This place gets it's business through word of mouth. They don't have an IG to market their services or a website. They've been open for more than 10+ years now, not sure when they first opened, but I remember going when I was in 5th grade and I'm 24 now. Every now and then I splurge at high end salons and find myself coming back to this place, making the drive from LA to LB just to get a $10 haircut and $60 highlights. There's several Cambodian ladies who are really nice and have regular clientele mostly from families who come for cheap and fast services and who can handle cutting their baby boy's hair who is crying non-stop. There aren't many photos to see their work as I said re: lack of instagram/website and their clients love to come in and out. IF YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT BE PREPARED TO WAIT. As I said, lots of regular clients come here and these ladies take the next person without breaks. They always answer the phone and have bluetooth headsets on taking appointments thru phone everytime. I like to think of them as a drive thru of a salon with how many people they take after another. To accomodate all walk-ins and appointments sometimes people wait 15-30minutes past their appointment time. I wouldn't advise coming here knowing you have to make it somewhere 2 hours later. You're paying for cheap services yes and they do their best getting to everyone considering how small of a business they are. How quality of a haircut or color you want depends on the stylist which as I've said through word of mouth I've learned MARLENE, MELISSA, and DAVY are wonderful with highlights/ombre/full head color. Like any salon, if you don't know what you want or ask the questions you want you will not like your outcome. These ladies understand people's requests and sometimes you have to be persistent when it comes to clarifications like any salon. They post their licenses on the wall and are transparent about what they will do to your hair by steps and how much each costs. My requests have been anywhere from a blunt straight cut to low layers. I have not asked for drastic hair cuts from long to short or hair color transformations from black to blonde. THOSE I SUGGEST BUILDING A RAPPORT WITH THE STYLIST TO HEAR IF YOU LIKE WHAT THEY CAN DO, BUT IF U WANT A DRASTIC CHANGE THE FIRST APPOINTMENT THEN RESEARCH OTHER BUSINESSES. They might cut good on average straight hair but if you have curly hair that's where they don't know..they combed out my curls making my hair puffy and then started cutting without parting my hair. I've been a regular customer here for about 5 years now. I come here to have a hair cut for only $8 for men . I just tell them "one" on the sides and just a trim on top and they already know what kind of hair cut that I want. I don't really have particular request whose gonna make my hair cut because all of them are great and very expert in their profession. When I enter the shop I just sign in to the log book and wait for the next hair stylist available. My hair cut doesn't take that long. It takes only 5 to 10 minutes usually for men. When they are done I've always been satisfied with the finish results. They are accurate and gives you flawless celebrity look . In return I just give them a good tip generously. I went to Fancy Cuts on a Saturday morning around 10:15 am. After waiting about 15 minutes I was called and seated on the first chair to the left. I showed the hair stylist a picture of how I wanted my hair (picture on the left). The picture on the right is how she left my hair from the back. I did not notice until after I left the salon and my mom saw my haircut and took a picture for me. The lady did not show me how the back looked, I only saw the front and the front looked fine to me which is why I did not even think of asking to see the back. Horrible service!!!!! lady charged me $155 for my hair that she didn't even do correctly and left my hair burned and dead then disrespected me when i said i didn't like it. I can't give this place less than a three because they are actually pretty decent. At least, decent in CUTTING hair. I used to always go here for my $10 cut. The people who work here are asian ladies who actually did an OK job with CUTTING my hair. (Stressing only CUTTING hair now twice). Layers? OK Bangs? Sure Color? Never Again. I asked for highlights, and I got tiger stripes! :-/ Eyebrow Waxing? Never Again. When I got my first eyebrow waxing here in high school, my eyebrows looked like two thin stretched out "^" signs, GROSS! If it's a normal cut you're looking for, they do an OK job. If you want something a little more out there such as the Victoria Beckham cut, or a more drastic one like a Rihanna cut, I'd probably go somewhere else. They also do up-dos pretty well for pretty cheap, just make sure you know what you want them to do. They do try to make small talk with you, but many times you'll find them chatting with each other in an asian language, I don't quite know which one. I have come here for a while. I get my hair cut by Melissa, she does a great job, but today I had a 12 non appointment. I came in and she was finishing up, so I thought. At about 10 minutes after she said she was running behind. She asked if I could come back at 12 45 PM. So I said sure. I left and came back, no parking, the parking lot is awful. I parked across the street in the Food 4 Less parking and made it across the busy street. I walked in and didn't see Melissa. One of the ladies called her name. I've been going to this place for about 5 years now and I still love it. My whole family goes here, too. Their prices are very affordable, and always does a great job taking care of my hair. I always go to Malen. The other girls however are very sweet and good at their craft, too. I always see happy customers walking out of this salon. They get really packed after lunch so I would highly suggest that you schedule an appointment or walk in early (like at 10 am, they open at 10) so they can squeeze you in. They're closed on Tuesdays. This place is great if you don't need a drastic cut, e.g, like going from a long to a short style. This place is best for people who just need a trim or need their hair reshaped. The prices are great: $10 for a cut and wax $6+. The reason I warn against getting a drastic cut here is because of my mom's experiences. Every time she tries going really short, her hair ends up shaped a little strangely to the point where she has to get it it fixed at another salon. Do not get your hair done here they might cut hair nicely but don't know nothing about dying hair there. DAISY is the one who did my hair i explained to her that i did not want highlights i wanted big stip of blonde or " money pieces" of course she FUCKED my hair up and claims thats what i wanted when i showed her many inspo pictures and says thats what she did to my hair. I recently dyed my hair a golden brown here on a whim and I really like the color. Initially the color was lightest at the root (my natural hair color is blac) which bothered me but with a couple of shampoos, the color is more even.With haircut with was $50.
