient to share with the table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is huge and tastefully decorated with dozens of real plants. Great place for big groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a live jazz with a vocalist playing which added to the high energy. It got a bit loud at times, but we were seated right next to the stage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our servers were also so accommodating and funny when we had very staggered arrivals and various allergies at the table.

PROS: 5 stars because of the service and our food. Our waiter, Danilo, was such a great sport taking care of our big table. He was so attentive and really nice to see someone that showed that he cared about our orders coming on time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant and ambience was beautiful and my favorite items were the Mediterranean cigars and the Caesar Salad[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Con: [[HIGHLIGHT]]many of us ladies noticed a bathroom smell all night long and I really think it was just where we were sitting. I hope the restaurant can do something about this because it smelled like cleaning products.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So if you go there do not sit close to the wall where the bathrooms are.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant has such a fun, energetic party vibe that is perfect for groups. On a Saturday evening, there was a DJ spinning with a disco ball and all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is gorgeously decorated with plants and colorful tiles from the bottom to second floor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As for the food, nothing really stood out to me. Our each had a cocktail as I had the Good Night Adeline ($19). Then our table of 8 shared two orders of the Mezze Platter ($32) and Croquetas ($19), which came with 4 cheesy balls each. The mezze platter was nice to share as it came with three dips and a variety of spreads and small bites. Then we also ordered a Sopressata ($26) and Prosciutto ($28) pizza for the table as well. It was odd that one pizza was cut in 8 slices while the other was in 6 slices. Also, the prosciutto had way too much arugula on it. As we paid for the bill, our server offered us a free shot of tequila for leaving a Google review, so we all did. It turned out to be just half a shot, which we questioned. In the end, we left a bit confused and unsatisfied but it didn't seem like they could do anything about it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Anyways, really nothing all that special about this spot besides the party vibes if that's what you're going for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Took one of my good friends here for her birthday, [[HIGHLIGHT]]this place is beautiful with lovely greenery from the plants all around & the colors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat at the bar & ordered the cocktail flight (only available during happy hour & if sitting at the bar) all 3 drinks were delicious! Then eventually got seated at our table where we ordered a pizza & added prosciutto toppings to it with some wine, the staff was friendly & attentive to our needs as well. Overall we had a great time at Fanti Mata!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The most unique aspect of Fando Mata is the gorgeous ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, the food does not match that standard. Between their specialty croquettas, lamb steak, and branzino, everything we had was bland and unenjoyable. The soppressatta pizza was the only decent dish we had all night. Even my shirley temple drink was disappointing. Overall, very unsatisfying.

I made a reservation a week in advance for a girls night I have had this place on my places to visit and glad it didn't disappoint as it was an IG recommendation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was transported to Tulum, the doors were open which gave it a natural airy experience on a Friday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with shared appetizers and picked a couple of entrees to share. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a live DJ and the ambiance and food matched the energy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would come again and spoke to my friends to visit!

Overall rating: 4.3 So I've had this place saved for years based off a tiktok that claimed they had a great happy hour. That was a lie. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is so beautiful but since I came here for the happy hour, I was very disappointed with limited options.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A cocktail flight of 3x for $20 is okay, but Im also not trying to get drunk at 5pm. $6 for a cocktail would have been preferred. Also the drinks are too sweet and I only liked one of them. The bartenders were nice, but it wasn't the spot for me solo. Maybe a date.

Finally can cross Fandi Mata off the list. Another impromptu date night, we made a reservation for 9 pm and were excited to try this place out, was a little nervous due to the reviews but said why not?! We got in at 8:55 and the hostess told us our table wouldn't be ready for another 20 minutes, when we asked why, she replied "we're busy, go to the bar" ... I wanted to leave at that instinct but we were already there and starving lol .. We sat by the bar & could see that other people were also frustrated and waiting.. by 9:25-ish, another hostess came by and apologized so many times & took us to our table (she was so sweet and turned the night around). As for the vibe, the place itself is so spacious and beautiful. They had a live DJ and he was playing bangers. The food was okay, the temperature of some of the food was kinda cold? Out of all the items we ordered, the chicken kebabs were the best (portion wise & it was warm / tasty!) but my absolute favorite had to be the arancini rice pudding balls! The pistachio ice cream came melted but I think if the temperature was colder, it also would've been good! I can see myself coming back for the vibes and drinks!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Wow what an amazing establishment![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I mean with the decor being beautiful and them selling paintings on the spot,[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] service is great very friendly and knows the menu well for recommendations. Also, drinks made it love. I definitely prefer this for a great bday gathering or nice night out with someone special. Can't miss, definitely order the cucumber salad

Had a lil Sunday brunch with my girlfriends at Fandi Mata and it did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is super cute and the space is huge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even had live music![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the brunch platter which came with smoked salmon, eggs, pita bread, cream cheese and a whole bunch of condiments. Perfect girl finger food. We also got the tuna tartare and croquettes which were both delicious! We got a pitcher of the passion fruit drink and although it was strong, it was also tasty. The food and drinks are definitely a little overpriced here but you're paying for the ambiance.

    Jesse Y.

Mediterranean inspired amid plant filled spacious warehouse deco. Outdoor vibes while being indoor. Food and drinks is top notch just pace of service could be dialed back a bit otherwise 5 star. No need to ask if finished with drink, appetizer and entree every 3 minutes. Give your customers little time to chill and relax especially at 6pm and only 25% at capacity.

Beautiful place! A cross between a North African bazaar and industrial architecture. High ceilings with catwalk like structures up above. The interior designer has found a way to inject a cozy atmosphere into a vast and wide open space. The waitstaff were absolutely delightful. Every last one of them. From the waitress to the server to those bussing the table. We had an elderly lady with us who was cold as the AC register was directly above our table. I asked to move to a different table and we were promptly accommodated, and one of the staff came over and put some pillows behind our elder's back and made sure she was comfortable. That was beautiful! Now for the food. I'm a food snob and make no apologies for it. I can certainly nitpick. There'll be no nitpicking here. Everything was top notch, and we ordered a lot of food. I won't comment on all of it, but I do want to mention the hamburger. I don't usually order hamburgers in any place other than a diner. But I felt like a hamburger and was surprised to learn that this predominantly Mediterranean restaurant had one on the menu. Serendipity! Well, it was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had. Presentation was beautiful (down to the mini gherkin sitting on top and secured by a decorative sandwich skewer, the bun branded with a nice design). It was a birthday party and we arrived pretty late. By the time we finished our dinner, the kitchen was about ready to close, so we didn't want to impose on the staff and keep them after working hours to order dessert for the birthday girl. But, the waitress overheard us talking about a birthday dessert and took it upon herself to bring a piece of cake with a birthday candle. Nice surprise! 5 Stars for the entire evening! I highly recommend Fandi Mata to anyone who enjoys good food and friendly people.

    Is this place dog friendly?

No, I don't think it is

Is it easy to find parking near Mata for sunday brunch?

There is street parking so depends on time

I am trying to make a reservation for my friend's brithday and i need help with the seating areas. Which area is better for picture, dining room or main dining area?

Main dining are has good views but our in the open and less private . I'd do the seating on the 2nd floor which is like a balcony type style .

Is restaurant good for pre-teens? Families?

I wouldn't say it's good for that, as this is a trendy place with music that attracts a young crowd, but they will accommodate you. We went there for lunch with our 3 year old kid, and we had no issues, although we did feel a bit out of place.

How is the parking here? is there meters? thinking of stopping by for brunch on the weekend!

I went there on a Saturday, and was able to find street parking a couple of blocks away.

    Good for toddlers?

It gets pretty loud inside so I would say probably not, unless your child is okay with noise.

    Is the food here halal?

    No it is not

Does this place get busy? Is it necessary to make a reservation?

They take reservations over the phone and on ressie

    How are the vegetarian options?

    They have great vegetarian options!

I went back for a weekday lunch recently and the food and atmosphere both hold up fabulously, so it makes sense why they've remained a brunch mainstay at both their East Village and Williamsburg locations. I enjoy that they serve their hot moroccan tea in a glass as is traditional, so you can see all the fresh mint leaves in your cup. I had tea like this multiple times a day during my trip to Morocco a few years back so sipping on this here took me back in time. I ordered a short stack of their blueberry pancakes which were very fluffy and delicious. They're not the kind of pancake with crispy edges, which are my preferred kind of pancake but I still found them satisfying. The moroccan eggs, which are two poached eggs in spicy stewed tomatoes and served with zahar pita is a delight. The pita is very fluffy and the zahatar adds such a nice fragrant spice to the bread. They used to serve this with potatoes but now those come at an additional charge but are well worth getting. The Williamsburg location also has pretty good wifi and they let me work on my laptop through my brief stay there. Kitchen was speedy too.

The Chocolate Babka dessert is a great way to end your meal, and they do make a solid espresso martini for those wondering. There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.

I don't eat wheat, and haven't my entire life, so I usually don't say anything about it if it seems to me the place doesn't cater to that sort of restriction. The server noticed however, and offered sliced cucumbers for the dips. Such a lovely detail, brava. Did I mention how deeeeeeeelicious everything was? Hubby had the steak shishlika which was perfectly tender and charred at once. I had the chicken shishlika which was good, but not the wow of the steak. Each and every salad, dip, pickle etc was perfectly spiced, cooked, presented. The nuances were just right. Nothing too precious or sideways. Just honest, well built yummy food. And the fries. You MUST get the fries. We ordered the tahini ranch along with the tahini catsup. In my opinion, that wasn't necessary. But if you're a ranch lover, go for it. Then the dessert! Soft serve with a cherry reduction and some kind of flourless chocolate brownie... I don't need to say more. The service was excellent. The food delicious.
