Then I got to the counter: the sticker shock was unreal. Nearly $200 for three items that were 1/2 way decent and on "sale." Not shopping here again - would do much better at Ann Taylor's.

Just don't expect anything on the scale of a Salvation Army or Savers where you can go crazy. That said, I stopped in recently and found a nice paisley shirt and an old suitcase. Unfortunately however, the paisley shirt was way too small and will never fit me and my girlfriend said she would move out if I brought home another ratty old suitcase. I ended up buying the paisley shirt anyway but decided to leave the suitcase behind. It was a big brown Samsonite, and I wanted it. But it wasn't the hill to die on. Either way, I will continue to check in from time to time as this place could definitely yield an excellent thrift store haul if you hit it on the right day.

Today, I dropped off a small donation, and decided to look around as usual. There were two people outside the store looking over two bins of books, really nice ones, some classics. We had a nice discussion about authors, books we've read. One customer was helping another, and suggested to one employee that she could price them per box. So she stated that they go for a dollar ea. Okay, but then she changed her mind and offered $10 for two big bins instead. Ok, so the other customer said she was glad to donate them & take the $10. She didn't want to throw them out. Another customer began picking out rejected books from the garbage bin. The employee was really annoyed and stated that we are not allowed to take things out of the garbage bin. Really???? So you're going to fill up the landfill with things that could be reused. I entered the store, and this employee was arguing very loudly with the one customer who was helping the other one. The customer did not raise a voice - the rest of us looked at each other, it was embarrassing. That employee should have handled it better. Calmly repeat your store policy, or say that you cannot accept a donation for whatever reason, nicely, politely. That you take in donations and price them for sale. She was so unpleasant, I felt sorry for the customer and the rest of us. Perhaps your little store is too crowded? Think of donating books to a Veterans organization. Be polite! There is no reason to be nasty just because you are feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, perhaps not enough help in the shop. It was very uncomfortable, so I walked out.

There are amazing finds that I have not seen anywhere else - there are wonderful one-of-a-kind pieces that I have not seen anywhere else- there are 80s sweaters and dresses and jackets you can wear every day and don't need an office or a party to go to. I personally love sequins and just finding and owning special pieces (and the prices here aren't nuts) but spring is coming and with vaccines will come seeing more people so I'll be able to look great- which will be especially nice since basically no one has seen me other than zoom for year. It's my last day here and I wanted to check it out before I left because I heard they have really cool old school toys (which I collect), cool clothes, and bras in my size! I waited until they were open but no one was there so I decided to walk around and come back a little later. Upon entering I was not greeted. Not a big deal though because I can be pretty shy and wanted to browse around. I soon felt uncomfortable; like I wasn't welcome but I brushed it off. It's a feeling POC unfortunately often feel when they're shopping in unfamiliar areas or shops. I wanted to give the woman at the register the benefit of the doubt. I found a cool harmonica that I wanted to gift my boyfriend but was being indecisive about what else to get I remembered the bras! I went to check them out and then I stumbled upon the sale section and that's when the woman at the register basically ran up on me. She said to let her know if I needed help with anything. It was completely bizarre because it was clear she came over just to see what I was doing. There were a few other people in there and she passed by them and didn't ask them if they needed anything. It was so clear in my mind that she thought I was trying to steal that dumb ass harmonica or anything from that janky store. The bras were overpriced, the clothes were honestly hideous and not for anyone under the age of 40. The toys and books were ok but nothing really jumped out at me. Except this woman. It was a very uncomfortable experience and when I went to pay for the items (yes I got the damn harmonicas) she gave me full on attitude. No smile, very condescending "you're welcome" after I thanked her. Just all around bad attitude as if she was the one being followed. I would beware if you are a POC. I didn't get the woman's name but she was probably a SWF, pudgy and had dark hair.
