For those unfamiliar, FFS has a few tools at their disposal to help find the "right" shoe for you. This includes 3D foot scanning and gait analysis via video recording and slow motion playback. I was assisted by Jill who was very knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and efficient. I was super impressed with how a "history" was taken first (i.e. running background, injury and shoe history, current shoe wear pattern, etc.). Of course, the anthropometric data from the 3D scanning was interesting but I really feel as if I've developed an intuition for how it should be used to inform the shoe selection process from this experience as well. I also really liked being able to take part in the gait analysis. This is something I tried to do by myself in the past but nothing is quite as awkward or seemingly narcissistic as trying to take a slow motion video recording of your own legs at the gym. Yikes. To be clear, it's not simply the technologies themselves but rather the thoughtful integration of these technologies and data into the shoe selection process by highly adept staff and the sharing of this expertise that makes this place exceptional and pretty much inimitable.
