I love the fact that you can make an appointment on the Fresha app or you can also call the salon. Their customer service is great, they truly care about you. I had been going here for a while and was overall fine with my results. They are really nice giving a drink and relaxing environment whenever I would go in. However I would have someone different every time I went in and never would even see the person again in there working on someone else. After going quite reliably for several months, I made reservations for a friend to come along and the issues started. They don't have enough staff here and I think have a lot of turnover as previously mentioned, I've never had the same person in my visits. Well, they didn't have someone for my friend despite us having an appointment. They started me and didn't start my friend until 45 minutes later. When they did, it was very rushed and we had booked a nice relaxing treatment. The whole situation was stressful and weird and it was my friend's first time EVER getting a pedicure. He now hates them and refuses to go try getting one again, lol. My friend wasn't apologized to or anything else for the mistake and unfortunately the poor handling of this situation was enough to cause me to switch salons. I was already on the edge as there are always parking issues here (the valet fills very fast and then it's impossible to find parking because many popular businesses share the lot) and the quality was very hit or miss with GelX because of the techs constantly being different. I found somewhere more reliable, with better work, better prices and reliable parking so I won't be going here again. read more

The only place in Koreatown where it meets my high standards and expectations of perfect simple single-colored gel manicure and pedicure. The gels last me three weeks plus (see photo for reference) and the finish is like glass. The technician I always request for is UKA and recently I was extremely pleased with MONICA and STAR. I'm going through the reviews of this location and to be honest I'm very confused as to how they have such high ratings. My experience here was horrible. Could be because I'm a person of color. I came in and had an appointment for mani and pedi, but as soon as I came in the person in charge I guess was very condescending and rude. I've been going to Red Polish for over a year now and I can honestly say it's such a great nail salon. Every visit has been a great experience-- the atmosphere is always calm, clean, and welcoming. The staff are always so sweet and the hygiene is always front of mind. They even offer you a drink while you're getting pampered! Uka is my go-to nail tech. She knows exactly what I like and consistently delivers great results. I show her an inspiration picture and she executes to near perfection all the time. She has great eye for design and colors that I never doubt whenever she suggests something to me. Uka also saved my nails and my cuticles as they were in a really bad state when I started going to her. 1 year later and my nails have been healthier than ever. I live near this nail shop, so thought I'd give it a try! I was going on a long trip and wanted to have decent nails before embarking on my travels. I love how I was able to make an appointment for the next day online -- this was super convenient and easy to do. When I arrived at my appointment time, it was fairly empty and I was seated right away. The lady who did my nails was efficient and did a fantastic job. They also have a fairly expansive color selection for gel nails, which I appreciated. They were playing The Wedding Planner movie on the TV and they also brought me sparkling water and candy, which I thought was a nice touch. I left with nails that I was happy with. I don't think the gel here lasts as long as some of the other places I've gotten my nails done, but they still remained in perfect condition for a little over a week. read more

I didn't fully know what I wanted but shared a few inspiration photos. She gave me space to collaborate on the concept in the shop without rushing me. Also, I had to leave before my nails were done for a commitment, so she flexibly made me a part 2 appointment for later that evening. She was thorough and props to her for dealing with my ingrown not a fan of the manicure. I've never had a dry manicure before. No soak before she just went right in. I have been coming for the past two years monthly to get my toes done. I've loved every service here and the nail techs are always nice. I even left a good review in the past in google. Was greeted by one of the nail techs nicely that I have seen before. I asked if I could get my gel x removed from my hands since some fell off and I got them done somewhere else. She said sure and for 20. I didn't mind since I know they do a good job. Seems like she was going to attend me and I was pleased because she had done my nails previously for a birthday I had. Then I guess they switched me to a different lady. I saw she didn't do the same treatment as the lady next to me getting a gel pedicure. She seemed like she was rushing and looking at the clock and her watch. Which made me uncomfortable because I felt like if I was holding her up. Then she tells me we don't have time to remove your gel x nails from hands. I saw other nail techs taking their time with other clients but I understand. When I went to go pay, she overcharged me. I confronted her and stated I've been charged a certain way all the time and she stated she thought I got my toes done somewhere else. I'm not sure if she was all confused because she was rushing. And still asked for tip. I didn't feel welcomed by her usually other nail techs there talk to you and are friendly. I felt like I didn't enjoy my pedicure since I know they put hot towels and a leave on purple cream on the legs. This lady who attended me I haven't seen her before and it was my first time with her. It's...fine. They'll text you and ask to move your appointment earlier ALL THE TIME, but God forbid they give you a heads up when they're running late. (Can you tell I've been waiting for nearly half an hour for my appointment? I always rearrange my schedule for them, but they can't extend the same courtesy?) They do a mediocre job (lifting Gel X, cut cuticles, spa pedicures that don't include all the perks, etc.). The price is right so it's fine in a pinch, but there are WAY better places to patronize if you're looking for a great experience. Have been visiting on and off for five years but would only recommend for emergencies. ETA: Bumping down to a 2 star - after over 30 minutes of waiting, they laughed when I explained that I no longer had enough time to get a gel manicure. I'm so sad to be posting this review because in the past two years, I've loved this place. However, yesterday I came in to get my nails done as usual. And my total came up to $300. I got a gel pedi and gel x extensions with a design and gems. For context, I have pretty long natural nails and typically get regular gel color and I've done designs before too. This time around. I wanted to do something a little more dramatic to match my outfit this weekend. I broke one nail which I could've gotten extended but opted for extensions. Cool. This is pertinent because if I'd known the price ahead of time for the gems alone, I might've kept my length and still played around with the design. But I didn't get a CHOICE. And that's what's upsetting me the most here. My biggest issue is that not only we're my concerns during the service dismissed, but just not addressed. I feel very uncomfortable having to fight through getting my opinion heard when I'm pampering myself, because why, I'm paying!? Also, my nail tech was running behind when I got there and ran behind for their next client. No big deal right ? Except I'm pretty certain my dramatic up charge was influenced by this. I won't mention their name because what I'm about to describe has happened with someone else and I've never made a fuss about it, but I realize this is an establishment issue. And I don't even know if I want to come back. The person who does my pedicure always uses a polish color (Motive, I believe) that has an up charge of $10. I've not once told this person to use this brand, what bothers me is that there's no consenting, not the $10 -- they never ask if I'm ok with that. Like fine I always pay it no big deal but this time, the difference was $90. I asked for gems on my nails and rather than being notified that the up charge would be $90 she just did it. Because $50 cool but $90 feels excessive. I've gotten gems before but never paid this much, specially for the small ones. And fine, I'll pay your price for services, I won't debate if it's the right amount or not, but if the gems cost as much or more than my service, why isn't there a conversation about it, specially when I emphasized I typically get regular gel polish. but $90 is just as much as getting gel x extensions -- that's something we should've discussed in the process and now I'm sooo uncomfortable. When I go to pay, the gentleman says these gems are expensive and says my services are $250. I don't debate him I pay and tip well. But I've been sitting with this and it feels soooo uncomfortable that they just assumed I'm pulling up with $300. (I tipped $50.) I was able to afford it, but the lack of communication, someone not listening to me and making me feel guilty for the time THEY were taking with me, feels very shitty. Like why are my butterfly wings matted after I expressed I wanted shiny. I was reassured that in the end it'll look like I wanted. Tbh, it's clear that what I wanted is layered: color was sealed matte and wings were drawn on top! Not Matte. That's why my art doesn't pop in the same way. Like I asked for her evaluation and it's like this push to charge you the most and not even talk it through with you. I shouldn't be baffled at my price at the register. Even if I can afford it. It feels gross and inconsiderate. And after two years, this continuous experience has left such a sour taste in my mouth. To be clear, the principle is what matters most. read more
