Came here for a Sunday evening, family dinner and this place never disappoints. I've been coming here for a few years now because it's one of my grandparents favorite place. The service is friendly and kind. They're very catering to everything that you need. The food is delicious and they start you off with a complementary pita dip. It is delicious. I had my birthday dinner here a few days ago, it is so great! The staff was so great and the manager cut up the cake my husband brought. I got the shrimp saganaki which was amazing with feta and tomato. And the sauce was great to dip pitas into, especially ially for my vegetarian husband. The shrimp was perfect cooked and plump! FGK is right around the corner from the Port Chester-Greenwich border in the center of Byram's downtown area. Right off the bat, the outdoor seating area screams to be occupied. My compadre and I decided to have a quick lunch before a road trip, and boy were we pleased! Chicken caesar salad and Grilled chicken wrap are to die for. The chicken was tasty and grilled to perfection. The Famous Greek Salad is the BEST one I've ever had by far. The service was attentive without being instructive. I was excited to be going for Greek food.  I spend a lot of time in Greece. But unfortunately the food was mediocre except the Baked Shrimp Saganaki. The lamb chops(Arnesia Paidaka) were rancid. After flagging down the waiter; he asked if we wanted to take the lamb to go and we told him, "No, it is spoiled" He comes back with a discount: ("$41.00 - $8.20: "customer did not eat, didn't like") seriously? Writing a Yelp review feels insignificant, but the most I can do to support FGK aside from dining there. Every meal I've had - takeout, dine-in, and delivery - has been incredible. Service is lovely. Shout out to David, the best one. Gyro and gyro platter is my go-to but tonight I tried the branzino and OMG was that the best fish I've ever had. Santorini has nothing on this fish. Buttery, melt in your mouth, lemony, oily, delicousness. 11/10. The appetizers are also very good. We loved the warm feta and fresh pita bread. Would highly recommend. The name of the restaurant raises expectations about the experience. The food mostly delivered, though the ambience did not. To start, we had the special salad, which consisted of heirloom tomatoes, mission figs, onions, and three kinds of cheeses. This was good, although I found the combination of the acidity from the tomatoes and the sweetness of the figs to be a somewhat odd flavor combination that really didn't jive. This appetizer came with toasted pita. The seafood saganaki was a hit. This was my first time trying saganaki, which apparently is named for the two-handled heavy-bottomed frying pan in which it is traditionally prepared. An ample entrée with mussels, shrimp, and scallops, as well as feta cheese and tomato sauce, was rich and flavorful. I ended up mopping the sauce and extra feta crumbles with the pita, savoring as much of it as possible. The restaurant's white décor of faux-fancy was, in my opinion, tacky, and really didn't align with the more laid back menu. The seats of the booth were uncomfortable--too shallow and close to the table--such that I couldn't lean back. Rather, I felt forcefully shoved in front of the food and too close to my dinner guests across from me. The stiff white furniture made the entire restaurant feel cold and staged, as if for the display of restaurant-goers, as opposed to being warmly encompassing. Service was friendly and the overall experience was pleasant. Not commonly found on the menus of Greek restaurants, the saganaki at Famous Greek Kitchen is highly worth trying! read more

I had the pleasure of eating at Famous Greek Kitchen on Wednesday night, from the second I walked in the staff went out of there way to make sure everything was perfect. We started off with a trio of hummus that was so tasty, a salad with beans from the special menu and the horiatiki salad both were delicious, I think they have a garden in the back....everything was so fresh and rich in color. Now for the dinners, the specials sounded superb but I opted for the halibut off the menu with the chili spice over this terrific rice......so tasty I wish I ate it slower to make it last. My wife ordered a salmon with feta and spinach wrapped in phyllo....yummy!! To sum it up.....I don't need to drive to Astoria for great Greek food!! I picked up dinner to go, which included a large Greek Salad. Its gorgeous but they forgot the dressing! Make sure you double check if you are doing take out. Cheap with the pita on the dip platter too. Really sad I spent $60, I feel cheated. read more

Very disappointed. We order from this restaurant frequently and have always been happy with the service and quality. This time, we ordered through Grub Hub and waited almost 2 hours for the delivery. On top of that, the order was incorrect and what was delivered was not the usual quality we've come to expect. The worst part was the attitude of the man with whom I spoke...twice. Once to find out where the order was and the second to inform them of the incorrect item. Both times he was belligerent and argumentative. Very poor customer service. read more

If you go there at lunch and get a salad, after the tip, you'll be lucky to get out of there spending less than $30! They're situated in byram and most of their customers would likely be port Chester, but their priced as if they were in old Greenwich. I have ordered the gyro platter which is basically a few slices of gyro and then a side salad with home dressing that really isn't even homemade..I have been going to Lefteris in tarrytown for years and used to the REAL HOMEMADE salad dressing. The gyro meat was very dry. I ordered the spanakopita which is spinach pie for $9.95...low and behold I thought I was ordering homemade spinach pie..what I got was Costco spinach pie thst I have actually purchased before!!!! $10 for a few Costco spinach pies.. Preserved the riblet appetizer which was ok but they are $12.95....really really overpriced for what u get...also fries are all extra with any platter..not sure how a platter is just meat and salad.. In the end this place isn't really authentic Greek food, they have sprinkled a few Greek dishes with some store bought alternatives...way overpriced for what u get. I haven't eaten there but the few it,Es I have taken out just wouldn't make me feel comfortable going to spend over $100 for a dinner with the family there. The service was incredibly slow and the food is overpriced. The atmosphere is way too loud. I ordered stuffed risotto peppers. What I got was overcooked peppers with meat filling and rice sprinkled around here and there. There was no creamy risotto. Instead of just apologizing for the misleading menu description/incorrectly prepared dish, they defended themselves by explaining the the rice that was used was "risotto rice" that merely was prepared like rice typically is prepared. When I explained how the menu description was misleading, the waiter/manager turned to my girlfriend and said "Oh, he's a foodie." Just poorly handled overall. It's a shame because the food flavor wasn't half bad but the rest of the experience was sub par. It's a shame this is the only Greek restaurant in the Port Chester area. read more
