What a lovely neighborhood salon in the heart of Los Feliz! The ladies have been working there for a long time and you can tell. They have such great energy and take pride in their work (as they should!). I had Tang and Sandy take care of me, and they were amazing. This was one of the most wonderful nail salon experiences I've had in a long time. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure, first I'd like address how lovely the staff were, I've never felt so welcome. I'm usually pretty fussy with how my gel is executed, I do not like when it's too thick, comes of the nail bed, too much room is left at the cuticle line- okay yes, I'm annoying, BUT I didn't have to correct these guys at all, I asked them to fix one small thing about the polish that extended over my nail bed, (this happens a lot as my nails are extremely short) she new exactly what I meant and fixed it, she then checked every other nail and perfected everything. I just finished my first visit here. It is very conveniently located across from Albertsons on Hillhurst. I had a great pedicure and tried dip powder nails for the first time. Thanh Kim did my nails and was super nice. My nails are naturally very thin and peel so I hope the dip will help them grow. She took her time and did a great job. The pedi + dip powder mani was $85. I've been coming to this salon consistently every month for the past six months for my gel mani/pedi fix. All the ladies here are lovely and make sure you get the service you need! My hands and feet always feel clean after each session, and I always feel well taken cared of. Tip: call in advance in case it gets busy since walk-ins are welcome (it def can get busy!). Always soooo gentle with me (I feel a little scared getting my nails done these days after a bad experience with a lot of bleeding at a salon on Melrose earlier this year...) - Tang (the owner at Fancy) always soaks my hands foe extra time and is extra gentle with me and eases my anxiety! This place is seriously lacking in customer service. I've come here several times and was treated so rudely today. I had an appointment for noon and I had to wait until 12:25 to even be seated. Right before they were finally about to start the pedicure, another woman walked in with a chipped nail and the technician left and started doing her nails at another station even though she walked in 20 mins after me and they were already running 30 mins late for my appointment. When I asked why this had happened they were extremely rude and all 3 ladies started yelling at me saying they are doing the best they can. I simply don't understand how making someone wait 40 mins after their appointment time is acceptable. And yelling at customers like that is so uncalled for. Stay away! read more

Chipped in less than 24 hours. What a waste! I got a regular manicure, and it looked great but it all chipped already.

I called on a Thursday afternoon at 1:30 to see if they could fit me in that afternoon for a mani/pedi -- They could take me at 3:00. After a ten minute wait, they started the pedicure... ten minutes into the pedicure I enquired to make certain that they knew that I was there for both a mani and a pedi. They indicated that they were. Period. Not a 'sorry' or any effort at an explanation, just a 'yes'. I then said why did you schedule the appointment if you knew that you couldn't do both? BLANK STARE! I have been around them enough to know that there is not a significant language barrier in that salon -- they knew exactly what I said to them and simply chose to ignore me. However, as soon as I made my statement there arose a cacophony of opinions and comments in Korean. I don't know what they said, but if it was nice, why not say it in english, like they would if it were the news or gossip going around the shop. I have literally gone to this salon off and on for more than 20 years. It is by far the closest to my home and I keep going back time after time. Each time I return things go well for four or five visits and then something happens again (the last time I decided to stop was because of a fungus I came into contact with due to their dirty instruments). The work is actually good -- unless you catch something from their filthy instruments -- but I like my time to be respected. I respected theirs by showing up at least five minutes early for every appointment. They didn't even offer a discount for doubling my time spent in the chair. Avoid this place if you can. This was my last trip -- and my last try. read more

The women working here are lovely. I have nothing bad to say on a human level. Unfortunately they could not get the color right, my nails chipped immediately, they forgot to put top coat on my feet and I had to come back to get my hands totally redone and they were still a bit messy. This a great little place, I would not exactly say it is a classic neighborhood nail salon wear all the locals and many repeat customers come in. Than worked on my nails she's so welcoming and kind she knew most of her customers by name so very gracious and friendly she will always make time for you even on a busy schedule and make you feel welcome, they really take care of their guests. I had an old powder nail dip on she had a difficult time removing which I tipped her extra for. I initially wanted a mirror pink finish however since they are a classic salon I just asked for a baby pink instead. They were so gracious to take out a brand new unboxed OPI collection with summer spring colors baby pink mauve and light yellows, I asked for a pointy oval tip and the result was even better than I thought and all for a great deal. I will be back again to try the other colors. Fancy nails do follow COVID guidelines as they space appointments apart to be sure not to crowd, space the seating apart, and mask up. I am super busy and sometimes go to whomever is available when I have the time, but over the years I realized over and over, if I want to look fabulous, this is the place to go! I always make the time to come here for an eyebrows wax if I have an important event, and get compliments on my eyes after. I came here for the the first time with a friend who had been coming here for years. And i just returned by myself for a second time and i love it. The place is super simple, nothing flashy. The first time i got a black gel polish manicure and added silver glitter. she took her time and made some jokes and i loved her. i was waiting for my friend when i was finished and noticed a little had gotten on my skin so i was just trying to pick it off a little, but she noticed me trying and fixed it for me. very aware of what's going on. the second time i got a mani/pedi and was shocked at how well she removed the gel with no scratching/damage to my nails. i love this place and its definitely going to be my regular. i have learned it's a little cheaper if you pay with cash. :) read more

I wanted to find a new neighborhood spot, but they ruined my nails and it's terrible. I just got a gel removal and manicure and they used the spinner device thing and literally drilled into all of my nails...my nails are incredibly thin and brittle now and literally are bumpy without any polish on...never experienced anything like this. Also the manicurist picked up probably 6 calls during my time there. My nails keep breaking and bleeding now and it's painful and ugly. If you go there don't let them do this again. It's always impossible to get in and when I finally made an appointment I asked for a gel removal and pedicure. When I showed up they said they didn't have time for the gel removal and then finally gave in and did it after I said I had made an appt for it. They removed the gel polish with the electronic buffer thing that's probably meant for acrylic nails and buffed too much making my nail way too thin.. The pedicure was good minus the polish. The polish needed another coat and it didn't last long. I won't be going back as it seemed like I was a hassle to them and they are just trying to just get as many people in vs spend the time to do a good job. Bad customer service in general. read more

Not the greatest service, I called earlier in the day and I asked how much a gel pedi was and they said $25. They sat me in an office chair and refused to put me in a high chair in case somebody came in for a gel mani and pedicure. The woman doing my toes was not gentle at all. As I was leaving she told me the cost was $43 I asked her that what was the actual cost for pedi and she had to think about it for a good minute and said $40 I asked what was the extra $3 for and she didn't really give me an answer. I went in to get a mani and a pedi. I noticed immediately that they do not use sanitary equipment! Their polish selections are extremely limited and their staff only speaks Vietnamese which creates a difficult language barrier. My friend later told me she got a fungal infection in her toe from this place. The pedi I got was underwhelming. She dug into my big toe and made one of them become inflamed. I had dip powder on my nails that I needed removed but they didn't use the foil like most salons...I sat there with my fingers soaking in acetone for 30 minutes and got the gooey dip all over my fingers when it started melting off. Then she used an electric nail file and slipped, fully breaking one of my nails off. No apology, no discount, nothing. Then she cut my other nails and filed them SO short and made them SO thin that I broke THREE nails that day after I left. I could barely tie my shoes without them hurting. I had to go to my regular manicure place the next day to get them fixed and pay another $60. So disappointed. I was really hoping this place would be great as it's local for me. L-O-V-E the iPhone Yelp app! I wanted to get my nails done and hadn't had time.. So, after brunch I typed in nail salon and Fancy Nails came up. This place is clean and the staff are welcoming . The gal that worked on my nails did such a good job. The polish held up for a while.. I failed to mention they have a decent selection of OPI polish. Anyhoo.. I almost ended up in the ER. I know, I know. Going to a nail salon for underarm waxing is probably not the smartest thing, but I have never had a problem before. The wax was too hot. I told her that it felt really hot and that i didnt like it. She said ok, and waited a little before applying again, which usually works, but it was WAY TOO HOT! Not only was it the wrong wax, but it pulled my skin off with it. I kept telling her to stop and she argued with me about the hair not being long enough. It definately was! This is not my first rodeo. I had to literally get up off the table with burning underarms for her to stop trying to wax me. It was aweful. Thankfully I was not getting my face or bikini waxed. For the record I would never go to a nail salon for a bikini wax. I was in so much pain in the car when I left that I could not stop crying. I felt mutilated. I went back to work and looked in the mirror at the state on my underarms and started to cry again. I had to use burn cream and iced myself for hours. I am now getting laser hair removal in glendale, and its amazing! read more

I've had a cast on my leg for the last 71/2 weeks and was officially ok-ed to take it off on Wednesday, so today I took the day off, where my only goal was to pamper myself rotten, especially in regards to my feet and legs. I dropped off a pair of jeans to be hemmed at Golden Needle, just up the block (review to come) and while passing by Fancy Nails, I noticed they were empty so I stopped to see if I could 'drop in' for a mani-pedi. They set up the chair right away, including the most relaxing massage feature preset for 30 mins. Ahhh... Most everything else about my mani-pedi was standard. I do agree that the polish color selection is minimal and the NO CREDIT CARDS is a hassle, but they did accept my check, which saved me an ATM fee. read more

The high stars and greats reviews of this place left me hopeful of finding my new go to nail salon. Sadly, was I disappointed. My first few steps into the store were felt eerie. There was dead silence yet all the manicure stations were filled. I had to move my car (you cannot park at that Yucca lot, metered street parking only). I should have just left then. To cut to the chase, this place is pricey (32 mani pedi) with a mediocre job. The massage was meh, the top coat used on my hands did nothing (my finger nail started chipping that day and by day 3 was half gone) but the top coat on my toes was fine, so it guess is depends who you get. This isn't a place you want to go for a relaxing or worth while experience. Yes, you have somewhat of a "view" of the observatory, but no music is played and all you listen to is the jibber jabber or the manicurist gossiping. They make no effort to be friendly with you. Susan is a life saver! Not only have I tried every nail salon in the area and hands down this is the best, but she warranties her work. If you break a nail, go back in. I broke 2 nails and went in on 2 separate occasions and she didnt charge me. The salon is clean, the cleanest I've seen and PARKING IS EASY!!!! I have replaced Gloss on Sunset with Fancy Nails! Update: I came back for a gel manicure and pedicure. I had an appointment (I knew better this time) and they promptly sat me in one of the nice huge massage chairs and got to work. Two nice ladies worked on me and had me finished in under an hour (though I noticed they were extremely meticulous with their work) at a very affordable price. The gel mani was awesome.. Seriously flawless for a good 3 weeks. (See attached photo) That's a huge deal for me.. I work with my hands and my gel manis usually always chip before I reach the 2 week mark. And my pedicure? I'm now 4 weeks out from my appointment and it still looks fresh with zero chips. Thanks ladies! read more

Gel manicure only lasted one day, it should last for 2 weeks. I really want to love this place, these women were so nice. They salon is clean and bright and I will maybe return to try the well-reviewed waxing they do. But the manicure, the gel manicure that I paid extra for, did not last. The only thing I can think is they accidentally used non-gel. I am sure they would fix it, but I didn't have time that week. Also they asked me a lot of personal questions about my wedding ring, my engagement ring and my marriage. Typical at a nail salon but still awkward. read more

I've been to many nail salons in my life but this is by far the WORST. Only go if you don't mind being ridiculed and insulted for a half assed manicure job. First off their polish selections were very limited and the ladies just won't stop talking in Vietnamese. Everything was not great but ok until I've asked to use a different color since the second layer seemed a little too washed off than I imagined. As soon as I asked her for a different layer, she shoved my hand, gave me "tsk" and moved onto a different customer. So the lady who did my pedicure ended up finishing my manicure. Also while I was there, another customer who stopped by and said "Look I got these done a few days ago and these bubbles are starting to appear. I'm busy today but I'm coming back." then left. Another customer who seems like one of their regulars came in. She was very old, used her walkers to come in and I don't know if she can't hear it or seemed to ignore the whole situation but the employees were laughing at her while she took her time to sit down.
