I hadn't been to an Ollie's since I was in Nashville nearly two summers ago. This store has plenty of parking. I had no problem pulling into a spot fairly close to the entrance and walking in. You can score some cool deals here. It depends on what you are looking for and need. I was here before Easter. There was some good deals on candy and chocolate. I'm sure that it would have been even cheaper after the holiday. I spent a lot of time in the housewares sections. Reusable straws. Frying pans. Tongs. Silicone cookie cutters. Pretty much everything was there. The quality is decent for what you are paying for. I liked some of the quirky items like Yummy Can Bacon where you can cook bacon strips in your microwave. I also liked an LED soap dispenser to make washing your hands more enjoyable. You can save a lot on food. Cereal was cheap with brands like General Mills. I saw a lot of canned items, such as soup and peas. There was a spill in an aisle. A female staffer was sweeping a powdered detergent mess. It did smell nice as I walked by it. Staff are everywhere, but they left shoppers alone. Nice! The book section was cool. Phone accessories were next to it. It was cool seeing wireless chargers and phone mounts for your car. I will always have a soft spot for steering wheel covers at Ollie's. I got one at an Ollie's in Nashville and still use it. It was nice seeing a variety of them at this store. If you are on a budget and like deals on pretty much everything under the sun, you want to come here. It's best to sign up for a free Ollie's Army account. You can get digital coupons and save a bit more. I enjoyed shopping here. I got my fix before I headed home. I hope to drop by again when I'm in the area. (156)

When everyone was standing 6ft apart esiting to go I to other stores along Military Rd, I walked right into Big Lots. The only people there were the employees. It was a breath of fresh air. As an essential healthcare worker, I have struggled to find necessities in the last few weeks and the last thing I want to do is stand in a line not knowing if the things I need will be there. However, each time I've walked into Big Lots I'm able to find toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies and a few healthy snacks for my lunch. I am in and out of the store in no time. It's like a hidden secret and I am grateful. One teeny tiny complaint is that in their efforts to abide by social distancing they have corralled the shopping carts so that they create a barrier at the door making the exit only an exit and the same for the entrance. But in doing so, there weren't many carts in the store. It was a little annoying but overall it was still a smooth shopping experience.

I've gotten hand sanitizer, Christmas lights, coffee and many other things for free just by showing my rewards card at the register. I also think Big Lots has good prices and a different selection on food. Their spices are a really good price and some spices come in large containers which works better for me than the tiny ones. They have good practices during this COVID-19 time with everyone wearing masks and distances marked off at checkout. That being said there are some negatives too. I do wish they had bicycle racks since I usually bike there and have to lock my bike to a seating area which isn't ideal. The wait time at checkout can be longer than what seems necessary. The store can be messy and the shelves not stocked well. The employees don't seem to have much useful information when you ask for help. But all in all it's a good store for some reasons....food and free coupons.

Well, a few things have changed since then. For one, goodie bags seem to be a thing of the past. As for the other...not everything is a dollar. It used to be simple, to slap down a dollar bill and be on your way with your ice cream sandwich or cheap pizza cutter. Maybe you'd have to dig around for a coin if you were getting a drink, for the bottle deposit, but you could roam the aisles without having to search for price tags. Inflation, we hate you. Though I have to admit, the measly 25 cent markup on some things doesn't eat at me too much. I can still get reasonably priced cleaning supplies (buy LA Totally Awesome, it lives up to the name), razors and fun socks without worrying about if I'll have money left over to get a packet of tortillas for my eggs. I've bought them here a few times, grabbed off the back wall. I'd advise against adding their cheese to your wrap, as it won't melt, though at these prices, you can't expect them all to be winners. Sure, it isn't as big as the location up the Boulevard, and the line tends to get long. Try to miss the after school crowd and let yourself uncover the deals. It's no grab bag, but I'm still finding surprises.

Yesterday I went to buy some perfume and was having a hard time finding the one I wanted. She should've asked if I needed help immediately and she should've WALKED me to the right spot and help me to find what I was looking for. Judy is one of my highlights of the day. Store Manager Ashely (my fam calls her boss lady) is always working and taking care of this and that. Store needs to have 3 cashiers and 2 people to help on floor, but For the most part I truly feel valued at this Dollar General. I most point out: Why is corporate okay with that poor women working everyday all day. I swear Ashely was there when my daughter and I were taking my grandkids to school and there still at 9:43pm (same day) (time on my receipt). I would give 10 stars if I could.

Until the recent panic shopping this was the place I would get a lot of my basics from. The one thing that I find frustrating is that this store doesn't sell anything for black hair. I once saw a bottle of activator spray marked down to clearance!!! Like, an old ass 1980's jerry curl spray. And they had the nerve to mark it down to $5. That's expensive as hell for a blast from the past. Who the hell still needs jerry curl spray anyway? It's 2020. Nobody is just sitting around trying to let their soul glow. But, I digress. The other day I went in and the cashier asked if I was a nurse and he made sure to give me my little discount. He told me he recognized me and knew I was a nurse. After having worked my 12th shift in a row (all because of covid19), I was exhausted, overwhelmed and sad. That quick moment of kindness and acknowledgement meant the world to me. That particular cashier is always pleasant and nice to me but that just made my day. It's a great store and I'll continue to be a loyal customer.

This has been true well before Covid. Either way I don't mind. I go on days when I have time. My issue is the staff is always quite short and rude. Very rarely is anyone pleasant. I'm not saying bow at my feet when I walk in but reciprocating a greeting and eye contact when being asked a question goes a long way. I ordered 136 vases and candle holders online for my wedding. I went to pick it up and the cashier was clearly annoyed as she was the only one available. I had no problem waiting. I understand the pressure to get the line down when you're the only one cashing people out. After a short wait another employee came up and was directed to get my order. She went to the back and brought it right up. Now having bought mass quantities before I know I have to present t ID and sign. The cashier was still busy and said I didn't have to sign. Ok, fine. I took the shopping cart and told them I would return it. I unloaded and brought it back in the store. When I came back in.
