Enjoyed floating the river the other day! Was super hot and nice out. Company was great to work with, everyone here was super friendly and very helpful. Driver shuttle dude was nice & had a smooth ride. Very easy to understand instructions. Had tubes, life jackets, paddles, frisbees, water bag, whistles, cooler tubes, and much more to rent. Had port-a potty's that of course nobody likes haha! But other than that, very easy and smooth check in & check out. Tons of parking. Easy river run! Don't bring flip flops or sandals.. always strap ons or water shoes. I brought my own tube & just took the shuttle ride up. Rapids were fun & not scary. About 1 or 2 times you need to get up to walk your tube to avoid some rapids you could get caught in but wasn't bad at all. Definitely will be back!

Unlike other reviews I didn't think this River float was dangerous. However we did do this float at the end of July so that may have been why. My two friends and I are newbies and it was the first time doing a float for all of us. So as 3 inexperienced people we didn't think it was dangerous. The biggest downfall of this experience was waiting for life jackets. Our reservation was for 1:40 and we arrived early, but still had to wait over an hour for life jackets. Once we received that we waited less than 5min for the van to take us to the river. We didn't start our float till around 2:45. On the float there was a section where we were advised by the staff to get out and walk on the rocks. This was the most difficult and annoying part! The rocks are super slippery and managing that along with the float can be a bit difficult. Overall with the price we thought this experience was worth it but I would prepare to have to wait despite coming early for your reservation

*went in summer 2020* Very well-organized. We got to the parking lot about 45 minutes before our scheduled session, grabbed our tubes and life jackets. They had shuttles that took us to the top of the river and then we floated down the river over the next two hours. It was a really fun event for a hot summer day, to just chill on the river with a drink or two. I wish we had known that there were no paddles provided (some people had frisbees but we didn't get any), so in order to propel ourselves we used our old navy flip flops... nevertheless it was a fun experience. The entire floating time was about 2-2.5 hours, it was quite a workout! We got out of the river and then magically we were back at the parking lot.

We went the last weekend in June with three kids ages 7-10 and four adults. Half a mile before the bridge at the end, we pulled over to the left and had lunch on a shallow rocky area. It took about an hour to get down there. Across the river was two wooden stumps. A group of six ladies that were tied together came by and got stuck. Three were thrown off their tubes when their rope got stuck on the stump. Two floated down and swam to other people in their group. One girl was stuck on the stump on her tube with another one holding on to her friend who did not have a life jacket on. She was not able to get up on her friends tube. They were stuck there for a while. I called 911. For some reason the woman in the water didn't want to let go. When the emergency "river" police rescue came, they told the woman on the tube to let go of her friend and the friend just floated away face down. They jumped in and got her. They gave her CPR and she recovered. We saw three other groups get stuck in the same spot. One of which was a family of four whose kid flew off and floated down the river while his family was stuck. Luckily he had a life jacket on. I have done this float three times in August and never saw anything like this. That spot needs to be marked. The water moves so quickly. Maybe floating shouldn't start this early in the year? I also want to warn everyone not to tie together in big groups because that is what caused the chaos. We had a solid time, but ending our trip witnessing all of that with our kids was traumatizing. The Fall City Tubing website is set up very poorly and set up. Make sure that you click on the shuttle plus rentals and then on the next page click how many tubes you need. If you don't do that, you have to buy tubes for everyone there.

There are usually people in floaties and on paddle boards enjoying the area. The view from the suspension bridge that connects the two sections of the park is stunning. So technically there is something for everyone, but not a lot of variety particularly for beginners. The views from the top of the resort (the expert terrain chair) are awesome - really impressed and could sit up there for hours if there was a place to rest but luckily you can enjoy most of the way up on the 2 person lift. As a heads up, if you have the IKON pass you need to make reservations on the IKON website in advance to ski. For weekends, this can mean at least a few days if not a week in advance (although spots can open up the day before). Also, while there is a shuttle between Alpental and the Summit you cannot ski between the two even though they share the same lift ticket. We signed up for the Alpental Mighties ski lessons which have been a mixed bag. Some of the instructors seem good, but some of the group sizes, particularly for blue-level skiers are out of control. For my 7 year old, she is in a group with 12 kids! Each week there is a new kid that has been dumped in the group that can't keep up which means the instructor spends 80% of her time with the one kid. I don't think that she can tell me anything about my kid (and that's after 4 weeks now). For my other kid, the learn to snowboard group is much more manageable although it is a different instructor every week. While I would have been more understanding given COVID, the organizer is completely unapologetic (and unresponsive) about the circumstances and claimed that lessons continued when the power went out for most of the afternoon (which was downright false since my kids were waiting to be picked up with the rest of their group when I made it down the mountain). Given COVID, there are limited services (food / indoor dining) so have not tried those and usually bring our own lunch and each by the car. Some of the more prepared come ready for a full tailgating experience which I admire.

Even when we went camping at Lake Easton State Park nearby, we tried to come visit the common area at the beach but every time we tried, this place was full and we could not even enter the campground. Lake Kachess has always been an unobtainable dream for us for years, partly because of my lack of planning as online reservation system is available for this site, although I am telling my kids that it is only because this place is so popular that we had not been able to check it out. So, for the past two years, we had been coming to Lake Kachess, getting rejected at the front gate, and still parking near the beach about 0.5 miles before reaching the front gate. We would go stand up paddle-boarding for a couple of hours and we would go to Lake Easton State Park to go to the bathroom and finish our day there. We loved paddle boarding in Lake Kachess so much that I promised my kids we will camp here someday. In this past summer in 2022, I was finally able to snag a reservation for 2 nights. Our camping spot was close to the non-motorized boat launch area. The campsite was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. It was also close to the vault toilets. We have traditionally and intentionally been camping at state parks for their toilet and shower facilities. However, we were aware that Lake Kachess campground was not part of the state park system and does not have nice toilets and showers. So, our expectation of the toilet facilities was expectedly low. Our challenge, however, was dealing with the waste management truck sucking or removing the waste from the vault toilets every morning around 0700. It was very loud and the resulting aroma seemed to have filled the entire Washington state. It was pretty awful but when my kids and I talked about it, we accepted it as part of this camping experience and being in the wilderness. We came here mostly for stand up paddle boarding so with every chance we got, we headed to the beach. We used the non-motorized boat launch area and it was wonderful. In the morning when there are no boats around in the lake, the water was crystal clear and we could see a lot of fish. It was absolutely beautiful. The green trees everywhere contrast really well with the blue sky and everything was serene and breathtaking. The water was cold but we still went into the water to escape the summer heat. It was refreshing and we felt like we became part of the beautiful scenery. Absolutely loved paddle boarding here.
