I have been in Fancy Nails twice so far. The first time I was in the area running errands, and just searched on Yelp for a nail salon that was close-by since I was in a rush. They did a really great job with the manicure and pedicure. And I felt the manicure lasted a a few days longer than usual, so I was really happy with the result. Second time I went by for just a quick manicure and was also very happy with the results. The employees here are really nice and friendly. But they do need more nail polish colors. But overall I was happy about the results. If you park on their side of Hillhurst, it is only one hour metered parking. For a mani pedi you are probably going to have to run out to put more money in the meter. The lady told me that across the street the meters allow for more time on them. So either park across the street or in the residential section. read more

I love this nail salon. The owner and the workers are extremely nice and very professional. I always get great service. I've had regular manicures and pedicures and I've also had the gel. I am always happy with their service. I even sometimes take my own nail file and nail polish and they always accommodate my requests. The place is very clean and I feel safe going there. Every time I come here (usually a weekday or weekend morning) I see two bored looking Asian ladies sitting there with no customers. But when I ask if I can get a mani-pedi done, they say no! I feel like since the first time, quality of service has gone down more & more. I'm pretty basic, I either get French tips or pale natural pink gel, basic coffin/squared shape. It's really hard to mess that up if you ask me.. they don't have pink & white acrylic service.. and the white tips turn yellow, the polish french always chips/yellows..so I stopped getting French =/..fine but then they only have 1 pale pink gel color, and it comes out that purple/pink that's not natural, so I have had to ask every time to mix a layer of a peachier pink to get the right color...which never happens. I've honestly never gotten the color I wanted here and they rush you to pick and act like you are a huge pain in the ass if you tell them the color isn't what you wanted. The last time I went in I was there for 3.5 hours bc the dark red gel polish I chose bubbled up/was streaky (looked old), so she wanted to add another layer of a different red that wasn't what I wanted. I said I'd prefer not to, and she huffed and puffed to the other women while she halfass removed the dark red and put on light pink. Like it was my fault the color I chose was defective ?? The pink wasn't at all what I wanted (the rest of the colors were with another customer) and the dark red polish was visible all over the sides, cuticle and under the tip still. She told me it would wash off. It's frigen gel... It never washed off lol. On top of it, she filed some of my nails a totally different length & shape than the rest. It looked like my 5 yr old niece did them. They are usually kind to me and do a good job, and I truly am pretty low maintenance/simple so I hate to be bitchy. But they charged me full price for the worst fill I've ever received that took almost 4 hours. $35 for a fill (I swear the price is different every time). I even let her know I had an important date that night and that I work the rest of the week & can't come back (which is what they suggested when I didn't like the color). Pretty shitty service... I don't mind paying full price & I tip well but I expect at least my basic needs to be met. I would've went back to demand a fix but I literally don't have time so I'm just ripping them off and not going back. Tired of being treated like I'm a pain in the ass dumb white girl by nail salons.. you specialize in nails, of course the satisfaction with the final product is what's important/what I'm paying for. Maybe pay employees hourly, maybe don't do nails if you hate your job/life, I don't know, just please for the love of God give me a simple manicure in less than 2 hours. At no specialty in my profession could I half ass a job, blame the customer and then get paid in full and tipped and scoff at the tip and talk shit about your race in a different language. Quality of service is universal, respect is universal.. I live a few blocks from here and i wish this place made my money worth while. I went here for my friends's wedding to get nails done, my nails was chpping one by one after a few hours later. By end of the night, i see my bright chipped nails everywhere on the dance floor. Ouch!! Not to mention, due to small place, you need to make an appoitment. Walk in?.. Nop. Never will I come here again! I was referred here by a friend. Originally I wanted a gel mani/pedi. They don't have a good selection of colors and don't have the matching polish for gel and regular color for toes. The lady that did my toes did not remove any ingrown or extra skin on the side and maybe possibly if at most only scrubbed my feet for a minute. When done with the pedicure she asked me to move to her station for manicure ( by this point I was pissed but it was cheaper for mani pedi so I requested regular mani) I put on my own flip flops to avoid walking on the tile dirty cold floor barefoot (who wants to get their feet dirty when they just paid a pedicure???), she didn't offer to help me me put on my flip flops just walked away. So I put them on myself trying to not mess up the polish on my toes when I my up my big toe and pinky. I let the front receptionist know I messed them up and she tells me you didn't let her put them on. Wait a minute did she ASK??? NO! She didn't. Then she comes to "fix" them and just puts polish over them...wait aren't you supposed to put top coat??? Then when doing my manicure she tries to make small talk....I don't want to talk so just answer yes or no , then she apologizes ok that's nice I appreciate it but you didn't do a good job on my manicure didn't cut my cuticles and why do my nails still look dirty?? Totally un-fancy place, but good job with mani and pedis. I don't do fillers and such, so can't comment on those. Do make an appointment. I also bring my own polish, because their selection is limited. Make sure to check your nails before leaving. I went here based on YELP reviews for a manicure and to have gels put on. Negatives: I was frustrated that I was told I HAD to get a manicure when all I wanted was the gels (I have had just gels put on in three states in several salons, so I know I didn't HAVE to). Now, I know I never HAVE to do anything, so it was my choice to add the manicure, but I don't like that the nail-tech made it seem I had to have both. It was a cheat of an upsale. Also, the gels she applied peeled almost right away, don't look very nice, and were pricy for what I got. Not worth it. Go elsewhere for this. Positives: Everyone was nice and welcoming. It's pretty clean, bright, and airy. This is important to me as the other nail salons in close proximity to this one are not very nice at all and look like hole-in-the-wall sweat-shops. This salon has taken care to place nice massage chairs in the salon and has small, welcoming area to sit and wait for your turn in the seat. When the gels peeled, I called and they let me come in and fixed the two that were issues (however, it's now two days later and other gels are now peeling). The pedicure was nice. read more

I can't speak for every nail tech in here, but I can say that Lynn is wonderful. She has a lovely spirit and she will whip your feet and nails into beautiful shape. A nice lady took her time making sure my nails were the shape I liked and gave me a nice lengthy foot massage instead of a leg scrub as I asked. Well...the prices are fancy. The pedicure I got was sub-par. Couldn't believe I paid $22 for a cheap pedi. When I pay that, I usually get my money's worth. I've paid HALF that and gotten an amazing pedi. What's worse is, my boyfriend had never gotten one before. I convinced him to go with me, and promised that it probably wouldn't be more than $20. The weirdest part? I got polish, AND needed polish removed- he obviously didn't- and we were charged the same price? $22 to just rub a guy's feet and file his nails? REALLY? My polish is already chipping and it hasn't been a week. Also, we had no appointment- and girls who had called and made appointments were forced to wait for unnecessary periods of time. I've been to all the salons in the area, and I'm pretty old school in the way that I sometimes still get acrylics. A few around don't to acrylics and the ones that do I have experienced to be not so friendly. When I spend money and I don't mind doing it I enjoy a happy experience. Decent enough place and my nails look good. Would probably be a good place if you get your nails done a lot but if you're looking for a nice relaxing treat like I was, then I wouldn't come here. It cost me $52 plus tip for a regular pedicure and gel manicure, which at that price you expect a little more customer service. Easily the BEST nail salon around!!! This place is reasonably priced, everything is very sanitary, the nail salon is cute, great customer service, and they always do a great job on my nails! My gel nails always last more than 3 weeks and they do a fantastic job getting the gel polish off without damaging my nails. Another major plus is their fabulous customer service. The ladies are always extra friendly and they are so nice that every time I come in they even offer to put change in my meter for me to make sure that I don't get a ticket while I am there! I don't even live on this side of town, but I make sure to make the drive over from the west side because no one does a better job than they do. read more
