This was the worst breakfast ever. Every thing was full of grease. The coffee was terrible. The service wasn't all that great either.

Excellent food - chicken wrap, clam chowder, chili. Friendly service, large portions, fries to cheer for. A MUST EAT!

As good or really better than it gets around here. Service was spot on - such nice people really. Fast, courteous, anticipated what the kids needed, recommended things that were delicious. Lots of kids options, great appetizers - jalapeno poppers with raspberry jam was amaze. Fries are better than fries should be. Pretty good gravy and truly amazing ranch. We eat here almost every weekend. It's the best place for breakfast in Linden. I always get the mini breakfast which is a pancake eggs and bacon and I'm full until after lunch. Family friendly. read more

Has a nice breakfast here this past weekend. Had the Country Breakfast I believe it was called. Chicken Fried Steak, Eggs, Hasbrowns and Toast. Very good. I ordered a side of French Toast just to try since I haven't had it before. That I'm not a fan of, I expected it to be slightly crisper but my was very soft. Overall a good experience, however our middle aged waitress was quite grumpy and not helpful. We felt that asking for more coffee and creamer was putting her out. Reflected in our tips to her. However try this restaurant for breakfast, food was good. read more

Fairway Cafe did the catering for my son's wedding. The power went out several hours before. Instead of canceling, they improvised and creatively went above and beyond, were solution oriented, and made it happen anyway. Rose and her team were positive in spite of the circumstances. I come here often for lunch. No matter when I go there, the food is always the same. They are very consistent. I really like the food. My favorite is the chicken fried steak. It comes with soup or salad & then the main is a large piece of steak, lots of mashed potatoes, & vegetables...& don't forget the yummy gravy. The staff there has been there for years & doesn't put up with any BS, which is great. Helps that I have come here enough to know most of them. I will always continue to go here. I came here with my daughter. It was a cute place and everyone was super friendly. We got our menus, drinks and orders in quickly. We were visited by our waitress several times and the cook even offered a suggestion since I had omitted some ingredients from my omelette. I was charmed. Everything was great except for my entrée. My omelette was so greasy it was inedible. There were pools of oil inside and under it, and this was a vegetarian dish so most of this was likely added. I would have said something but there was a huge rush of people and there seemed to only be one server. It was almost impossible to get her attention to let her know we needed our bill. My daughter was restless and at the end if her attention span. We got the bill, paid and left. It may not always be that way but that was my experience. read more

I have been eating here for 15 years, but my last two meals have not been good, and the kitchen is very slow. The poor server felt awful about it. Nov.3,2018 it took forever to get a hot turkey sandwich with runny mash potatoes, very little turkey and almost no gravy. A few weeks ago had a egg salad sandwich on whole wheat, and the bread was old and dry. Not what it used to be. read more

Fairway Cafe is a good place to find local color while having a meal. Typical farming community crowd and menu. We had the veggie omelette this morning and it was quite good, albeit smothered with melted cheese. The vegetables were crisp and fresh and the egg foldover was tasty. Anytime my wife and I cross the border we head for the Fairway. We often split a regular meal simply because it's more than one person can eat. Yes there is an extra $1 charge, but we get our servings on separate plates so I don't have a problem with that. The wait staff are friendly and efficient and the owner, Rose DeGroot, is a pleasure to meet. The food is always delicious, the setting clean, and we always leave feeling well fed and somewhat spoiled. The clam chowder is fabulous and the daily specials a treat. I can't speak to the desserts, although they look delicious, as I'm always to stuffed to eat any more. If you are having a salad alone order the small, the large is enough for two! Prices are average (around $10 per meal) but the quantity and quality are worth much more. read more

The best thing here was the $3.95 6oz pop. The place smelled like someone carped there depends. They say you eat a bushel of dirt a year but thanks to there unwashed salad I am half way there. The food look and tasted like it sat out for a week or two.The service was crappy. Save yourself the trouble and go to McDonald's to get a heart attack. read more

This place is hot and cold. It is the go to spot for me and my friends, we always go here when we're down, or tired, or just need to chat. The food is here always amazing. Perfection! Best fries I have ever had! Their chicken strips are good as well. If you bring your kids, order a dirt bucket, they'll love it. Their food is perfect. While I do think they are the best in town, I must inform you of the flaws of this establishment. Two times I have had an issue with this place! (must note I am there at least three times a month) The first incident was on a day when there was little people, a quiet day. Naturally, I thought that our food would be served fairly quickly, especially considering that there was only one thing we ordered to share. You'd think I would get it quickly, but it took them an entire 35 minutes. I was not impressed. The second incident was not as huge, but still. My group of eight had ordered a large fry to share. (noted there was several other things we ordered). There was no ketchup at our table, so we thought we would just wait until a waitress came to ask how things were. Typically, they come at least once to see how the food is, and considering that we had such a large order, and we'd paying a good penny, they'd want to make sure we enjoyed the food. However, they did not come even once. We watched them fill ketchup bottles, but never bring one to our table. We tried to get there attention, but they never got it to us. That being said, if you are in town, go there. They have amazing food, and decent service. read more

Ate breakfast at Fairway cafe this morning. My wife had the ham and cheese omelet. She stated it was very good. Eggs were fluffy and good amount of cheese and ham. She shared her omelet with our 3yo granddaughters. Although they liked the omelet they did not eat as well as usual. The bacon we got them was hard and crunchy, a little overdone. My biscuits and gravy was tasty. The overeasy eggs were overeasy. read more

We love the Fairway Cafe. They have delicious burgers that don't have grease running out of them and their French fries are so crispy and delicious. We love their fresh salads, and they have the best ranch dressing!!! They have a great meatloaf, and a great turkey dinner, and their mashed potatoes are creamy and delicious. They also have a fantastic breakfast menu. I love getting my eggs poached or over easy, and my husband loves their omelets. We love their hash brown potatoes, and sometimes my husband orders them extra crispy. I like mine the regular way they serve them. They have delicious homemade biscuits, and their strawberry jam is absolutely, hands down, the best I've ever had. I haven't had a bad meal there yet. The portions are very large, so sometimes I get to take some extra home in a doggie bag and savor it the next day. I give them 5 stars, easily!!! read more

I am torn about what to write for this review, debated giving it a 3 but the food and MOST of the waitstaff was so good that I went with a 4. I came here on 7/25/2012 for lunch. You can tell this is the sort of place people keep bringing their families to as they grow older - lots of old folks, but lots of satisfied teenagers, couples, families, etc. I had a very cute little hostess- very polite, got my drink to me right away despite a slight rush of customers. I love that they make sure you know about the specials and soups - I'm always afraid to ask. Unfortunately, my experience turned a bit sour here. I was told by my friend who lives in Lynden (I'm from Southern Bellingham area) not to be turned off by this because it is usually the same waitresses as usual and she had never seen the man. My waiter started out alright, if not slightly over-the-top. I'm a single mom and I felt throughout the meal that he was being overly-friendly, to the point where my friend commented on it to me... When I became more forceful with my ignoring his "advances" he seemed to become very unpleasant. He argued with me about taking tomatoes off my salad! I asked the little hostess about it when she came over to refill my drink (to see if it was maybe restaurant policy) and she said it should've been fine as long as it wasn't the special, which the cooks don't allow changes to (understandable as I heard about 3 other tables order it!!) Very much a lack of customer service here from my waiter... I'm not a "customer is always right "kind of person, but I do prefer polite maturity over rudeness. My hostess and the other waitress seemed nice enough, but unfortunately it always is the bad service that sticks with you. My meal however was outstanding!! One of the best wraps I had ever eaten, I got the Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap which I was told by my hostess is very popular, as were all their summer specials. I had constant refills on my lemonade, and my friend had the same for her coffee and she also loved her Philly Dip. Their french fries might be the best I have ever tasted. Overall, my experience remained positive once I escaped from the waiter. I'm told the owner is very much a business woman in a small town, and I hope she can see this man might be hurting her business. I still reccomend it though... just maybe not on Wednesdays. read more

I love this place! The funky waitresses with their '50's-style Big Hair and Dangly Earrings and gum chompin' "hons" give this diner its authentic local feel. The portions are ENORMOUS, every dinner is big enough for two or three meals. Prices are good. The town, if you don't know, is artificial Dutch - very fake and Disneylandish - with tacky windmills everywhere. But this place is real Americana, anthropologically perfect. I recommend the Pork Schnitzel country dinner - their "red cabbage" is to die for - sweet, tangy, spicy, and real bacon - I could eat it all day. read more

I finally caved and came here for lunch after a British woman sitting next to me at a nail salon told me that they served the best Fish and Chips she had ever eaten outside of England! She swore that when her friends and family came to visit she would bring them here and they would go nuts. I've eaten here probably 10+ times since then, and while I absolutely love the food, the service has been consistently awful and I have had multiple servers who were just downright rude to my entire table for no apparent reason. I work in the industry and completely understand having a bad day, being understaffed and having to pick up slack, or getting a table of customers who are extremely obnoxious or snobby, but we are nothing of the sort and the "kill em' with kindness" approach that we take with the servers does nothing to curb their edge. After reading through other reviews, I see that I am definitely not the only one who has felt this way. Love the food and will definitely continue to eat here, but they should think about really pressing their server's to be nicer to customers because the majority of their business is the elderly of Lynden who grew up with the owners and knew their family, but once they are no longer coming in they could really find themselves having difficulty building up a base of regulars again. I like this place - it's what I would call "anthropologically authentic" - it is what it is, and it's not trying to be something trendy, fashionable, or faddish. What it is, is: a diner. The sort of diner with beehive-wearing, gum-crackin' waitresses who remember your previous orders and are a bit slap-dash and lippy. (I like lippy.) One's fellow diners tend to the farmer and fundamentalist - it can be tedious over-hearing their conversations, but also - anthropologically authentic. I always order the same thing - a giant enormous pork dinner with the world's best red-cabbage sauerkrauty thing on the side.... sometimes I order TWO of the red cabbage sauerkrauty things, in lieu of of the other veg. The potatoes, by-the-by, are actually potatoes, not from a box - whether you get them mashed, baked or fried. (Another reviewer said they served powdered mashed - that's not true.) The secret to enjoying your dining experience here is to "order what the locals eat" - and the locals eat Dutch-derived Americanized food. Not health food, not nouveau cuisine - just a diner, catering to old guys, fundies, and farmers. Enter their world, and observe. It's fascinating. Try the red cabbage thing - definitely homemade. read more
