If you're a man, if you're over 5'11, if you just want a basic manicure: bad place to go. Volume over quality at Gloss Nail Spa, and a couple of over-clipped cuticles. Hopefully it wasn't a personal problem... Here's the spill: I've been here twice for a simple manicure and buff. The chairs and tables are very low, it's not relaxing for a taller person. There are no hand rests, your arms (and any of your jewelry) are just against wood and glass, maybe the towel. Mind you, their towels are raggedy and stained. The first manicure, reasonable. Acetone before buffing, nails were acceptably shaped. The second, hot mess. Lisa left 3 of my nails half crooked, I had to fix them myself. She was very rough with my cuticles, she gave me a bleeder. She did not prep my nails with acetone before the buff, even though I asked if she was going to clean the nail beforehand. She rudely told me to wait until she was done. She also used too high of a grain to buff my nails before the shine, I watched her try and fix the orange block with other sanders. Once she realized my temperament shifted, then she's trying to up the service and treat me like a respected client, trying to use the green cleaning solution on my wounds. I'll share the work below. I do better with my eyes closed. This is the simplest service available, so maybe they don't care because of the price point, maybe she had a personal problem with me and taking her time to do a thorough and respectable job was not an option for her. read more

Try finding a different spot. I've been here multiple times only because of the convenience and I'm a regular at their other location, but this place consistently falls short. Every visit I leave slightly disappointed, wishing I had just made the 40+ minute drive to the Gloss Nail Spa in Pasadena instead. French tips are a hit or miss, but mostly a miss. On two separate occasions, both my girl and I had our gel extensions pop off within a day or two. The staff is nice enough that we kept giving it another chance, but the nail techs seemed distracted while working and even came off rude when I asked for a correction. I always look forward to my nail time with Mimi at Gloss Nail Spa on Sunset Blvd. Mimi is truly gifted and excellent at what she does! I often go there with an idea of what designs I think I want on my nails and she builds my ideas into reality. Furthermore, all the staff at Gloss Nails are very nice and everyone works together extremely well. The establishment is well kept with a lively vibe. They even feed me snacks and drinks whenever I'm there. The only downside of the store is the parking situation, the lot is very small and it's not complimentary. But to be completely fair, for the quality of service I continue to get from Mimi throughout these years, the parking is a very minor issue. I am a fan of Gloss Nail Spa, and an even bigger fan of Mimi! If you are particularly keen on your hands and feet, and you are looking for someone who knows what they're doing, Mimi is your girl.
