Came on Monday of July 4th weekend around 10AM, parking lot was pretty full but there was still space. There's a map at the beginning, trail was pretty clear, intersections have good signage. Hike was surrounded by trees, didn't see much aside from the line kiln and the river at the end. Not too many people, not very steep, a good stroll.

My boyfriend and I did this hike together. Its pretty long so i wouldn't say its an easy hike. it is a good workout, though. the trail gets kinda narrow and overgrown the further you go, and the terrain is pretty rocky for a lot of it. theres a lot of roots to trip on and fallen trees to climb over. we saw lots of nice trees and mushrooms, the lime kiln is also interesting to look at. at the end theres a beautiful running river on big dark rocks. there was also plenty of rocks on shore to climb on if you want a better view. the parking lot has a lot of pot holes as well. i didn't really like it enough to want to go again, but that doesn't mean you wont! id definitely give it a try.

It is a lovely hike with some interesting artifacts along the way. It is a well maintained trail for the most part, but there were a few "bridges" that felt a little sketchy. We went on a warm day, which was fine but it did get muggy. Not a ton of people on the trail which was nice. The river was a nice spot to sit and have a snack and cool off. It is a long hike, but not overly challenging by any means. The drive up there gets a little confusing towards the end, but if you follow your maps you should be fine.

    The lime kiln!

This is a well-maintained trail up in the Granite Falls area. This is a fairly easy hike with little elevation gain and would be great for people of all hiking abilities. It's 7 miles round trip if you continue to the end of the trail at the South Fork Stillaguamish River (this is a nice spot to enjoy lunch). You'll reach the lime kiln at just under three miles and it is really fun to explore it and look at all the artifacts left behind. They are scattered all along the trail (mainly between the 2.5 and 3 mile marks) so keep an eye out! This is a fascinating way to learn about the history of this area. I would recommend wearing pants instead of shorts because there were nettles growing very close to the trail. Dogs are allowed on leashes. This would be a great hike for those overcast days where you wouldn't be able to see big views from other hiking locations.

An old timber logging route, where limestone was processed from (you guessed it) , an old kiln from 1893. What's neat are plenty of logging relics, pots and pans, various steel scrape metal, etc. Maybe not the most beautiful trail I've ever seen, but the what I enjoyed most was the historical aspect of the trail. At the trailhead, read the information boards to get the most of your visit. Please visit the website for much more detailed info.

Wonderful trail filled with beautiful views ranging from waterfalls to the raging river. The trail starts off easy and gets progressively difficult. There are quite a few narrow trail sections that run near steep terrain - definite need for hiking boots. Total trail length estimated at a little over 6-miles. a definite must-see for anyone with a passion for historical sites!

Beautiful 8 miles. Easy trail, little muddy with the rain today but well worth it.

Easy 8 mile (give or take) trail. Well worth the extra mile to go to the river. Little muddy with the rain but not terrible. Beautiful left at 9:30am and didn't see anyone until the hike back. Nice!

It's a good walk, lots of up and downs along the trail to give great exercise along the walk.

It's a easy trail. But everything you want in a hike. Took my son when he was little. Lots of stuff to see you end up at a river

There are fantastic views of the South Fork Stillaguamish River and, of course, the main attraction: a lime kiln abandoned in 1934.

The road up to the trail is in much better shape than I was expecting and when I arrived at 8:30 am…read moreon a sunny Friday, there were plenty of parking spaces left. The trail is very well signaled and maintained. Absolutely GORGEOUS views, challenging enough but not one of those hikes you never want to do again. And the payoff is worth it 100 times.

This hike is not for the faint of heart. I almost turned back 3 times and the first was just…read moredriving up there! This hike however will reward you with beautiful views and a workout and if you make it to the top you will feel beyond proud of yourself. A quick climb up the ladder to the fire lookout will take you back into history with old letters and photos of what this land once was! It was too hot to read through everything when I came up so I will have to make more trips. The road going up is filled with holes, large holes that your whole car will dip into. I took it slow at first until another car passed me and I found the right technique for my subi. Yea a subi can definitely make the trek but just be gentle on your cars and enjoy the journey! The hike up is all stairclimbers. It's definitely not a walking trail for a casual stroll; it's strenuous but very fun. I felt I was in great cardio shape while hiking but my hips and knees definitely made it harder. Stairs made of stones, stairs made of wood, and the last bit leading to the lookout is all hopping over rocks and even pulling yourself up. Bring your hiking poles and it'll definitely help! $5 for parking without a Discovery pass.
