This one was in Leavenworth an it was a ok float Not as crazy as the one from last year on the yellow stone river. That one had clad 4 water coming up at me and my girlfriend ever time we hit the rapids, this one was only class 2 rapids . So there was some water splashing . I enjoyed the rock jumping . My wife and I rafted with River Riders earlier this summer. We were in the Leavenworth area and noticed all the rafters floating down the Wenatchee River past our rental. This was a pleasant surprise because I didn't know this was a whitewater mecca when we were searching local Airbnbs. There are a few rental companies along the river, most of them looking pretty good based on their reviews. We picked River Riders because they were close but if we were going to raft in the area again, I would return to River Riders. They were everything you would want in a rafting company: safe, fun, and methodic in the way they guide you in and out of the water and back to the car. While they are safe and methodic, the real emphasis should be placed on fun. Their whole business is rafting tours and they have cultivated a group of employees that enjoy life. The Wenatchee River at the time of our trip had perfect rapids, which were big and fun. Interestingly, if we had gone a week or two earlier when the river was even higher, the water level would've been too high for ideal rapids. At the beginning of our trip, our guide gave us the safety tutorial. This was important to learn, but only made my wife more afraid on a trip I had previously described to her as a great way to see the river. I did not mention any adrenaline inducing rapids. After a paddling through a couple sections of rapids, thoroughly spraying the couple seated at the front of our raft, my wife was having a blast. We both enjoyed our trip. read more

Raft the Tieton of you have the chance! About 30 miles NW of Yakima, this trip is only offered in Sept when they release the dam water. You get to play in fairly warm class III-IV rapids. Well nobody has done a review on these guys for quite a while. I always like to read a few reviews before trying a business for the first time so I'll update for others to read. We went yesterday and had a great time. The Wenatchee river is running quite a bit lower than normal so they recommend we try the rubber kayaking instead of the rafting boat. Glad we did as it was a blast. Lots of calm water and some fun rapids mixed in. We had two guides in our group of kayaks one was named Chandler I think and the other guy was Ben the Whopper. They were very friendly and laid back while making sure we had a safe trip down the river. We got to park the kayaks a couple different times on Sandy Beaches and swim or float little rapids without our kayaks. What a great day guys you made th trip the best it could be. This was my first time rafting - ever - so I was a bit nervous. Our guides, Willie and Yuri brought humor to our trip and made sure we were all having a good time while keeping us incredibly safe. We started out with a lunch of chicken and hot dogs. I scarfed the veggies and the perfectly sweet watermelon! It was 100 degrees last weekend, so they made sure we drank LOTS of water! We sunscreened up and went to our boats. Once on the boats, we paddled and glided down the river. I thought my arms would get tired from paddling, but that was not the case--the right balance of work out and relaxation time. We brought buckets on our trip and had water fights with other boats, saw an osprey and an eagle fight over some prey, and lost our sunglasses in the river--everything a good rafting trip should be! REALLY impressed with River Riders and made sure to tip my guide generously (all the cash I had in my wallet!). As they like to say (but not in a pushy way), "If you liked the ride, tip your guide." River riders was awesome! Prior to arriving I was super nervous because we were bringing our two 6 year olds! First we were served an awesome meal-smoked chicken, hot dogs, fresh fruits and veggies and potato salad! Our guide was Mike Bloom-he was awesome! Had tons of info, interacted well with the kids, knew the river and honestly did the majority of the work! He even let us get out and swim in the calm parts of the river! I've taken a few trips with River Riders and have had great experience with them. Everyone is so friendly and courteous, from the customer service person to the guides (they're probably the same people, actually). I would recommend that you tell them what you are looking for when you book the trip so that they can advise on where to go. My personal favorite is the Wenatchee early in the year (May-June). I agree that the lunch buffet is a little bit over exaggerated (don't get me wrong, the lunch was good but nothing I would pay over $5 for). There is generally no changing room, so be prepared to change in your car. Except for a few rivers, I think port-a-potty is the norm. Overall, I really like River Riders, they do have the best price in town and most of the guides we've rafted with are fantastic. They did their best entertaining us during the boring, calm water in between the rapids. Kudos to you River Riders - keep up the good work! read more

We went rafting today (our first trip) with River Riders on the Wenatchee and had a wonderful time! Dylan was our guide and he was excellent. Not only did he do a great job keeping us safe and finding some good rapids for us, he told us about the geology of the area, wildlife, and history. Everyone else we interacted with was fabulous as well, from Hudson who greeted us immediately when we arrived to get us set up to the kitchen staff who made a delicious lunch including awesome veggie burgers. Credit Card Fraud Alert!!!! had nothing but problems with this company. They were nice until they got my credit card info over the phone, then it was over bookings, and unauthorized credit card charges from then on out! CREDIT CARD FRAUD ALERT!!!!! I Tried to call and find out what the problem was in case they had an employee that may have taken my info and charged to my card and I was cussed at by the owner Jim. We booked a white water adventure with 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 11 and 12) and didn't know what to expect at first. Our guide, Tyler, was absolutely amazing!!!!!! He made sure we all understood the rules, and that we were safe, but also that we were having a blast. River Riders is a well oiled machine in that everything flowed smoothly from check-in, to wetsuit selection, to getting on the river, the ride itself, the shuttle ride back, and everything in-between. Every single person we interacted with was so incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we (especially the kids) felt safe and had fun! Has such a great experience with this company today. I'm surprised how affordable it is for the experience. We had a great guide named Peter and Ally was also in our caravan. We got lucky and there was only two groups this afternoon which gave us a nice intimate experience. I've rafted in Colorado and Tennessee but I think today's views was the best I've seen while on a river. Beautiful scenery. Also I'm surprised they also provide a lunch and it was really great. We had the best guide, Budda, (I think you can request river guides) and he gave us an amazing experience! Next time we will definitely use River Riders. Just took my first trip with River Riders down the Nooksack River, near Mt. Baker and had a blast. They put together a trip for 3 of us, they were organized and it was clear safety came first. It was clear that our guide Ben knew the river well, kept us interested with facts and threw in some humor too. The other guides were also good humored and kept looking out for our best interest. Two things kept me from giving them 5 stars. 1) some of the wet-suits and PFDs were fairly old (my wife's smelled a little). 2) there was a BBQ/Lunch as part of the trip, which we thought would be someone in front of a BBQ with burgers and dogs. This would have been so much better and welcome than eating at the restaurant near the meeting place in Maple Falls (see my separate review). I will certainly book with them again for other rivers here in Washington and have confidence in recommending them. read more

I recently wrote glowing remarks on this particular river rafting company after doing 2 trips with them on the Skykomish and Wenatchee. I like to give credit when credit is due, but after rafting this past weekend with friends and co-workers I was very disappointed in the service and experience of the trip. Luckily most of my friends and co-workers (9 of us) had never rafted before so they didn't really know what to expect, but having done other trips i knew what was expected. First of all the rating of this river is a class 3 & 4. I know it's not in their hands on how the water is going to be on a particular day, but I was told by the spokesperson for the company that it would be a great run with a lot of technical spots on the day we were rafting. Well, we were lucky to see even a class 2 wave. Just getting into the rafts and put in the water took over 2 and a half hours! I was told by my friend (who use to work for a rafting company) that they (river riders) knew that the water level would be low, so it would produce a quicker trip. Knowing that they just stalled as much as possible to make the trip seem longer. On their web site the 9 mile trip is suppose to take 5 hrs. We were in the water less than 2 hours! To make matters worse our guide 's personality was as dry as the Sahara desert. I'm thinking, if the run is going to be less than thrilling at least make an effort to have some fun by joking with your crew or maybe have water fights with other boats. And what was advertised as a "buffet" lunch never materialized. All that was served was 4 bags of potato chips, tasteless potato salad, burger and water - no semblance of fruit or salad or lemonade to be seen. I'm hoping to hear from Jim, the front office person I spoke to when I booked this trip and get an explanation on why this trip failed in so many areas. Needless to say, I will be booking with another company next time read more

A very good rafting company, and very touristy though. If you're a large group, first-time rafter, a little weary, or just plain conservative, they're the company to go with. Highly recommended. Great staff. Very capable guides. Very safe protocols - I mean seriously, when I call someone conservative, they've got to be ultra-safe. If you want to go rafting, live in Washington, and have been thinking, just go. You won't be in better hands. Why the four stars? Not crazy or stupid or risky enough for me. :-) So perhaps for you it's really a five-star review. read more

Went tubing today. Beautiful day. They were pretty efficient. I wish the employees wore clothing that clearly identifies themselves as company personnel. Because there were lots of people around it was hard to find the actual employees. But when we did, they were very nice and helpful. Only bummer is I wish the ride was longer. Had been wanting to give river rafting a try since seeing the Meryl Streep movie years ago! Hubby found this co.online (maybe thru Groupon?) and purchased it for me and my daughters to enjoy as my birthday gift. It was actually suppose to happen last summer but water levels were too low by the time we tried to book trip. This time we booked for a morning trip a couple months ahead of time but last minute the other group scheduled to go with us canceled therefore we had to choose an earlier or later day but luckily it didn't interfere with the hotel dates we too had already booked. So keep in mind between river water levels and the possibility of others canceling there is a chance of your trip having changes or cancellation. We found the place fairly easy as they had buses parked off the highway that had the name across them, hard to miss. Check-in was pretty easy as there is a person on duty at a check-in booth. Then you meet up with all the people going to hear basic pre-trip instruction. We then went to enjoy a nice BBQ lunch at a river side picnic table. I think the lunch choices sometimes differs but ours had a nice veggie platter w/ranch dip, watermelon, apples and orange for the fruit, potato salad, baked beans and hot dogs and tasty BBQ chicken. Then lemonade and water, nicely done. Then we went and got our wet suits on and waited for the guides to put us in groups and then get rafts in the river. It was the 3 of us plus 3 other gals plus the guide. He was very informative all during the trip going over safety and rafting tips/guidelines. I would say at least 75% of the trip is relaxing and then 15% exciting and 10% real thrills. It was all fun and each day on the river you can expect a little different experience especially as water levels change during the year. Your total time from check-in to check-out is about 4 1/2hr-5hrs. with 1hr given to lunch and suiting up, about 3 hrs. on river, then close to 30 mins. taking van back to original location and changing back into clothes. The only negative was the van, it's a 70's model on it's last leg it seemed. Oh, and hate to bring this up but being in a hot van only made this issue worse. The guides were so nice and helpful but lets just say deodorant can go along way. I almost got nauseous sitting directly behind them with the windows open blowing the air from their underarms into the van and I wasn't the only one that noticed it. But overall the rafting trip and lunch itself was a fun good experience and well worth the cost! The communication with Jim who books you online/phone was very helpful as well answering all your questions. read more

I'd probably give River Riders a 2.5 if I could. One good experience with them on the Tieton and one bad one. The first time, a few years ago, was great. The second one, last month, was pretty much a disaster. The guide blew it and took us right into High Noon (a large boulder in the middle of the river), and high-sided us against the rock. The entire raft flipped spilling everyone (6 of us) into the river. Fortunately, we were the lead boat so the following rafts eventually plucked us all out of the water. We then regrouped back on our raft, and 20 minutes later the guide landed right on top of another boulder - we were stuck for a couple of minutes until he was able to muscle the oar enough to get us going. We were pretty frazzled by then. We were fairly experienced rafters (Rogue, Deschutes, White Salmon, etc.), so we've had a person flip out of a boat on occasion. That happens. But for a guide to miss a very well-known landmark in the river - and one of the few that can high-side and flip a boat - is pretty bad. I was also disappointed that no one from RR contacted us afterwards to check on us, maybe apologize (at least two in our group were mildly hypothermic from time spent in the river). I even wrote them to just let them know what happened and never heard back. I wasn't expecting money back but you would think they'd want to maybe communicate something to us about the rough trip. The rafting experience can be very guide-dependent, which is why I'm not totally down on RR, but as a business I think they also failed us. Make your own decision, obviously. read more
