STEER clear of guide named Jesse. The majority of our group were beginner rafters and we made this abundantly clear. From the beginning of the journey, Jesse immediately resorted to yelling, swearing at, and belittling our group of 8, which made the group extremely anxious and on edge. This was a cake walk considering Jesse put the entire group in danger by continuing to guide the raft into rocks and forcing group members of a heavier weight to sit on one side of the raft. Needless to say, the boat tipped and one of the members nearly drowned due to his (Jesse) negligence, to which Jesse continued to make jokes about "waivers". Please do not make the same mistake our group did, and request another guide. read more

Second time on the Wenatchee, but first time with Wildwater. Had a solid trip over the Memorial Day weekend. Brode was an excellent guide, offering some great stories and plenty dad-jokes as we went downriver. He also provided some great instruction for a raft of (mostly first-timers) and was patient when explaining paddle technique and safety. I can't remember what the rest of the raft decided, but Brode was serious about making sure we'd get wet and stay in the boat. We were the last of three rafts on the trip and when I compared how the other guides were running the smaller rapids, I--finally--realized Brode was turning the raft sideways just before to make sure one side got drenched. Then he'd repeat, but turn the other way. Loved that! He seemed great at reading the situation, guiding for maximum fun, but making sure to keep everyone safe. It was our teen's first time rafting and the experience left her wanting to get back on the river ASAP. read more

Easy company to work with and excellent guides! I took my parents, who are 69 and 70 years old, on their first whitewater rafting trip during a visit to Leavenworth. Our guides were Brode and Guy, and both of them were absolutely wonderful and fun--I was a big fan of Brode's dad jokes, and we loved watching guy do tricks with his kayak. They were very patient with my parents who were a bit nervous, and they made the experience very memorable for them. I went rafting with company and I feel compelled to tell my experience after my unfortunate experience. It was at the height of melting snow and the water in the river was at a very high level. I wondered about that but assumed these were safe conditions. Boy, it almost cost me my life. In hindsight I think the employees should have updated the riders that it was no longer a stage "3". Because I almost drown and not one of two workers were aware, let alone looked for me under the boat. You see, the boat with about eight people tipped over by the large waves. The folks here were super nice and friendly, and our guide was a doll. But omg... the trip itself (mid-July 'whitewater' rafting morning run) was so boring! (And the required helmets were PAINFUL. Two of our four people had these bolts on the sides of the helmets digging into our heads the entire time. They are not ONS, so if you wear a 7.0+ in hats, bring your own helmet.) I realize the rafting companies don't control the waters, but charging nearly $100 a person for what was basically a 3-hr float is nuts. I see now that the website says class III 'rapids,' but when I called to ask about the run and book the trip, I was told 'numerous class III and IVs'... when there were maaaaaybe two class III and no IVs at all. Most of the trip alternated between glass-smooth water and everyone working together to push the raft off rocks because the water was so low. Seriously, we could've done the entire thing on a pool floatie. Adding pics of the most intense 'rapids' on this trip compared to a mid-August trip on the Deschutes last year. read more

Had a great trip on the Wenatchee this weekend with Brode!! Water was calm and the rapids were perfect as a first timer.

To be honest, we didn't love our white water rafting trip with Wildwater and, unfortunately, I think we all left a little disappointed with the overall experience. Our guide, John, was just OK. He explained what to expect and about all of the upcoming rapids as we traveled down the river. But other than that, didn't do much guiding. We got stuck on big rocks multiple times, which was frustrating. Plus, at one point, his sunglasses fell in the water and he promptly jumped out and threw his paddle which hit one of our friends on the side of her face. When he climbed back in he apologized for jumping out so abruptly but didn't event realize that he had hit our friends face. Also, the Wentachee River is advertised as a Class III+ whitewater river, but it seemed as if most of the rapids were Class II-III. The river was definitely not intense enough for our group, which we will take into consideration for next time! We had fun but not what we were expecting. read more

Let me start off by saying from someone who cannot swim and is deadly paranoid of drowning I never thought that I was not safe at all. This was my first time doing this and at first I was scared. But I was assured after seeing how the team of guides ( Gabi, Hunter, and I believe Darren, I am have bad memory ) professionalism made me more relaxed. Everything overall was great and it really fun and exhilarating at times. Especially when your sitting all the way in the front. You going to get drenched and at times it is like in your in a movie when the raft is like taking a noise dive right into the water. I wish I had a GoPro then you would know what i am talking about it. All the guides were great and very informative and we had like a 3hr ride and the time went just blindingly fast because of the fun your having. I recommend doing this at least once and you will not be disappointed. read more

Amazing trip, amazing guide - highly recommend for a great time! Lance was our guide and he was very professional while super friendly. Everything went completely smoothly. They started right on time with a quick overview of the gear they provided (wetsuit, jacket, booties) and we were given time to change. I appreciated that their gear seemed relatively new. It was a quick ride from Cashmere to our launch site and there they gave a quick explanation of what we might expect on the trip, things to do if the unexpected happens, etc - all the safety stuff we needed. Our trip was mid June (yesterday) and the water level was a bit higher than normal and the weather a bit colder. Lance did a great job introducing the rapids and told us which way to swim if we happened to fall out. But at no point during the trip did we ever feel unsafe. It was exciting enough to have a great time, but we were never fearful for our lives and Lance was super experienced and we felt very safe with him as our guide. My son asked if he could jump in the water and Lance let him jump in during a calm spot. I jumped in too just for the fun of it. The water was cold, but not unbearable. The rapids on the Wenatchee were just right. We really liked the last 2 rapids which seemed the most exciting (and we got the most wet). It was a little like a fireworks display - bursts of excitement with some mild pauses ending with a big finale. I've been rafting a couple of times while it was my son's first time (he's 15). I just wanted to take the time to tell everyone about how great our beginner crash course white water kayaking trip was with Scott and Megan! My group of friends signed up for a 2 day course. Some of my group had experience, but my husband and I had no prior experience. Scott and Megan took their time teaching us the basics, emergency/safety maneuvers, how to read the river, and the type of rapids and dangers that can occur on the river. They were both extremely supportive and encouraged us when we succeeded in performing the techniques and very instructional when telling us how to improve and that the things were experiencing on the water (like spinning in circles) were normal and that it takes sometimes even years to be a experienced enough paddler to keep straight through white water. I also really appreciated that even when I was struggling, both Megan and Scott were encouraging and made sure i didnt get left behind. I will definitely be back on the river soon to practice the skills we learned and to get comfortable in my paddling! Thank you both for a great weekend on the Wenatchee! Note: I would definitely recommend a trip with wild water if you actually want to learn skills to kayak yourself. They provide all the gear so you can see if it's something you want to continue to do :) read more

I gave them 5 starts for their awesomeness from both their river guides as well as their office managers for all the help along the way. I have organized 2 rafting trips with Wildwater River Guides over the last couple of years and am more than happy with their service. Organizing a trip for 36 people is not easy and they made it a much less daunting task than I initially anticipated. My most recent trip with them was down the Skykomish river, which is considered the most difficult rafting route in WA state. I especially enjoyed it very much because it was more exciting than White Salmon that I went last year. My boat was side surfed for about 5 minutes at the Boulder Drop with Jamie as our guide. The Rapid Progression class was great. If you want to jump in there, focus and have some basics down and comfort in the kayak in 2 days, this is it. Hunter, Sem,and Guy were awesome.
