The bus to the river (1 mile to dropoff for our trip, on the outside).
    John S.

Shane and Andrea are great! The website in www.chinookexpeditions.com We just did a trip down the Skykomish with them this last weekend... tons of fun. I've done a number of river rafting trips and never before did a guide take the time to teach us how to "Eddy Up", "Surf", drown the boat... or any of the other fun stuff we did. I mean PERSONAL Attention! It was just great. Also, they put out a pretty nice spread of food mid trip, with turkey curry sandwiches, fresh fruit and vegies cut up river-side... it was all and all a great day. Final note: buy the CD! A professional photographer shoots photos of all the boats coming down the river (our spot was Boulder Drop), she then uploads them and classifies by Date, River, Group & Guide. Photos were amazing... and the guides don't have to try to snap cheesey photos.

    Shane!

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.

I opted for the cocktail class and was so impressed! First, the quality of the ingredients they shipped to me was amazing, from a spiced honey ginger syrup and special bitters blend to candied ginger and dehydrated orange garnishes. We made three bourbon drinks (Woodford Reserve, also included), led by a mixologist from the Seattle area. I especially liked the Holiday in Louisville, which was a twist on a Moscow mule, and the spiced old fashioned. The webcast was well produced, with a couple of folks from our company co-hosting with the mixologist. If you're planning a corporate event and have remote team members, I highly recommend these virtual experiences!

Overall Leavenworth was well worth the trip. Expectations were exceeded! We enjoyed a beautiful snowy drive with several Christmas movies & Trivia on both ways. The bus was surprisingly filled with people who seemed to be 25+ (a perk for us late 20's) but it would still be enjoyable for kids/teens. We left the SLU around 10am and arrived by 1pm, had time to explore shops and eat two meals, then got on the bus by 6pm and arrive by 8:15pm! It even snowed during our time there which made it extra memorable. Food and drink is super reasonably priced there, compared to Seattle at least. The host was entertaining and friendly. Only knocked off one star for the in-bus bathroom - it unfortunately wasn't the cleanest as was out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer - yikes! The host did walk around with plenty of snacks, water, and hand sanitizer later. Aside from that, everything was seamless! Thanks, Sound Excursions!

The owners, Barbara and Dalton were so nice and down to earth, They are true animal lovers just like we are. They have over 20 horse, 3 dogs, 2 mules and they offer it all. This isn't your 1 hour trail ride up a dirt road and back. This ride is 3 to 4 hours long, through trees, down what looks like animal trails in the woods, you criss cross through the woods and clear cuts in the Skykomish River Valley then you head up mountain to this amazing lookout and have lunch. I rode a wonderful gelding named Bernie. Bernie's a Missouri Fox Trotter and he was super sweet. Chris rode Comet, she's a Tennessee Walker. Chris said she floated. You can see for miles up on "the rock". When you look down into the valley and see just how far you have ridden, you are amazed. Dalton said it is probably 5 miles. The lunch is amazing, it's from the Sultan Bakery and it is one of the best lunches I've had. Sitting up on the rock just me, Chris, and Dalton was so relaxing. We became instant friends. Stillwater Ranch offers a variety of rides that include river rafting, fishing, moonlight rides, overnight camping and much, much more. You can ride in all seasons - We are looking forward to a winter ride when the valley is covered in snow. They are even starting a wine dinner ride - woo hoo. The next time we need an equestrian fix, we will look to Stillwater Ranch to supply it.

We read the reviews online and called them to book our adventure. We were treated with kindness and respect from the time that we got there. We signed the requisite waivers and were told that the rapids head tamed down to class three which was very manageable and safe for the family. They outfit you with wet suits and boots and it's suggested that you bring your own hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. Our guy took the time to get to know all the folks that were in our group and arranged us in the raft, according to our age and abilities. My son and his friend sat towards the back of the raft, which turned out to be the safest and driest location. After a short walk-through of expectations and paddling instruction, we got underway. Smooth sailing for the 1st mile or so, and then we hit our first group of rapids. The guy did an outstanding job of keeping us afloat and telling us which side to paddle aggressively, and which side to back off on. Throughout the day, this continued and we hit several more aggressive rapids that were challenging, but a lot of fun. Photographers are located throughout the course and will get some great pictures of your group as you head down the river. They are available for purchase at the end. Overall, a great experience and a great day with osprey rafting company. Highly recommended!

We saw them feeding along the river bank, resting and drying wings in the trees, soaring high over head, and chattering to each other. Other stuff to know : Definitely wear layers with a water proof outer shell, including pants and shoes. I also was glad to have a hat with a brim to keep the rain off my face. You're outdoors in the PNW in the winter. So plan for 40s and rain and embrace the conditions. That said, if you're a dummy like me and leave your rain coat at home, they have ponchos in the visitor center you can borrow. Not ideal but better than nothing. The drive took us 100 minutes from Seattle on a Saturday. It's a gorgeous drive but Rockport and surrounds are lovely so definitely consider making a weekend of it.
