They have a detailed guide for every possible incident because how unpredictable the water can be and we knew what to do when called to action. I had an absolute blast rafting the Wenatchee River with Blue Sky Outfitters today! Terri helped book the reservation and obviously keeps everything running smoothly. Our river rat guide, Gerren, was fantastic--super fun and made the whole trip feel like an adventure. Even though the river was mellow this time of year, we hit a few exciting rapids, and the last one, hilariously named Granny's Panties, was the best. I even volunteered to float one rapid on my back, lost a sandal, and likely drank a gallon of river water--but I'd totally do it again! Highly recommend. read more

The setup is super weird in all honesty, they have a little picnic table setup infront of a subway gas station with no signs pointing you in their direction. it looks like a girl scout cookie stand, on top of that the man handling reservations had really no idea what he was doing since it was his "first summer". basically left us hanging when we asked him any question regarding the times and bus zones. turns out the "bus pickup zone" is just behind an old building next to a fallen sign and the "bus" is an old white van. ive heard great things about this place but it just doesnt seem worth the hype. p.s. ontop of that, they told us the float time was roughly 1-2 hours, it was 43 minutes but they charge you for 2 hours haha. read more

We never received the email confirmation, yet the payment was done, and yet wewent to methow at the time of the reservation, to find nothing. When we called them they told us that they were in wenatchee... 1:30 mins from methow. No refund, no reschedule, nothing. It's a shame ! I have booked through Blue Sky Outfitters in the past for rafting trips on the Wenatchee and White Salmon rivers. I got excited when I discovered they also had a white water rafting and wine tour package, since I was planning my BFF's bachelorette party. The package included transportation from the Blue Sky Outfitters store (which opened recently) in Leavenworth to the rafting site, three wineries and back to the store for about $145 (I believe). My girls and I had a fun time on the river. We picked the right day because the sky was clear blue and the water was just right. Our guide Brie was entertaining and did a great job guiding us down the Wenatchee. After our 1.5 hour excursion, we were fed a steak lunch. The lunch was alright but I wish there was a changing area. My girls and I had to discretely change on our adventure bus...a little awkward since there were kids outside. Once we were all changed, we were whisked away to the wineries. I was not too impressed with our first stop (Wedge Mountain) but enjoyed the wines from the second stop (Cascadia). Out last stop was at Silvara and the place was gorgeous, where we can sip wine outside facing the mountains. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with Blue Sky Outfitters. The only thing I found confusing was receiving a email a few weeks before the trip about paying a $3-$5 cover fee per winery. It turns out that we only had to pay a tasting fee at Silvara. I think it would have been easier to just include that in the excursion fee. If you're planning a relaxing day trip or a unique bachelorette party, I recommend booking with Blue Sky Outfitters. As for the store, they carry cute souvenirs and accessories one may need for a rafting trip such as sunglasses, hats and waterproof cameras. read more

We booked a tube float 1 hour prior to the trip and were not given the cancellation policy information at that time. We decided not to bring the dog (which costs the same as a child) which we had prepaid for. We let them know when we arrived at check in and at the and the 2nd location he wasn't joining us, and were told to contact the office after for next steps. We called the office after our trip and were told that we could not get a refund as we were within 14 days of the trip AND they could have sold the tube to another customer. Reminder we booked 1 hour prior to the trip leaving! It is somehow our fault for booking on the phone and not reading the website policy. As the customer I was very wrong and there was ZERO empathy or customer service provider. DO NOT BOOK. read more

Terrible customer service. They said they sent a confirmation with their refund policy which they did not. They called 5 minutes before we got there to make sure we were arriving, but then their shuttle was almost 30 minutes late in 105 degree weather. There is no information on the website that says you can't bring a cooler, and after dragging one all the way to the departure spot we're told that we have to take it back to the car (again, 105 degree weather). They will let us bring a water bag, but you have to purchase one there. You float for 45 minutes... when I complained they said that you have the tube rental for 2 hours, but the float is a fraction of the time... unless you want to stop and hang out on the beach (but again, with no cooler, cold beverages). We have rented at Leavenworth outdoor recreation center and their float is a better, the customer service and a better, and you can rent a cooler and get ice from them! Don't waste your time renting here! read more

We floated with this company on a Friday and had a great time. Nothing extreme, just a three hour cruise. There were 5 of us in our group in the raft and our guide was Henry. Great guy with a good safety talk and overall communication to the larger group. The bus ride to the put in was a hot mess but we got to cool off at the river as the guides prepped the rafts. We've floated about 8 times in three western states and Henry was second only to a guide on an all day trip down the Deschutes river. Good blend of information and small talk. Know how to share just enough without being weird. His experience set him apart from some of the other clowns. We had a great time and made some good memories. read more

Don't recommend. We went floating with this company. Biggest mistake EVER. We called the day before we go floating to reserve for 6 people 2 kids and 2 coolers. They day we got there we let them know the kids got food poisoning and they couldn't make it so we only needed 1 cooler. The people at the floating spot said that can be accommodated as long as we called. We called multiple times only for everyone to say we needed to talk to 'terry', we left our name and number multiple times only to never get a call back from the manager Terry. We called back again to ask if we can get refunded for the 2 kids and 1 cooler only for them to offer us a credit. We live in California and we're only visiting for a week so a credit wasn't gonna cut it. Also the rates here are shit for the amount of river you go down. You can get better customer service elsewhere. Please go and check out the other floating companies. This company lacks understanding, customer service and fun. All they care about is MONEY. This place was REALLY great!!! They were professional, polite and made sure to answer any and all questions asked. The scenic bus ride out to where you start the river was very relaxing and they told us we could be on the river for however long we'd like. The hubs and I stayed 4+ hours in the beautiful sunshine, swimming in the Wenatchee and enjoying our day together. We can't wait to do it all again next summer! read more

I was hoping my first yelp post would be more positive but you can't expect that when using a company like Blue Sky Outfitters. After going rafting a few times in the past (with another company), we never thought that tubing would be that difficult until we did it. It was our first time tubing in a river and we received no specific instructions except for "you will get to a Y section where you will take a left - there will be a yellow sign so you can't miss it. near the end you will see a stop sign and that is where it ends and you can drop off your tubes on the left side" First off, there were multiple Y sections. And second, maybe they should WARN their customers that near the end there is a dangerously fast, potentially death defining, CURRENT!! As we were approaching the stop sign near the end, my tube ends up getting caught by the current and I rapidly get pushed to the right side, away from my group and into the restricted area. I get flipped into the water and my tube fell on top me, as the whole crowd on the left side yelled and screamed. Luckily, i had an amazing friend that came after me and guided me with her words to grab her tube as mine floated away in the rushing water. We were also both lucky enough to have ran into a log in the river that was high enough for us to wrap our legs around to avoid getting carried even farther to a more dangerous part of the current. After nearly drowning, we hanged on to that log while I tried to catch my breath. The Blue Sky Outfitters employees just stood there on the side and watched while 3 random strangers jumped in the water to come help us. They threw us a long stick and dragged us onto shore. My friend, who was with me in the water, hurt her shoulder. Another one, cut her foot. And I cut up my knees. And even then, the Blue Sky Outfitters employees didn't even have a first aid kit. If anything, they were were concerned with getting our tubes so they can close shop and go home. This is by far the scariest and most terrifying experience of my life. If it wasn't for my friend and her amazing strength, and those 3 strangers that came to help us, I definitely would have not made it. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS!! I have done more adventurous sports in my life and I never thought that tubing would be the cause of a near life experience. When we got to the shore, I asked one of the Blue Sky Outfitters Employees why that sign is right next to the fast current and how it should have been half a mile away, and all she did was blame it on the City of Seattle. These people are unprofessional, they lack experience and knowledge, and they could care less if something happens to you or your group. Their tubes are dirty, they don't even have rope on hand to tie the tubes together, and lets not forget they don't even carry first aid kits. it was definitely not worth it. read more

What a great family bonding outing! My family of 4 occupied 2/3 of the 6 person boat and it was a blast to work together rowing and laughing as we were showered with the angry, rock provoked water! Worst experience ever! We paid $448 for my family and I and we never went on the water. They never refunded us and told us it was our fault because they sent us to the wrong location in Methow instead of Wenatchee. We called several times but they did not want to hear anything. They also never send any email confirmation, payment receipt nor cancellation terms and conditions even though they say they did. Snowshoeing Fun My family and I had a great time with Damon, our guide for our snowshoeing adventure. Damon was awesome. All along the casual 3 mile hike, he would stop to give us very interesting geology, wildlife and botany lessons. He was also full of great stories of his experiences in the wild, which included many wise reflections on the environment. He's pretty funny too! This was our first time snowshoeing and I highly recommend Blue Sky and Damon for this fun little adventure for the whole family. read more

This review is only for the river float experience. I normally river float with Leavenworth Outdoor Center but decided to give another company a shot. I called before booking online to ask about 1) how many miles the float trip is and 2) how long it currently takes to float. The lady who answered my call said 1) I don't know and 2) about 1.5 hrs.l, and stressed that if we keep the tube for more than 2 hours, we will be charged a fee. Not really knowing how long the float in miles is (because again, no information on their website as well as the employee who literally said "idk"), we didn't make many stops just bc we didn't want to get to the return site late. Well, turns out the whole float is a lot shorter than what I was told, taking only 40 minutes from the launch site to the end. Sure, it depends on the day, but that's why I called to ask 3 days prior to booking to get an idea of the length of this float. If you are looking to float (which I strongly recommend!) Leavenworth Outdoor Center is a way better option. It's 2 dollars more, but they're more transparent about the float experience (will tell you how long the float is in miles and well as expected float time), plus you get dropped off way further up in Icicle Creek. Update: I originally booked two float sessions and after being hugely disappointed with the first session, I called to cancel my second one. I explained I was told "1.5hr of float time" but it was really only 40-45 minutes, the lady who answered the call said "well you had two hours, you could've stopped along the way and stay longer." LOL. They literally just tell you "oh it's obvious where you need to get out." They don't tell you how long (in miles) the float, and give a terrible estimate of the float time is (maybe intentionally?), so it's hard to estimate how much floating time there is left when you're floating. Not to mention, how they charge you if you're late. It's not mentioned on their website, and I guess the employees don't know that either. So yeah, if you ever float with this company, which I strongly recommend not to, you're somehow expected to manage your 2-hr float time without knowing 1) where it starts and ends 2) how long in miles the float is 3) how long it should actually take to float the whole thing. My significant other and I rafted our first time in Washington back in 2013 using Blue Sky Outfitters and really enjoyed the experience. As we were back in the Seattle area again, we decided to book with this company again for the Full Day Wenatchee Rafting. We booked online through their website. It was $102 each for the full day tour which included a steak picnic lunch after the rafting trip ends. We arrived at the meeting point on time and checked in and signed waivers as white water river rafting can be dangerous as experienced on this specific trip. We were then given wetsuits, booties, and paddles and were driven in a bus to the launch point of the trip. The trip itself is about 18 miles long on river rafting tubes. We were split into two groups of six for each raft and were later joined on the water by another raft. We spent about twenty minutes going through safety on the water and as well as commands and other useful information to ensure that the trip will be a success. Our boat's leader was Lance and he has a ton of experience river rafting which is always reassuring as this was only our third time rafting. About forty minutes into our trip, one of the boats hit a rapid real hard and the entire boat flipped over and all seven people fell out of the boat. It was a very dangerous situation and we were very lucky that there were two other boats on the water. With Lance's handiwork, we paddled ahead of the flipped over boat and pulled in three people that fell out of the boat the flipped over. The third boat that was with pulled in the rest of the people that fell over. It was a very adrenaline rushed experience as the water was moving very fast and without going over the safety instructions, this could have ended very badly. Everyone from the tipped over boat was pulled out of the water safely. We rescued the tipped over boat further down the river and moved back to our original groupings. We rested for a little bit as this was a very scary experience that was handled very, very well. The trip continued and it seemed like everyone was having a blast. We got drenched over all of the different rapids and our guide, Lance, was very enjoyable. The whole experience lasted almost four hours and it also depends on how fast the water is moving for how long the experience lasts. We met a bunch of very nice people in our raft and we had a great time. We ended at the beginning point and there were some grilled steaks, corn on the cob, and some other side items ready for us to eat as we expelled a lot of energy on this trip. Overall, this was another phenomenal experience. The river rafting guides were very knowledgeable and safety was key during the whole experience. We had a blast and will definitely be doing this again despite the risks involved. I highly recommend Blue Sky Outfitters as the experience and professionalism was top-notch. read more

My boyfriend and I took a day long trip with Blue Sky. The management was great, as were the rafting guides. We met at the park where they geared us up with quality wetsuits, life jackets, and booties. Our guides were very knowledgable and made sure we enjoyed ourselves. After 4 hours of fun on the water we had a great dinner, my boyfriend had steak and I had an awesome chipotle garden burger. We have rafted with other companies in the past and Blue Sky was by far the best. I definitely recommend them. read more

My wife and I booked inner tubes through Blue Sky to float the Wenatchee River on a sunny, hot Friday in July. While the prices were reasonable and the employees friendly enough, I am disappointed they did not go over safety rules before setting us loose. When the shuttle dropped us off several miles upriver and we picked up our tubes, we were handed a clipboard and asked to sign a waiver. Then we were instructed to "start here, finish there, and when you reach the island in the middle of the river, go to the left." I think they were halfway back to their office in Leavenworth before we even hit the water. Still, it's tubing, right? What can go wrong? Plenty, if you ditch your tube three minutes into the float because you are drifting to the right of an approaching island, only to have it swept out of your hands as happened to my wife. So I had to go chasing after the tubes (hers and the floating cooler we had also rented) and then aim for the island because I had to stash the tubes and somehow figure out how to retrieve her, a few hundred yards back. Only I was in danger of missing the island myself, so I jumped out of my tube and was knocked off my feet by the swift current. Finally I made it to the island and my wife managed to wade/swim over, but not before nearly drowning herself. Seriously, close call for us both, and we were pretty shaken up. I don't blame Blue Sky for this, but a few simple safety instructions (like DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TUBE) would have helped quite a bit. Adding insult to injury, the island we were trying to avoid wasn't even the island in question. That one was further down the river, it turns out. But we had no way of knowing that at the time. So maybe spend five extra minutes with everybody before leaving us to our own devices! Once we shook off the incident, we tethered all three tubes together (should have done so in the first place) and the rest of the journey down the river was uneventful, even peaceful. I'd totally do it again, but with so many competing outfitters in Leavenworth though, I might choose another one next time. read more

The tubing down the river was great but the young adults working for the company have a lot adultng to do. When are tubing experience was over and we were waiting for them to pick us up they decided we did not need to be picked up that we could walk back but they forgot to tell us. My friend that was with me walks with a cane and has a hard time walking. Once I borrowed a phone and found out they did not plan picking us up we slowly made it back to the office with out a cane. Instead of the employees apologizing when we made it back to the office they Just laughed away thinking it was halarius laughed at the situation. The woman in the office said it's above her pay grade" to accommodate us and told us to go ahead and put our kids in the freezing cold river. I'm beginning this review to point out how disappointed I am in your business-not only as a local Washingtonian, but a person trying to dodge and avoid the pandemic and all of its fears. I arrived in Leavenworth last night to join three of my most closest friends after social distancing for well over 4 months of quarantine. One of the best parts of the weekend-we thought- was floating Icicle River. We trusted your company to not only take us safely down the river, but also abide by governing rules--this did not happen. I will explain. First of all, I found my self stuck at the 76 gas station for pick up for well over an hour past the time of my reservation. The reason being that there was an earlier float however the bus to get to the destination was full. I watched as the bus loaded up, I immediately felt uncomfortable. There was a school bus that seats 50, it was literally slammed with people. How is this responsible? How is this social distancing? You as the owner of a business are not only responsible for people, but the pandemic and safety of others. Also as a business owner, you should know the law, what I saw today was not only contributing to the pandemic, but illegal. Secondly, I went to the gal that was checking people in to inform her that our party was not comfortable on moving forward with the bus to get to our location. I stated that we would be more comfortable driving ourselves after what we just witnessed. She was agreeable and made a few calls on her walkie talkie and stated that driving ourselves is definitely not an option as the launch site is on private property. There were no measures to make accommodations to not only our fear of the safety of our party, or those around us. Lastly, our party decided that with face masks and the fact that 9 people-guaranteed- would only be on our 2:30 bus, we proceeeded. Personally, once I entered the bus I asked the driver, "have things been sanitized?" She pointed to the hand sanitizer sitting in her station, and didn't speak a word. My party and I took a seat as far away as possible from others as we were quite fearful for the "what-ifs" that could happen. I thought there would be a much more organized operation. I found that the entire experience was a risk that I'm never willing to take again. Please be responsible! read more

Our second time intertubing in Leavenworth and we chose this company because the one we liked was booked. We were told it would be a one and a half to two hour float and it finished in less than an hour. We were told by the manager that it was because of mother nature and there was nothing she could do. The manager was very condescending and rude with her comments. Will not be visiting this establishment again. It was more expensive than the other places with less time on the river . read more

This review is for the "Tieton River All Day Tour", near Naches, Washington I wish there was a star between 2 and 3, because overall my experience was a positive one. However, it was not A-OK as the 3rd star implies. I will say, the guides were great people. Friendly, and good at making the experience fun and interactive. Not overly self absorbed, got us involved in the rowing, steering of the craft. I thought the cookout was good. And the river was a good time, albeit my complaints... The 'all-day' marketing is not OK. I have seen other reviews mention it, and I want to say we hit the water around 1220-30, and we were out of the water shortly after 1515-30. 17 miles of river was actually 11, and the flow of the river and rapids were pretty hyped up. For the price versus experience, I will be taking her to the Salmon river in central Idaho next time. PS, insult to injury when we were shown some pictures that folks took from the banks of the river, which was really cool, and told it would be $50 for a usb with the pictures on it. $15 for a single picture digital download. That's insane. Not on the guides, but I would rather invest in a go-pro than pay that kind of money for a couple of good photos. read more

What's not to love about rafting. That said, I'd give their Wenatchee "all day" trip a 'don't bother' rating. It's not a bad run, it's just that there are better ones not far away. The river was running at about 4700 cfps. Which is a moderate flow for these parts. The "all day" trip amounts to just over 2 hours on the river, so liberties are taken with their marketing materials :-/ The food is, of course, very much don't bother. Low quality and high risk of food poisoning. Finally the guides... as this is a blah river it's given to the junior guides. While competent and even skillful on navigating the modest "class III" rapids, ours was the cliché of a guide. Confident, yes. But boy did he like to talk about himself. Once he had the floor that's all he did. He wound up telling corny jokes, which was fine, but then a woman on the trip wanted to tell a joke and he wouldn't let her until others on the trip insisted. That was a weird moment. Definite lack of emotional maturity. Otherwise, it's an easy way to get on the river if you're in Leavenworth and looking for something to do. If you want to really raft, go somewhere else. As for outfitters, these felt more seat-of-the-pants organization wise. The guides were skilled and qualified of course. The rest.... you (and probably they) can do better. read more

This is my first yelp... I decided to do it in "honor" of our guide who when he wasn't talking about himself he made sure to talk about tipping and even about the crappy tip ($6) he got from the day before & also his subtle hints of getting yelp reviews. So here you Go! :) We came in as a group of 12. 7 out of our group went with the energetic & outgoing guide who rolled with the flow. They had a great time and we could tell from our raft as our guide who started out our ride by getting irritated that we weren't in rhythm the first moment our paddles hit the river. As the other rafts were floating gently down the scenic portion of the trip he was having us grab the person in front and rock back and forth as part of our "training" for what was up ahead. Had this been done in fun it would have been fine however the guide was being condescending & rude. He actually nudged me with his paddle twice for not following his orders immediately...like I said, had it been in good fun, fine but he was being a jerk. I will say he finally seemed to snap out of his funk and lightened up enough to ask where we were from. After that he proceeded to talk about him self and tips. He did try to amp up the run by showing us how to surf the rapids and he did tell some jokes. We are pretty go with the flow people so were able to shake off the start of our trip but all in all our guide was a bit of a douche. Sorry "Dude" but you were... We'll let it slide because we figured you were stressed from your terrible group the day before and the massive hangover you probably had to unwind from your previously crappy day. On to the good stuff... The guide on the boat with the rest of our party was awesome! They all had nothing but great to say about him. He was also the guide that gave us the run down on the bus and went over everything right before hitting the water. Very fun and such a people person! All equipment provided was adequate and in good shape. And the meal provided at the end was good and large portions. We are going 3 for over all experience and dropping the final 2 stars in hopes that the guide we had can check his funk at the door next time instead of taking it out on the next group of paying(& tipping) customers. read more

I honestly wish that yelp had a no star option-- Blue Sky Outfitters didn't even earn the one star. Let me begin by saying, the main reason we elected to go to Leavenworth was to tube down the Wenatchee River. I booked with Blue Sky Outfitters online a month before my trip. As an ultra-prepared traveler (and in general) I sent an email confirming our reservation 7/13 at 10:03 A.M. (I just looked up my email) requesting they email or call me if they needed anything else from me and that I was looking forward to our trip. Upon arriving a half-hour before our departure (again super-prepared) we were informed that we didn't have a reservation. I showed them the confirmation print-out and was told in a condescending tone essentially that it was not a complete reservation. The ladies at the front desk were anti-customer service and seemed to go out-of-the-way to not help us. A woman with bluish/purple hair and a chest tattoo was just awful and screamed at us, in a panic that their "whole day was booked" and "there was nothing she could do" and that "this happens all the time and the owner needs to deal with this." Please keep in mind that the owner was not on sight. She pointedly told me all the other tubing places were booked. I asked about the location where they float and said (trying to think on my toes) that as a last resort we could buy tubes and float ourselves. Apparently this set her off! She snapped at us and told us they use a 'private beach and no way the public can know where they drop people off!' HUH?!!! Finally I begged her to call another tubing place (since we couldn't bring our phones with us as we were planning to float). Reluctantly she called a company down the road and was told they have plenty of space. Thankfully we hustled down to Leavenworth Outdoor Center (LOC) and they happily take walk-ins--all day, every day. As a bonus I realized that LOC has better tubes (backrest) and drops riders off a point more up the river--which made the ride longer. Bottom line: Blue Sky Outfitters is disorganized and has horrible customer service. Better to walk 3 blocks down the road and have a great experience with Leavenworth Outdoor Center. read more

I can't recommend Blue Sky for numerous reasons. I booked the full day with steak dinner for my mother, my niece, my two sons and myself on the Wenatchee River. First off, the full day rafting was 2 hours on the water. I'm sorry but I don't think 2 hours is a full day in anyone's book. The first clue should have been that the express trips at 8 or 9 and the full day starts at 11 am. The only difference between the express trip and the full day is that they take you upriver a ways for a 20 minutes float to 1 rapid. Then you pull out and portage around the dam. The dam is where the express trip starts. So if they added 20 minutes to the express trip they may have a marketable trip. Oh yeah, the other difference is an cheap piece of sirloin overcooked on the grill with some store bought potato salad and corn on the cob. There full day add is misrepresented at least and closer to all out false advertising. One family on the afternoon trip was so disgusted that they only spent 2 hours on the river that they left without eating the grisly meat. The other issue is with the actual trip. Our guide was ok but really wasn't as familiar with the river as I would have hoped. She was much better then one of the other guides who was giving one of the most boring rides you could have imagined. He was taking every green line in every rapid and his people were pretty pissed. Then he cost our boat one of the too few rapids we had when he hit the rapid wrong and sent 4 people flying out of the raft and into the water. We had to green line through the rapid to assist in getting them back out of the water. I'm not complaining about having to assist because when they went in all bets were off, my complaint was his inadequacy in the first place. My boys enjoyed the trip and the rapids. My advise to anyone using Blue Sky is to take the express trip and save money and time. My advise to Blue Sky is to one, deodorize your wet suits, and two, get rid of the all day option. I would also suggest you move your express trip upriver enough to include Rock and Roll. read more

I did the half day trip Wenatchee River on 6/24 with my daughter and son-in-law. This is the second time we've used them. Our guide this time was Ariel. He was informative, funny and gave us a really good ride. The water was way more active than a few years ago. The weather was hot so being on the river was great. We've had a good experience with this company. The reason for the 4 star is it seems to take a long time once you arrive at 10:30 to actually get on the water. I know they have to do their safety speech which I always listen to and check people in...I'd use them again in spite of this. read more

Everything from booking our trip to the actual trip was great! Every time I called to get information they called right back. Our guide John did an awesome job entertaining the 8 of us as we floated down the river. We all had a chance to get wet! John was a real lifesaver. This is a must-do for the outdoor adventurer.
