Something I've always wanted to try & I am sure glad we did. Due to the CrowdStrike/Microsoft software debacle, our flight from Chicago to Seattle was canceled less than 12 hours before takeoff. That made our original reservations impossible for us to make. I sent an email & Steve was very quick to respond (within 15 minutes on a Saturday night) and move our reservations to the next day (all within 25 minutes). Thank you so much, Steve! We are a family of 4 and all first-time rafters from Illinois. We ran the Skagit River of Class 2's & 3's. Eric was our guide. Carl was the guide for our partner rafting family from Georgia. Eric was awesome and made us all feel very comfortable. His knowledge & easy to follow instructions kept us all in the raft. This was a very thrilling ride for beginners with some slower floating time to just take in the pure beauty. Now my 14yo son & I have the itch to tackle some 4's & 5's - my wife & daughter said they'll pass (though they truly loved this Skagit run). We rafted the Skagit River. What a magnificent way to spend at least 1/2 your day out on the water, you get a unique view of the land and the water, totally worth it!! Some really breathtaking views and nice to escape some summer heat. Our guide Luke was super personable and very knowledgeable not just about the River but the surrounding wildlife and culture. As well as the regions surrounding the cascades. The conversation and jokes make the trip extra memorable. I recommend it. read more

Water rafting was something I never had done but wanted to. There were so many questions to the trip. What should I wear? How should I prepare? I tried to dress for the best, but Alpine had some wetsuits and water shoes readily available for me. My guide, Amara, was amazing and was super friendly, knowledgeable, and talkative. Alpine also had everything ready from start to finish, making it seamless and hassle-free. It made the whole experience amazing. If I'm ever back into town, I'm definitely looking for Alpine for another water rafting excursion, maybe one with more intensity! read more

My wife and 2 daughters (ages 8 & 12), had a wonderful day on the Skagit with our guide, Max. Would recommend to all. We had no experience and brought nothing - they took care of it all and we were safe. My daughters loved the class 3 rapids (brief, but thrilling), jumping in the river, and learning about the river and mountain ecology. Max was funny and very educational- really gave the trip even greater value. It's gotta be hard taking 10 random strangers down a river after meeting them for 10 minutes and Max did an amazing job of making all on the trip have a role and moments just for them. Raft guides = expert rafters, stand-up comedian, collegiate educators, psychologists, and camp counselors. 5 stars to max for pulling off all 5 roles with grace and expertise. We went on a class 2-3 beginner white water rafting trip with Alpine Adventures last weekend on the Wenatchee river. It was so much fun. Our guide was funny and very knowledgeable. If you listen and follow their instructions, your boat will not flip. We went in a group of 8 and had the raft to ourselves. It's a nice group activity. The water is still cold. They give you wetsuit, water shoes, wind breaker, and life jacket. They should keep you warm enough. If you like to get very wet, sit in the front. The middle get the least impact. read more

We took a huge leap of faith, given the time of year to attempt to paddle on our wedding anniversary. Steve notified us the day before that we didn't have enough people to safely man our boat. This was our second (attempted) trip with Alpine Adventures. The first time was last July and the trip was great for those that remained in the boat. The raft guide freaked out people in the boat so bad about the last (and best) rapid that he recommended if they were scared to get out and walk around the rapid and meet us on the other side. He said there would be signs showing where to walk. Long story short, there were no signs and our friends got lost. An hour and a half later after searching for them, we found them. Crazy thing was the rapid the guide freaked everyone else about was the best one! And was not unsafe at all. Aside from all of this, we still tipped the guide well. Fast forward to today. We flew up from sacramento and got 4 other family members to join in and go rafting with us (this time no one would get out of the boat). We got up at 6 am to drive to the rapids. With less than 45 minutes to the rapids (already driving for 2 hours) we get a call that they're cancelling the trip and will have to refund us. Apparently the water was too low and a bunch of people quit! If they cancelled a few days before that would still suck because we flew up from sacramento to do this trip, but they called us to cancel 1 HOUR BEFORE THE TRIP WAS SUPPOSED TO START! Unfortunately we will not return because of this shady customer service. You need to be considerate of people's time and give more than a 1 hours notice before the trip is supposed to start! read more

We went today on the Skyhomish River and it was legit! Becca was our guide and it was super fun! She was friendly but honest too about the dangers. It was a 100 degree day with fast moving water and only one of us fell out at the very beginning Becca was super fun, allowing us to sit on the front of the raft, swim in the cold water and dive in. I went on the Tieton river with Alpine Adventures in Sept 2019. It was a blast! I felt the Guide was experienced and gave all of us adequate training and guidance. I knew right away I was going to book with them again. The trip was amazing! I booked the Skykomish river in July and ended up having to cancel because a member of our group got sick about a week before we were scheduledto raft. With the pandemic nobody wanted to chance being exposed. Alpine Steve and Dustin were very reasonable about the cancelation. There was an administrative fee but that is to be expected. I'm booking again this year for the tieton I noticed the only negative reviews for Alpine were peopke that cancelled last minute and seems pretty reasonable to me that you pay because you booked the spot. read more

I made a reservation to go rafting with this company and ended up getting super sick. I had to go to the ER. Ended up canceling my trip due to extreme vomiting and fever. They refused to refund me and when I called Speak to the owners out a refund or at least a partial refund he refused to even call me back or talk to me. So disappointing. And unethical.do the right things people. I would have been happy with even just a partial refund but this lack of customer service is alarming. Be careful booking with this company. You could have used the fuel on the next trip. And I know how it is with guiding business. The guide was not prepaid or paid in advance. Have some integrity. The rafting was fun but I would not go back simply because of all the guides. Even though everyone was over the age of 16 the guides were very crude in their comments and jokes.The guides were consistently smoking and using vape pens right next to groups where we were forced to inhale. Their jokes were funny a few times but majority of the time were crossing the line and very crude and inappropriate. Everyone in our group and other groups felt uncomfortable with the majority of the jokes and comments the guides were making it. I would feel very uncomfortable coming here with my family. This would not be somewhere I go back to simply because of the lack of professionalism all of the guides failed to display. Out of all of the rafting I have been on these guides were the least professional by far and distilled very little confidence in trusting them or this company. read more

It was a fun experience, though the water level was very low (not the companies fault and they let me know upfront). My only complaint about the whole thing is they should have a sign at the meetup. We were at the Skajit river and there were actually three campgrounds with the same name as the meetup spot. The guides were fine, overall the experience was basic. read more

Great rafting experience on Skykomish on a Sunday in early June (7500 cfs). We had an experienced guide (JoJo) who knows how to get it done, and a very capable safety kayaker (Alex). Our guide explained three different plans for Boulder Drop (class v). Plan A went as planned except our raft turned around in the middle of the rapid, so we had to row backwards, and not a single person ended up in the water (there were six of us). Beautiful views of Steven's Pass. Also great value at $89/person with BBQ grilled hamburgers at the end. Wet suits, booties, helmets, splash guards and personal floatation devices included. As a bonus, if you go on Skykomish and ask for JoJo, you will see an entertaining way of getting a raft down a set of steps. read more

She seemed angry when she was giving the safety lecture but I chalked it up to her being serious about safety. I was really disappointed when our friends shared how difficult and boring she was. SO FREAKING FUN!! I went solo but as a social butterfly, I made friends with the family and a solo guy who went. I could not stop laughing!!!! The guides (sweet gal from Utah and awesome nomadic dude) were so helpful and interesting. A huge shout out to the female receptionist who didn't bat an eye when I kept calling her for info as it came to mind (what do I bring, what to wear, where to meet, etc.). She was so helpful and kind! I will ABSOLUTELY be using this service again although not for a 3 but rather a 4 because I want an even more adrenaline rush! read more

They were completely disorganized and left the parking lot way past the promised time. The van that took us to the starting point on the Wenatchee was very old with the falling roof pieces hitting me in the head and a windshield which was cracked in a dozen places. I felt very unsafe. It took forever to get organized again at the river while another company arrived after us and proceeded right past us into the river as any professional company should. They were all wearing helmets while our guide said it wasn't necessary, making me feel unsafe again. One of the guides in our group wore a helmet but we weren't offered that option. The ride itself was fun but short compared to the time it took to get us in the water. I'm choosing another company next time. read more

This was my second time at Alpine Adventures. They were the first company I went white water rafting with 4 years ago, and set the bar high. Over the years, I tried out other companies based on deals I found/different rivers, etc. I've always had a positive memory of Alpine, and 4 years later, the experience was still top notch. John took us out, and he was very skilled/knowledgeable, personable, and fun. The river was flowing pretty fast, so he had us get out to look at the Boulder Drop and explain our navigation plan. He ensured everyone felt comfortable doing it. If you decide to pass, there's a hiking trail that you can take. My friend was a first time rafter and she handled class 4-5 rapids on the Skykomish perfectly! It was the first river I rafted as well.. so if you like adrenaline, don't let this "intermediate/advanced" river intimidate you! read more

Can't say enough good things about Alpine Adventures. This was without a doubt one of the very best rafting that I have done. I dont think you will find a bad guide here. Not only was the vibe great among all of them, but each one has many years of experience and truely loves what they do. Our guide was Alex and he was just fantastic. The day that we went was a day to behold. The sun was out and warm (yes, this was one of the 5 days in the year that the sun could be seen in washington). This heat was melting the snow and feeding the river. It was running at 10,500 cfs. THAT IS A LOT OF WATER. Before we started one of the owners talked to the group. Told everyone how much water there is on this day. That there isnt an 'if' people will be taking a swim (an unplanned exit of the raft), but a matter of how many. He then said that if anyone didnt feel comfortable going that he would give a full refund. No questions asked. Now that really is a statement that he/they really care about those who are there. (Dont expect that offer every time, this was an uncommon situation for the river). With that said...not a single soul backed out. We got our gear..got on the bus..drove to the launch point. Was given instructions, got in our raft, had a little practice going over the instructions. Shortly after...down the river we go. I am still just in awe how beautiful it is here. Fast forward: we get to Boulder Drop. This is the class 5 beast. All rafts pull to the side. Everyone walks along the edge of the river. Alex walks us through the plan to get through this. Everyone was given the option to walk down to the end of this and not raft it, but none of us did. So back to the raft we went. Only one raft goes down at a time. There are safety guys in Kayaks in case you go in the drink. (Just reinforcing how safety conscious they are). Well its our turn. It was going great until we got to the section known as Flypaper. Now Alex was yelling at us who were on the right side of the raft to move to the left side when we were on that rock. It was just a bit more challanging to do that than I expected and one of the other rafters as well. (Though I am well preped for next time). Sure enough...we end up in the drink. Alex did an outstanding job getting us into the raft. Our brotha in the Kayak was right there helping as well. These guys are pros. Everyone got back to the raft safe and sound. Even kept all of our paddles. * For those worried about the cold 38 F water. The wet suits are impressive. It was sure as heck very brisk, but was so much better than I ever expected. And this is coming from someone who dosnt like the cold. I could go on and on from here at how great the trip was, but just trust me...it is just something you will need to experience yourself. I went white water rafting on July 16, 22 with Alpine and it was the worst experience ever! They were very disorganized. It took 45 minutes + to get everyone on the rafts. The release had no place for emergency contacts. I asked about wearing helmets and the guide told me "it's not mandatory, and only 50% of our clients die." J had everyone's name scribbled on a piece of paper and he couldn't even read his own writing. J was counting on his fingers to figure out how many people could go on each raft. I have a disability where I use a walker and a cane. It was written on the release, and one of the guides told me I hadn't told them about my disability. They debated if I could go rafting. This is my 7th white water trip in 2 yrs. J said he was high as a kite (kidding). J introduced the bus driver as "He used to be a guide, but he was too drunk, so we made him a bus driver. There were not enough seats on the bus, so people were standing or sitting on the floor. I had to wait 30-45 minutes after the white water rafting to get my walker, as it was on the top of the hill, and they were too disorganized to have my walker available. J told me he makes up stories when guests ask about sites along the river. It was one of the worst experiences ever. Sharon read more

This weekend I took my second trip down the Skykomish river with Alpine Adventures and was once again thoroughly pleased with our experience. The team doesn't waste any time getting you outfitted with gear and bussed the put-in. No need to be concerned with leaving valuables in your car - you'll park at their headquarters and keys remain safely locked up with staff that are present while you're out enjoying your trip. Myself and another member of our group are former raft guides, which means we can be terrible paddlers! I cannot speak more highly of our guide Hal, who chose such skilled lines throughout the entire trip, not once did the two "backseat drivers" question his approach. He nailed all the big water while keeping everyone in the boat, which was no small task considering the high water level. We made the unanimous decision to make this an annual trip, and will most certainly be requesting Hal when it's time for round three. I'm just not sure I can wait another full year to run the Sky again, so we may be seeing one another sooner than later! read more

My father and I have been going on white water rafting trips together for the past 12 years or so since I was just a kid. Together we have enjoyed many rivers and rafting trips with a wide variety of companies all up and down the west coast and into Canada. With that being said, I'd like to share that our recent trip with Alpine Adventures on the Sykomish was by far one of the best trips we have experienced! This year we booked a Sunday afternoon trip in early July with AA and brought along my dad's girl friend and her two kids who were all first time rafters. When we arrived and started the pre-rafting process we noticed that this crew was more organized and efficient than many others we had seen in the past. The safety briefing was structured, thorough, and encompassed all the necessary information, especially helpful for the first time rafters in our group. There was very little down time and we were shuttled to the drop in point via bus. The guides working that day were JoJo, Alex, Nelson, and an additional safety kayaker. All three guides were helpful, friendly, and more than happy to answer any questions of the nervous younger passengers in our group Our guide for the day was Alex and we all agreed he was exceptional at what he did and made our day on this beautiful river even that much better. We appreciated the knowledge he had of the surrounding area, history of how the river came to be, and recommendations for great hiking and other activities. His passion for the river and the great outdoors was very apparent and very contagious. My dad's girlfriend in particular appreciated that it was noted there was a younger lady on our boat and humor and fun was adjusted accordingly. I have to agree with the other reviewer in that AA is a great river rafting company. Very organized and their equipment is up to date. I also like the fact that they really explain how to paddle in unison to effectively hit the rapids for maximum fun! This proves to be very important when rafting on the class V river, Skykomish. It is a little pricier than the other companies, but I think their attention to detail makes up for it. Will definitely raft with them again. read more

We did the Class IV-V rafting trip on the Skykomish River meeting in Gold Bar. Gold Bar is about an hour fifteen outside of Seattle, so the drive wasn't too bad. Once you get there, you notice that Alpine Adventures is a building, a tent, and some buses/trailers that the guides live in. It also had a funky sweaty smell. Once all of the formalities were taken care of, we got our equipment, all of which was clean and in good condition. We boarded the vans which were actually very dirty which was very offputting. Once we got to the river, we had a safety talk and got into our boats. Our boat was very inexperienced (our family has rafted at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte and the other family except for the adult had not rafted). Our guide was Jojo, and he was great. The highlight was when we initially got on and they stressed not doing anything uncomfortable--"Peer pressure is great...but not here. If you don't want to do Boulder Drop (Class V), don't. We will not make fun of you. We will commend you for making a good decision" or something along those lines. Very professional. When we got to Boulder Drop, we pulled over and they talked us through every scenario. Some members of the boat chose not to do it, so they were walked to the end. The rest of us had a lot of fun and nobody fell out. After Boulder Drop, there was an opportunity to jump off of a huge boulder into freezing water which I did not take advantage of. They have a chicken cookout when you get back which is nice. Jojo was excellent. He fit the bill of raft guide perfectly. The only negatives were the dirty vans and smelly location. I'd definitely recommend AA to anyone who wants to raft, though. The Skykomish is beautiful! read more
