This place is our favorite. I haven't had a dish I didn't like. My husband and I go and we love their fajitas. They have a spicy sauce you can get that is really great and extra hot. So sad that there is nowhere decent to eat on the lake in Conroe. Flies are everywhere in the restaurant. Salsa & chips are ok but nothing to rave about. Food is so salty. We will inevitably give this place another try when the weather is beautiful & we want to sit outside but the food & service are always just mediocre. First time here. Had ask for our server several times. Fried shrimp was tasty but served over cold French fries! The best part of the combo fajitas was the grilled onions. Chicken was good... beef was missing that grilled sear and were a little blah. Condiments were sparse and we had to request more cheese. Flour tortillas were fresh & delicious but only three served. Except for their prime location on Lake Conroe and good atmosphere, this is one of the worst Mexican restaurants I have EVER experienced. Everything, including the chips is bland and lifeless. House margaritas taste like a bitter, powdered lemonade mix. Fish tacos tasted like metal. Salsa is a mixture of tomato sauce and Green chilies. And to top it all off, the menu is really hard to read. I am a graphic designer and specialize in menu design, so this really stands out to me as some of the worst design ever. Nearly impossible to read even with magnifying glasses. Whoever put this together has never taken a course in graphic design and has no sense of special layout or the rules of quality graphics. Holy hell! This place was the best. The drinks were perfectly mixed (not watered down and not over the top with alcohol). We enjoyed our 30 minute wait with our drinks and overlooking Lake Conroe. Trust me, the wait was worth it. Our waiter was as nice as can be and very attentive. The food...the food was uh-mazing! Our table of 3 shared the El Ganadero platter and it was cooked to perfection. The corn tortillas tasted great and if you're into EXTRA spicy hot sauce then order the house made habanero salsa. You will not be disappointed. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Wonderful view, awful service. Isabella, our waitress, brought a regular margarita instead of strawberry. Fine, but when I mentioned it to her she got upset and told me she correctly put in the order. Then tried to convince me that there was strawberry in it. I let her walk off, because you do not argue with or lie to customers. She came back and I can't told her the drink is incorrect. "What do you want me to do?! Take it back to the bar and have them put strawberry in it?". She snatched the drink up, marched it to the bar and brought the same drink back with strawberry plopped it it. I think this violated some codes and was petty, bit I thanked her for the strawberry. Everything was answered her questions with about orders and food was met with disgust and disdain. I've never been treated that way, I'm always patient with servers as customer service can really be awful and extremely challenging. We tipped her ten dollars and left. Went here with family from out of town. This is not about the mediocre food or the under quoted long wait in a very tight/ not handicap friendly wait area. This is about the staff and manager. I fell walking to our table. I was holding my 2 year old son. When it happened, I literally tried to catch myself by reaching for the back of the hostess that was seating us. Not to pull her down but bc the back of her legs were there. She didn't offer to help us up. She didn't ask if we were ok literally just worried about how many menus we needed and walked away while all the people around looked on. Our server was literally the only one to show compassion and offered a bag of ice to my son who ended up with a bump on his head. The manger came over only at the request of our server. All he could say was he'd talk to the hostess and again didn't seem the least bit concerned and struggled to give us more than a few seconds of empathy or come back by to check on us. I get it's a busy restaurant but it could have been a lot worse situation - thankfully it wasn't. Additionally, I asked a different worker for plasticware and he had no idea what that was. I explained it was a plastic spoon or fork. He told me I could go get it at the ice cream station and carried on with wiping the menus down. They seriously need some training when accidents happen and how to treat a human being/ customer service. Again, our server was very sweet and she was tipped generously. So I consider myself very objective when it comes to food and my dining experience. I can be understanding of mishaps, etc, but this place is just garbage. They are getting two stars only because of the politeness of staff and ambiance. The food would get no stars. Let's start with apps. Queso, gross! Are you kidding? It was like off brand Velveeta without seasoning, already had a film on it before it made it to the table because it wasn't hot enough and it's $6 for a small. Ceviche was awful. Absolutely flavorless. All you taste is mango. Girlfriend ordered tortilla soup and it came out luke warm and was also flavorless. Basically chicken broth with non seasoned shredded chicken. So bad we sent it back. This place is called Fajita Jacks so I ordered fajitas. HUGE mistake. They were dry, no flavor, not hot, chewy and very underwhelming. Flank or skirt steak is not hard to cook but easily done wrong, and they definitely did it wrong. The tortillas are dreadful! They are too thick and doughy. I would never recommend eating here to anyone. This has to be the worst Mexican food in Conroe. The only way I imagine they stay open is the location, alcohol sales and the green sauce. It's surely not the food. This place needs serious help. read more

What a place!! Really cool!!. Found it just driving around looking for a place to eat, when we found this place last Saturday for lunch with family while in town. It was a bit of a wait to get a table but hey we had a large party and they did accommodate us very well. The wait staff was cool and fun, they were light hearted when they saw us, unlike most places due to the size you can see the grumble in their eyes. They really had some great recommendations on meals and drinks. Food was awesome had some bacon wrapped shrimp. I can say when we go back we will stop in here for some more drinks. read more

To reply to the manager you were not busy at this time. There were a total of 2 other families outside when I was seated the rest of the tables had no one. As for the inside it wasnt even 50 perfect full. There is no excuse. For future outside customers make sure you dedicate a server for the outside balcony. The server I approached stated well that's not my section. He should have alerted the other server when we were seated or the hostess should have. There seems to me several missed opportunities of communication on your part. As the manager maybe you should brush up on these with your staff. Also if you would have reached out and maybe asked what happened before posting a lame excuse that is totally false I may have been more likely to give you another chance. Not the greatest. Wait staff always seems bothered by having to wait on another table. The food is terrible. We have given this place several chances and ordered new things every time. I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner on my search for a rehearsal dinner location. I think we've found a winner! Things I like: 1. The fajita meat is awesome 2. The salsas they bring with the chips are really good. 3. There is a vanilla soft serve machine for a free dessert after (or before? Ha ha!) your meal! 4. Nice view of the marina. 5. KENNETH was AWESOME! He recommended the Shrimp & Spinach Enchiladas with Poblano Cream Sauce. They were GREAT...except that some of the shell was left on my shrimp tails. Kids split the Ultimate Fajitas and the hubby got the Mariachi Tacos. All were very happy. Great view of Lake Conroe. Easily accessible. We were staying at an air bnb close by and the owners recommended this place. OMG - has to be some of the best Tex-Mex I've ever eaten. Fajitas were tender, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The bacon wrapped jalapenos were outstanding - wish I could have eaten more, but got too warm for me. Margaritas were wonderful. I had the Boss - it was great and not made with the usual premade mix. This was a three generation group of ladies from 14-62 and every one of us loved the meal. Highly Highly recommend it! read more

So Fajita Jacks is the very epitome of what is wrong with Conroe restaurants and the restaurants on the lake in general. Is this the best restaurant on the lake . . .come on, is that saying that much? There is truly nothing redeeming about this restaurant, except for the view, and they are just lucky the water level is back to normal. If you want sound advice, grab take out from some other restaurant and go sit on the peer and then you get good food and a great view. I must admit, I am absolutely stunned at the reviews in the positive for this place, but I guess to each his own. No doubt it helps to have a few drinks in you to make something taste better, but the margaritas are definitely not good or high quality, and they claim "famous fajitas" which I thought was a joke, but apparently they are serious. Their fajitas taste like nothing but pure black pepper, which to me, is scary . . . I mean, what are they hiding? So, I've eaten at the old location 3 times and the new 3 times, always thinking, surely I must be wrong, but no, I still can't find anything that would make me come back. Absolutely everything that has "fajita beef" tastes the same, like black pepper. I've tried the ground beef items, and while better than the fajita meat, is nothing special and nothing I wouldn't expect from Los Cucos. Sure, you must be thinking I'm just a negative naysayer, but that is only because so many times I really wanted this place to "be the one." When they moved onto the lake, it seemed like the perfect marriage. Well, the honeymoon quickly ended . . . The lake has sooo much potential, but as long as "this" is what constitutes good, we are in trouble . . .There are too many "tex-mex" places to rely on this one. If you really want the lake atmosphere, do Taco Bell across the street and then come over to look at the lake. read more
