I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the care my dog received at Fallbrook Animal Hospital. I brought my dog in specifically for a severe ear infection, which can be life-threatening if left untreated. Despite spending over $500 last week for a culture and what was supposed to be a thorough examination of his ear, the vet failed to properly examine the ear drum or provide an accurate diagnosis. This week, after the culture results came back, I was told my dog needs a topical antibiotic ointment for his ear infection. However, they admitted they don't know if his ear drum is ruptured because they never performed the proper exam last week--the very reason I brought him in. Now, they want me to pay an additional $55 for an exam they should have done initially. When I expressed that this was unacceptable, Tiffany, the manager, dismissively told me I could find another vet because I'm "not a good fit." This is complete medical and animal negligence. My dog remains in excruciating pain with no effective treatment, and the clinic is refusing to complete the necessary examination or provide care. This level of neglect is unacceptable and dangerous. Ear infections caused by rod-shaped bacteria (RODS) can be fatal without proper treatment. As a pet owner in California, I know I have the right to competent veterinary care, clear communication about my pet's condition and treatment, and the ability to seek a second opinion if I believe the care is inadequate. I also have the right to file a complaint with the California Veterinary Medical Board if I suspect negligence or malpractice. I urge the owner of Fallbrook Animal Hospital to take this seriously. Denying care and dismissing concerned pet owners not only harms animals but also exposes the clinic to legal consequences. I hope this review encourages others to carefully consider their options before trusting their pets to this hospital. I will be taking action. read more

Today was my fifth visit and I brought both of my miscreants who at first weren't so happy to be there. In any event, the vet techs are ALL beyond friendly and helpful. You can tell that while this might be their job, they love all the lil fur babies that enter. Have always had excellent care and will continue to put my kids into their care!!! read more

Stay away from this practice. We have been going to Fallbrook Animal Hospital for almost 3 years ever since we moved to Fallbrook. It used to very good but all good doctors and staff left this place. The new staff is very rude and will order all kinds of tests and X-rays that is unnecessary. We have been feeling the decline in service ever since the staff changed but today's experience was horrible. We have a 15 year old blind and deaf dog in his last stages. He has some food allergy and today when he woke up one of his eyes were swollen and red. We ran out of the eye drops and made an appointment to have him checked. We got there around 9:15 and no other customers was there. The place was empty other than the staff. They immediately put us in the room and one tech came to check his vitals and he was nice. He is one of the old staff. After that we were in the room with a dog who just want to get out of that place for over 45 minutes before the doctor came. She said she is the sub for the day. She looked at his eyes and said we need to do eye pressure test to make sure how bad is his dry eye problem and left. Later another lady came in with about $800 worth of lab tests, x-rays and other charges. We asked if the doctor checked his previous records and the response was they had to do all these tests to prescribe the medication. I told her that we wanted to get the same drops that were prescribed before and they said they don't have any records about his eye issue. When I told her that if it is a dry eye problem then it should be there always. She got upset told us to take your dog somewhere else and left the room slamming the door. When I asked the front desk lady to give us our dogs records and she asked us to sign some papers saying that they offered service and we denied service. When we told them that we are not signing any papers she said that they will call the animal control that the dog is suffering and you are not giving him treatment. When we told them that we do not want unnecessary tests and X-rays for a 15 year old dog and wanted to make him comfortable. We told them that since many of the customers left they are trying to maximize from us. Immediately they told us to get out of the property and told us we are trespassing their property. Stay away from this business. Since I complained these people called animal control on me with some lies that they saw fleas jumping on my dog and his teeth is bad. I don't know what kind of a doctor they got, she said the dry skin on my dog is flea poop and want to clean the teeth of a 15 year old dog and put him under anesthesia. read more

Today I took our dog for eye infection issue. T hey wanted x-Ray taken and whole bunch of unnecessary and unwanted test to be done. When I questioned the need for these additional test the young lady slammed the examination room and left. I came to front desk to complain and the front office asked me leave saying I am trespass passing. So I left. What a rude and unprofessional office and Hospital. They are trying to bill you for unnecessary test and medication. One estimate she showed me was for $100 for medication wthout mentioning what it is for. The "tech" Ashley hit us with a surprise line item for a "physical exam" that wasn't on the 500 dollar quote for a teeth cleaning and when we asked her about it, she immediately met us with an attitude and had the nice front desk lady call the cops on us when I didn't back down. We switched to Dr. Laughbach because our normal vet office lied about surgery. We lost faith in them and looked for someone that was a very honest surgeon. We found it here. Our dog was done and is healing so great so fast. The swelling was very minimal and was off pain meds fairly soon. We are super appreciative of his experience and that of the staff as well. Denise was handling multiple things and once like an expert. We are very grateful that took a leap of faith based off our gut feeling about this Doctor. When taking our 20 year old Chihuahua in for euthanasia, we chose the only vet with a quick opening due to her suffering. The LAST worry my husband I needed needed was an inconsiderate staff member up close in everyone's space not wearing a mask and joking about the fact with other patrons. There were no words of comfort or kindness from staff reg our dog, not a word, I'm a big girl, but that seemed odd. Unprofessional is what it was......it was an uncomfortable last goodbye with our beloved dog. Doctors are very skilled, caring and very professional. Denise, the receptionist is truly a gem. No nonsense, very businesslike but still does care a lot. Takes care of people and their animals very efficiently. Took our dog elsewhere for ($400) and were told that she needed to see an orthopedic surgeon for her broken rear leg and that it would cost over 4,000 dollars. A week later, When we brought her to Dr. Laubach, (for 200) he took x-rays, prescribed medication, and told us that it was already healing on its own and there was no need for surgery, cast or anything except to keep her quiet and let it continue to heal on its own. Will recommend them to everyone as a sensible, excellent, caring , intelligent, great place to take a pet. read more

I can't say enough good things about the staff at Fallbrook Animal Hospial. They all made our experience a good one. They were all so compassionate and very understanding when we had to say goodbye to our 18 year old little dog. When we welcomed a new dog into our home from AFOV (another wonderful place) we brought her here for her first exam and vaccinations. So a few days later we had to take her in for foxtails in her ear which required her to be put under for the delicate removal of the foxtails. Again my husband and I were very impressed with personal service we received. And for all of this wonderfulness, the cost was very reasonable! With multiple pets at home, I've had many opportunities over the years to visit several of our local veterinary hospitals. Fallbrook Animal Hospital is my favorite. Dr. Laubach is an excellent surgeon whose skills saved my cat after he had been misdiagnosed and treated unsuccessfully by a different vet. Dr. King is very knowledgeable and obviously cares about the animals and pet owners she works with. She's the kind of person you can ask questions of and expect a good answer. Denise, who is in charge of the front office, is well organized. She has a wonderful sense of humor, as well as a remarkable ability to maintain her cool and offer good advice even when confronted by the occasional emotional and irrational pet parent. I am so tired of our growing cancel culture, in which businesses like this one are publicly demoralized with unearned 1 star reviews. Look at the reviews complaining about someone not wearing a mask. One such reviewer (1 star) was very pleased with her pet's treatment by Dr. King, but couldn't find her way to the 3 or 4 stars. Really?!! And then there's the one star pet owner who awarded that single star because Dr. Laubach wasn't available for a personal consultation. Was he preparing for another surgery? Did you have unanswered questions? What were the results of your pet's surgery? Isn't that more important? I'm disappointed to see that the business rating system many people use has become so unreliable. I'll pay more attention to the ratings when I shop in town, and perhaps I can diminish the effects of the irrational reviews with one of my own. read more

We came here at 12:30 bc this is the closest hospital and our neighbors cat was hit by a car. and the front desk person was saying the vet isn't in. This is a animal hospital where could they be? Then the vet comes, glances at the cat and tells us the cat is dead, there is nothing they can do and the staff offers us no help or empathy. When asking about options he says "you can leave him but we will charge you." Ok, I understand this is a business but some empathy will get you a long way, I know things cost money at the vet but his approach was rude. This is the absolute worse vet I have ever visited. Then they started to complain that they were gonna close... in 30 min. Yes i see you close soon at 1, you still have 30 min to do your job. While they were complaining about closing someone walks in with their pet and they tell them oh hey wait one moment. Which makes no sense to me. It's unfortunate as there are not many options in town. Hopefully the staff got to enjoy their weekend since they were so inconvenienced to get customers. While traveling in our RV, our beloved dog Gracie became acutely ill and needed urgent veterinary attention. After calling several vet clinics who wouldn't see her for several days, the staff at Fallbrook Animal Hospital graciously accepted us, advising us to come in immediately. There were no hidden fees or upcharges for being a walk-in-- sadly, I have seen that elsewhere. Despite having a totally full lobby, the clinic ran swiftly and smoothly and we were in, treated, and discharged in an hour. Denise, Sterling, Ubie, and Dr. King all took great care of us and I could really sense the cohesiveness of their team. The best ever!!! I was recommended to Fallbrook by a friend who was a long time client of theirs. Even though it is a bit out of the way I decided my dog needed the best care. I took her in to have a dental check. They determined she needed 16 teeth pulled! This was my second opinion. The first vet said ALL teeth needed to come out. Couldn't get in with my bulldog specialist vet because she's been overbooked and understaffed since COVID hit. My frenchie needed a cytopoint injection and antibiotics for her chronic atopic dermatitis and secondary skin infection. When I first called this place (simply because it's the closest to home), the receptionist had an attitude but I booked an appointment just to get my beloved frenchie some relief (apparently many vets are booked up at this time). Showed up 15minutes early and my initial impression was uncomfortable because the receptionist (the same rude person I booked the appointment with) was not wearing a mask. Sat for 15 minutes without her acknowledging our presence, finally she asked me to fill out paperwork and I sat waiting another 15 minutes. Then she asked me to follow her and continued to tell me the procedure is my baby would be taken to see the vet without me and he would not be talking directly to me, rather we would communicate through the vet tech....WHAT ??? I understand if they are following a COVID procedure, however they obviously are not as she didn't wear a mask and various people came in and out of the office some with and some without masks (totally inappropriate). When I asked if I could at least talk on the phone to the vet, as all other vets are doing following COVID protocol, she responded "no he doesn't speak directly to clients , only through the vet tech"....WTF?!?! And then she copped her lousy attitude again by saying "the techs are perfectly capable of talking to you through the vet"....UMMMM, NO! You pay professional fees to COMMUNICATE TO THE SPECIALIST!!! I quickly told her we will look for a professsional elsewhere and left. I should have trusted my initial feeling when calling to make an appointment...MY RECOMMENDATION IS DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL VETERINARIAN and is ignorant staff! I have a hard time recommending this place because of the receptionist. I was charged $80 to get a few foxtails removed from my dog's ear. I didn't appreciate the price tag, but I rationalized it and moved on. However when I called to ask a follow up question when I was concerned that he had an ear infection I felt that the receptionist was rude. I wasn't sure if my question made it to the vet at all or if the receptionist was just telling me whatever she thought. Life is too short to deal with people like that.
